M-Audio Kills The Competion On MIDI

By Dj Maximum

from Dayton,OH

Comments about M-Audio Axiom 61 61-Key USB MIDI Keyboard Controller:

The Axiom 61 Key MIDI Controller Is By Far The Best Midi Controller Available On The Market. With The Semi Weighted Keys And The 8 Trigger Finger Pads On The Board It Is The Best MIDI Keyboard Ive Ever Came Into Contact With. I Was Skeptical At 1st About The Semi Weighted Keys But This The Real Deal. The 8 Pads Similar To The "M-Audio Trigger Finger Controller" Offers As Good Of Sensitivity With This Board. Working With Reason & Pro Tools Is The Easiest Piece Of Equipment Money Can Buy. I Prefer This MIDI Over Aby The 61 Key MIDI Controllers... M-Audio>>>>_________

Buyers be aware

Comments about M-Audio Axiom 61 61-Key USB MIDI Keyboard Controller:

This is a great product when it is new and working but make sure you get an extended warranty on it. There are several people out there that have experienced the same problem being that the keys stop working even after a reboot to factory default settings. Google it!!! Axiom 61 keys not working.... Need I say more?

Almost perfect

By Striz

from Philadelphia, PA

Comments about M-Audio Axiom 61 61-Key USB MIDI Keyboard Controller:

After purchasing the M-Audio Oxygen 49 about a year ago (Not a bad controller for the money) I decided to move up to the Axiom 61 because I needed at least one more octave than the Oxygen 49 and I also was attracted to the semi weighted keys. As an keyboard controller the Axiom is great. Much more expression now, especially with piano's. As a midi controller for DAW's it works great right out of the box with some apps, such as pro tools and Reason (as well as a few others) The only con I have with this controller is the lack of a logic pro or digital performer preset. I could actually do without the Digital Performer preset but the lack of a logic preset is REALLY lame. It does come with a Liberian editor but at the moment I kinda of want to focus on music and not trying to figure out all the programing stuff. Ill probably end up buying a Mackie controller for my logic DAW and still use the Axiom to play my synths and other devices. Anyway I'd have to say that I do really like the Axiom, but if it had a logic preset as it does pro tools and Reason I'd love it, but do to the lack of Logic support it gets 4 stars instead of 5

Nice Keyboard Action

By Dave S.

from Austin, TX

Comments about M-Audio Axiom 61 61-Key USB MIDI Keyboard Controller:

I have had this for 3 weeks and used it live 3 times so far. Wow, I really like this keyboard. Specifically, the action is perfect. I normally use an M-Audio 88 Key weighted keyboard for my main work, but I wanted a 2nd keyboard specifically for lead work. Sorry, but a weighted keyboard for lead work is a bit too hard for me. And the typical non-weighted synth-like keyboards feel like a TOY, which makes me feel sick. Fortunately, I think M-Audio designed this keyboard JUST FOR ME! Yay! The snappy kickback-action is wonderful, no kidding. Also, the keyboard is so light, and because of that, I can get by with a lightweight bag for toting it (something I wouldn't try with my 88 key keyboard). The things I would like, however are: 1.) More buttons which I can use for patch-changes. Like maybe 50 buttons just for that! 2.) I'd like to be able to transmit on more than 4 channels simultaneously. Why not all 16? What are we trying to do: save some trees or something? 3.) I'd also like to have a THRU connection. The fact that M-Audio has nixxed these is a mystery to me. I guess they don't think anyone plays live anymore ... only in their home studios? 4.) Along with the 16 channels output of MIDI, I'd like to have multiple midi-outs, and the ability to program which channels go to which MIDI out. 5.) Hey, while we're fooling with MIDI connectors, how about giving us 2 or more MIDI in's which do a MERGE, so we don't need to have a merge box when using another keyboard with this one? Overall, I like this keyboard!

Cheap

By Brock

from Florida

Comments about M-Audio Axiom 61 61-Key USB MIDI Keyboard Controller:

This is definitely a decent midi controller. I've had mine for a year now, and it's super easy to use and to sync up with Ableton Live. However, the faders have a really cheap, flimsy feel and so do the keys. Whenever I'm trying to aftertouch a key (especially the black ones), I feel like I'm going to break the keyboard in half or jam a key. Also, the lowest and highest C keys actually RUB against the black casing around them. On the positive side, the pads are really nice and durable and so are the knobs. Overall, you shouldn't be too disappointed.

The Ax to Axiom 61

By Mike

from Scottsdale, AZ

Comments about M-Audio Axiom 61 61-Key USB MIDI Keyboard Controller:

Sorry guys, but as a musician I have to say this keyboard is not all that. If in your life you've played a nice piano or a nice workstation, you won't be able to play this keyboard without going bonkers. The keys are not semi weighted, contrary to what was stated online when I bought it. The sound, regardless of your recording gear (Pro Tools HD here) is latent, the notes you hit will never be exactly where your artistry originally placed them no matter how much adjusting you do. If you're happy with semi professional sound and aren't bothered by something as important as latency, then by all means this keyboard is for you. The keys are cheap, feel like they are going to break every time I get inspired, the pads are junk, the faders are junk and the menu's are layered and layered, junk. For a few hundred dollars, what can you expect.

Great Controller BUT...

By ChuckEy

from Vernon CT

Comments about M-Audio Axiom 61 61-Key USB MIDI Keyboard Controller:

I've had this controller for about 1 year and 8 months now. It did what it was supposed to, never really put it through much rigors however within exactly 4 months purchase my G# nad D keys stopped playing. Now they play whenever they feel like... I enjoyed this controller and it's easy plug and play and user friendly interface. The keys felt great and the look of it blended well. The pads come in quite handy when sequencing or layering drum patterns. The knobs, pitch bend and modulation controllers feel smooth. Never really got a chance to explore its many capabilites so I'm quite interested in purchasing another like it, BUT with all the complaints of the same problem I've faced i'm a little skeptical. There is no way to really know if it is going to happen, but OVERALL it is a controller I enjoyed and would recommend other than that major problem. Don't expect to get reliable customer support either in regards to said issue.
