Very Disappointed

Comments about M-Audio Axiom AIR 61 MIDI Controller:

I got this keyboard to use Hyper Control with Pro Tools 11 which I purchased also. Needless to say, it doesn't work. Even after seeing the post from M-Audio's site stating new drivers were finally available and works with Pro Tools. And yes, I updated the firmware too (v1.2). Works fine with Ableton though. I was intending on trying out the Air Instrument pack to start with a new approach but that's out of the question.I guess I'll go back to using Propellerheads' Reason to compose my music. I thought the days of waiting a couple of years to get the bugs out was over.

Comments about M-Audio Axiom AIR 61 MIDI Controller:

No matter how many knobs, encoders, and sliders you pack into this beautifully styled keyboard, it is all rendered pretty much useless by the buggy firmware. My unit came with version 1.01 of the Air firmware and pretty quickly it became evident that something was wrong. The keyboard would freeze randomly while using Mainstage, Ableton, Logic Pro, and even Native Instruments Kore. I did notice that the keyboard would freeze the most while playing the B3 simulations and I would start to grind. Hypercontrol is the main selling point of this keyboard at this price point. However, that part of the package falls short of the marketing hype. Hypercontrol works OK with Ableton Live but it does not work with Logic Pro X, nor does it work with ProTools 11. I found a way to get Logic Pro X to recognize the keyboard but even when it did, Hypercontrol simply did not work. This may have been a workable problem if the controls would be accessible in normal MIDI mode but the keyboard simply refuses to leave Hypercontrol mode when Logic Pro X or ProTools 11 are loaded and therefore, you lose all of the functionality of the sliders, rotary encoders, and the pads. Essentially, you are left with a very expensive keybed. Additionally, the freezes in Hypercontrol mode happen quite frequently as well, sometimes pressing a single key will cause the keyboard to freeze. A quick search on Google revealed that these problems are not unique to my specific unit but rather a greater problem affecting the entire Oxygen and Axiom line of controllers. And if you read all of the comments posted online by other owners of these boards, you will see that M-Audio has not stood behind their products at all. The company has failed to address the problems mentioned above and it has had more than two years to do so. This leads me to believe that either a) the problems described above are impossible to fix with a firmware update or b) M-Audio is planning on shutting down operations soon and that is the reason they don't seem to care. I have decided to return the unit to Guitar Center and will never again buy an M-Audio product. It is very unfortunate because the Air 61 is a beautiful keyboard with a fantastic action and a very complete set of controls. If only it worked as advertised, this would have been a home run for M-Audio. Their continued refusal to stand behind their products make this a losing proposition at any price point.

Does not work at all. Upgraded the firmware and it still freezes. Its a shame the keybed is really nice but its simply a paper weight if it does not work. And I bought it on clearance. As is and it cant be returned. M audio wont replace or offer me a refund.. Terrible move along
