  • I have to give it 5 stars, it rocks.

As reviewed by Joe Melton on 8/26/2011

In response to the only complaint on the first review, he compared it to a keyboard that cost twice as much. Not really fair, is it? It is what it is, a relatively inexpensive controller that doubles as a stage piano, not the other way around. Having said that, it's still a very nice stage piano for someone who doesn't have a thousand bucks to spend. In my studio, there was ZERO latency as far as I could feel. I was amazed. I just installed the drivers, plugged in the USB and started jamming thru Dimensions Pro x64. No lag at all. GTR center even matched a price for me. If I were to complain about anything, it would be the lack of a sustain pedal or an independant power supply. It's powered by the USB cable. I used one of my extra e-cig chargers, works like a charm. I wish also that you could reverse the polarity of the sustain so that it would work with any pedal, but that wasn't a deal breaker.

  • Some remarkable features but playability suffers

As reviewed by Preston Granbery on 6/27/2009

The instrument has a remarkable range of features and functions, although the interface takes some getting used to. And the grand piano sound is really excellent. However, for me playability is very important, and I certainly would not use the phrase "exceptional playability" to describe this instrument. The semi-weighted action feels stiff and non-responsive. Worse, the velocity sensitivity varies significantly from note to note. It was probably foolish of me to expect a "realistic piano experience" in a 24.5lbs. keyboard, but to those for whom that is important, fair warning. Try it before you buy it. The Yamaha YPG-635 is a much better choice even though it weighs much more (75lbs in a gig bag with folding stand).
