Good product..not Mac Pro Dual-Core compatible

By Fabian

from Miami, FL

Comments about M-Audio Audiophile 2496 PCI Digital Audio Card:

I based my purchase on the great reviews I read about the Audiophile 2496 audio card. Unfortunately, the card wasn't compatible with my Mac Pro Dual Core (PCI Xpress slots). Other than that, the card seems to work perfectly on PCI based computer and at a very low price.

Crisp sound/good for gaming too

By Chris B

from san francisco, ca

Comments about M-Audio Audiophile 2496 PCI Digital Audio Card:

This sound card is very good. the sound quality is so clear i actually could hear the sound "defects" of my previous recordings that i made with my old creative SB xfi. i even thought the card had a problem at first but realized i would need to redo my recordings with this new sound card. right now i hooked my MC909 to the coax digital. set up was easy...sort of. you may have to visit some forums to figure out this card. it ll even play the latest video games. buy it.

Pretty Sweet

By Quang Phan

from Fort Worth, Texas

Comments about M-Audio Audiophile 2496 PCI Digital Audio Card:

It's a pretty awesome product because you can choose how you want your audio to come out(sampling rate, latency, etc). Since it comes with a breakout cable that has spdif io and midi io, it's a great soundcard for a producer and its compatible with Asio and other programs like that. It's the perfect sound card for recording. If you need better quality then you could go for the more expensive Audiophile soundcards. Some things I don't like about it is that for some reason 2 or more programs can't use the soundcard at the same time(the program that used it first gets its sound sent to the soundcard and the others don't). Another thing is that sometimes when i need to use headphones then i can't because there's no slot for it(if you have money then you can easily get around this). It's a really good sound card for producers and people who need to record stuff. If you are a producer then you should get a good processor with this card too. It's all good.

Just What I Needed...

By Tom In Boston

from Boston, MA

Comments about M-Audio Audiophile 2496 PCI Digital Audio Card:

After suffering for a year, using a Midi to USB connection, the M-Audio Audiophile 2496 PCI Digital Audio Card, solved all my problems. I use an old Roland MC-50 Sequencer and an M-Audio Keystation ES 88, which I step record DnB and play keys live. I had a severe latency problem with some of the software I used, but the M-Audio Audiophile 2496 PCI Digital Audio Card solved all that. Plus, the sound is much cleaner than the sound on board sound, on my computer. The M-Audio Delta ASIO Drivers I download after install cured a few problems I had with VSTI Compatability. All in all, the best purchase I have ever made.

Clean / Low Latency Card

By Smitty265

from North Yarmouth, ME

Comments about M-Audio Audiophile 2496 PCI Digital Audio Card:

I bought an MAudio 2496 card about four or five years ago and the audible difference between tracking with this card and anything that comes installed in a consumer PC is incredible. The sound is quite clean and the latency can be adjusted very low assuming you have decent system resources in terms of cpu and ram. I have upgraded computers and thought about upgrading to a Delta 1010 or something but, honestly, I always record one track at a time and this card delivers semi-pro results in that realm. I have kept using the 2496, even as I've upgraded the rest of my studio around it. It's been very stable and trouble-free and the control panel software is quite flexible. This is a great buy for a home or project studio where laying down a track at a time is the norm.

Good Starter Card

By ApolloSC

from New York, NY

Comments about M-Audio Audiophile 2496 PCI Digital Audio Card:

This is a good way to begin playing around with pc recording. The 24bit input is of good enough quality for the price so just get a descent mic pre and you are set. This was my first pc interface until I upgraded to the Presonus Firepod which showed a major increase in quality, features, etc but is also reflective of the price. This is a good way to start your ventures into the recording world.
