The Epic "Brick" snare drum employs a 20-ply, 15mm thick, 14" x 7" all Birch shell for tight focus and articulate play at high-volumes.
2.5mm triple-flanged hoops and separate tension Keystone lugs are added to the equation for higher tuning capabilities.

just recently picked this drum up and it is a cannon! i tuned the top head loose with some muffling and it was instant don henley. medium tension gave it a great crack, but my favorite tuning is cranked fairly tight, very similar to vinnie paul's snare sound on "cowboys from hell". the drums is very well built, especially for the price. it is noticebly heavier than a mid 80's 14"x6.5" pearl steel snare i have, and it has an extended snare system. the only (small) complaint i have is that the strainer seems a bit cheap compared to the rest of the drums features. maybe i'm being picky, but it is the only reason i didn't give it five stars. highly recommended!
