NEW REVIEW - Excellent Product but it doesn't last

I purchased my first M-Audio sustain pedal 2 years ago, but the problem is this will be my third pedal within 2 years. This is an excellent product hands down. The pedal is not moved around or anything. I use the M-Audio every Sunday and sometimes during the week. Cosmetically its in superb condition, but for some reason it some how loses it sustain. This product according to durability is great but when it comes to longevity interior functionality its needs some improvement

Breaks after one year.

This pedal may have realistic action and a useful polarity switch but it's longevity is horrible. I am now on my second pedal and it is starting to malfunction. The first pedal lasted about one year before the sustain stopped responding. I bought a new one and a year later THE SAME THING HAPPENED, leading me to think it wasn't my doing. The M-Audio customer service also sucked, I requested a parts list from them in an attempt to fix it but they never responded. I gig about every 2 weeks with it and always treat it with respect but M-Audio has let me down on this one.

must have

This is a must-have for any keyboardist.. I think we all knows what it does, and especially this item, is a TANK. I don't know how many times I've dropped it but it's all scratched and still working marvelously!

Good for beginners... Serious keyboardists: look elsewhere!

When I purchased my MO8 keyboard about 11 months ago, I bought this pedal as a cheap starter sustain pedal. It worked until just recently. For for some reason, it suddenly required much more weight put on it to activate the sustain. The rubber pad in the actual pedal part was physically touching the plastic nub on the base, but it required my actual standing on top of the pedal to work. It's trigger range also diminished to about a millimeter when the weight problem started. A shame, because this pedal was brilliant until I really started putting it to work... something a good pedal should be able to handle. Regardless, this pedal is still great for beginners, hobbyists, or occasional performers. But if you're a serious gigging musician- or even if you practice a lot- I would go with a different pedal. I recommend the Roland DP-10 sustain pedal, even if you don't have a Roland keyboard. It's switchable between Continuous (for half-damper compatibility) and Switch settings, and it's less slippery on floors then the M-Audio - a problem I had many a time!
