as an active player with lower back strain..this partictular seat with the back support gives me the right amount of support needed. it allows me to utilize my legs without utilizing my lower back muscles when playing double bass. the swivel feature makes for a quick and easy height adjustment. constructed very well. i would and will recommend this product.
This throne is decent, but I wouldn't buy it again. The back support is better than no support, but if you lean on it, the metal holding it to the throne body starts to bend. I find that I need to bend it back to a supporting position about once every half hour of playing. No, I am not obese. Overall, I say that this is better than no backrest, but i would suggest springing for a nicer throne if you have the cash.
As many have noted on other sites, the backrest leans too far back. This is an easy adjustment if you have a little bit of patience and go slowly; a vice also helps. Otherwise, it's a great chair at a good price; the base is very sturdy and the seat is comfortable.
