  • I tried this out

As reviewed by Matt on 8/24/2009

This throw off is rather thin and flimsy, but if you don't disengage your snare often and just leave it on it should work fine. Have heard from others it doesn't support real high snare tension, but good for mid range. I was going to use this one myself, but the hole spacing was too short. For those who need to know, the spacing on this throw off is 2.5 inches. I needed 2 3/4, almost.....

  • Tried & true reliable throw off

As reviewed by Mike Gerbitz on 5/2/2011

I'm a pretty heavy hitter and I've never had any issues with these throws breaking, loosening up or disengaging while playing. It's a simple design that works very well. The price is right, too! I have three modern Ludwig snares (two Black Beauties & a 100th Anniversary Supraphonic 402) that came stock with P85's, and I've also updated an early 80's Supraphonic and a 60's Acrolite with these throw offs so that I can mount my snare wires with ribbon or straps instead of the old style snare cord.

  • It Gets Stuck. Do Not Buy!

As reviewed by Joseph Nocella on 10/3/2013

I had this same throw-off on my Ludwig bronze snare back in the 80's and it drove me crazy back then. Now I recently bought a Black Beauty and this same thing is on the snare and it gets stuck all of the time. Now matter how much you lubricate, adjust, fiddle with it, it always seems to get stuck during a live performance when you need to switch right away. Forget about authenticity, originality, all of that nonsense. The P86 is much better. There are other throw-offs made by other companies that are much better. Stay clear of this thing. It is a headache.
