In commemoration of M-Audio's 20th anniversary, the MIDISPORT 4x4 Anniversary Edition gives the popular multi-port USB MIDI interface an updated look. The MIDISPORT addresses a total of 64 x 64 discrete channels of MIDI I/O via USB, allowing you to simultaneously connect a variety of MIDI devices. Bus-powered architecture provides the option of totally mobile operation.
Needed a midi hub to control a drum machine, electronic piano and keyboard on three separate channels via Ableton Live 8. Worked flawlessly and with very quick setup. Running Windows 7 64 bit - YES, the driver works with any DAW. You have to be sure to install the Anniversary Edition driver for 64 bit. There is a difference. Ableton instantly recognized it and displays four MIDI in and out with 16 midi channels each. Beautiful!
M-Audio offers drivers for Win7 64bit but they DO NOT work. Using their drivers, it works fine with Win7 32bit. I was able to install their drivers for Win7 64bit and device manager says they're working but no DAW recognizes the interface. Just tried it without using any M-Audio drivers and it works using whatever Win7 64bit has built-in. Oh I forgot, M-Audio is owned by Avid. No wonder it doesn't work right. They don't seem to know how to write to 64bit operating systems. I give the hardware 5 stars only because Win7 64bit can make it work but -100 stars for their drivers!
