  • Excellent but has its flaws...

As reviewed by Gabe on 1/4/2010

This card works great with my new i7 computer I built for my home studio but it didn't at first. I spent on the upwards of 6 hours calling M-Audio technical support and doing my own research just to find out that I had IRQ conflicts and needed to basically turn start disabling things until the sound card would function properly. Maybe it was just my computer but it seems as though there are some major driver issues and compatibility problems with Windows 7 or some of the new technology I put into my new PC. Other than that horrible experience I would have to say that this is by far one of the better pieces of equipment I've owned and I am very pleased. I can finally do software monitoring with less than 1 millisecond latency! I've been able to lower the buffer all the way to 64 and without any pops or crackles which is more than I could have hoped for. It also works extremely well with Cubase 5 and it even allows Cubase to control the card's built in mixer and faders which is a huge plus since it prevent me from having to switch back and forth just to adjust my levels while working. I'd recommend this card to any one considering it as an addition to their own setup. (it also is a much more affordable alternative to those pricey and often buggy firewire/usb interfaces!)

This card turned out to be a great addition to our on-air studio. We've thrown some challenges at both its hardware and software elements and are very pleased. Looks to be a winner!
