I got this to update my '65 chrome Supra. Original was swapped out long ago with a Remo from an old kit. It recently kept getting loose on me, so I went to this P-86 and matching Ludwig butt. Classic look and works great! Comes with short and long screws for metal/wood shells.
If you are a Ludwig snare fan you will want to replace the rubbish P-85 snare throw off with this P-86.The P-86 is as excellent as the P-85 is garbage. The P-86 is smooth and precise to throw on/off and adjust. You will be glad you bought and installed the Ludwig P-86 Snare Throw Off!
When the throw off on my stock Ludwig Custom Elite snare broke, I considered upgrading to a P-85 like my Acrolite snare. After looking at the P-86, I decided to give this one a try. The mechanism is simpler than the 85, with fewer moving parts. i doubt this throw off will ever break. This was a great upgrade to my snare.
I replaced the stock P-85 throw on my Black Beauty with this. I was frustrated with the P-85 because it was sticky and the lever rose above the rim, which got in the way. The P-86 was easy to install (same hole configuration as the P-85). It has a drop throw-off, which I prefer. It is smooth, engages positively, and looks like it belongs on that drum.
