The M-Audio Axiom Pro 49 keyboard controller builds on the acclaimed Axiom 49 with premium TruTouch action, proprietary HyperControl MIDI mapping technology, and other cutting-edge enhancements. HyperControl automatically maps the keyboard's 65 controls to commonly accessed parameters in DAWs such as Pro Tools, Cubase, Logic, and Reason, as well as software instruments. The constant 2-way link with your host DAW means the USB keyboard's controls are always in sync with your software's active parameters. The M-Audio Axiom's intuitive graphic LCD constantly updates the current values, which ensures seamless editing and prevents parameter jumps—even when plug-ins are closed. Toggle instantly between Mixer and Instrument control modes. Map buttons to send QWERTY key commands right from the Axiom Pro 49 keyboard controller. Save settings to 50 memory locations—each with 4 profiles of quick recall via the intuitive graphic LCD.

Chintzy build. great sound. Awesome editor. just wasn't for me. Good place to start for a beginner.
I really wanted to like this midi board. It looks like it would be great. It's not. All of the sliders, and knobs, each have a different sensitivity to them. 1 knob will be very loose feeling..while the other will be too hard to turn. The sliders are the same way, some of them feel like they have gum stuck underneath them. If you don't play the key-bed for about 4 hours or so..and then come back to play it..you will notice a slight irritating "crunchy, sticky" feeling. You'll have to press them down to "un stick" them, and then the keys are fine until the next time you stop playing again. I didn't get a bad unit. I actually exchanged it for a 2nd and the replacement behaved the same way. For the price this thing costs..you would expect some better quality. I would suggest considering the Axiom 2nd generation controllers instead of this one. Avid re-did them and they are pretty decent now.
I've had problems with M-Audio in the past so I was hesitant to buy this keyboard when someone suggested it to me. First I bought the Axiom 49 and it was super easy to use but the responsivness especially on the pads was lacking. I returned it for the Axiom 49 pro and was wowed by the additional features and the feel of the keys and pads was much much better. The appearance of the keyboard is nice too. The pro is definately worth the extra money. It hooked right up to my Macbook pro and pro tools and went to work right away. I am still playing with it to figure out all of it's features but so far I am hooked and cannot stop playing it. I am new to midi and recording so ease is especially appreciated!
This is probably the cooles midi controller out there. I hooked it up and it immediately saw all my software and plug-ins. Better yet it displays everything on the built in LCD display. This is the controller you want if you don't like programming, IT DOES EVERYTHING FOR YOU!!!
I have had this for about a day now and i cant stop playin with it. it makes everything in logic pro 9 that much easier to use. the keys feel a little fragile but they play nice.
