While searching the internet for a relatively cheap and reliable strap lock, I've decided to pull the trigger on Loxx strap locks due to the sleek attractive design and functionality of this brand and model. At first i was very content with these strap locks because it complimented the looks of both my gigging guitars (I use a Fender strat and thinline reissue) and the fact they were of a functional locking design. However, appearances can be deceiving. After using this product for over a half a year, the nub on the horn of my strat began to show severe signs of deterioration, which led me to suggest a possible design flaw within this particular design. I speculate if there is enough unbalanced stress on the spherical nub, which note will occur from normal use, the locking component of the system will eat away at the spherical nub which then nub will then have an appearance of a third axed orange. From continual use it will eventually compromise the locking function, rendering it useless and possibly damaging your investment. Of course this does not account for all batches of the product, there could exist some unknown, unaccounted factors such as the quality of the metals used at the time of creating the locks, and the fact that there will be wear due to the fact the design relies on metal on metal contact without constant lubrication. However i still remain very skeptical about the quality and reliability of the design from the short time of using this product. In the end i simply cannot recommend this product due to the quality and reliability issues based on my expectations. I will not accept a product that cannot even last a year without needing replacement, especially due to the critical functions of a strap lock. For the money and avoiding possible future heart attacks, i would advise looking elsewhere.
What more can you ask for, simple installation and comes with the tool to do it. I just recently discovered these and they will be on everything I play. Simple, well built, and a very good price!
Very good quality, though I couldn't use them on the strap I purchased in conjunction with it. That was my fault and I just grabbed another one of my straps and poof, worked like a charm. They are also very low profile compared to other locks and the have a simple design that just looks elegant.
These strap locks are awesome. They are so much more low profile than other strap locks and these are a lot easier to install and a lot easier to put on and take off. I can't really think of anything better about other brand strap locks. You can put these on and take these off with one hand, but they are super secure and won't come off unless you release them. Even if the washer gets loose and comes off, loxx will still stay connected because the lock mechanism thing is on the other side of the strap. These are seriously a good design.
I bought these based on the good reviews, but after installing them, I have some serious concerns about the design. I really wanted to like this system, but I'll probably replace it as soon as I can with something tested and proven (like the Dunlop). First, the screw itself is very short - it was roughly half the length of my factory screw (PRS Studio). Second, the threads themselves I feel are too fine for a wood screw. I had to fill the factory holes and re-drill for the LOXX system screw. Third, you can't tell from the photos, but the button on the end of the screw that connects the guitar to the lock is very small and only supported by a tiny piece of metal - roughly 1/16 in diameter. I fear that it will not hold up to "energetic" performances. I'll try to upload a photo to illustrate. Fourth, the two pieces that connect to the strap end are threaded together and have only a few threads that secure them. The little tool provided to tighten the parts is proprietary, so don't lose it! Overall, I like the concept, but it feels too under-built, if you know what I mean.
They are very nice and dont poke you in the side when you wear them. I would highly reccommend them to everyone. Just buy them and youll love them.
I have used Schaller strap locks for years, but ever since I tried LOXX I will not go back. LOXX are easier to install, engage and release. LOXX make your strap sit closer to your guitar body than other strap locks as well. These are highly recommended.
After doing a ton of research, I decided on the Loxx brand strap locks for my Epi Les Paul, and I wasn't disappointed. These are a new product, but based on an old design. They were originally intended to hold the rag tops on convertibles, and have been used by Mercedes, BMW and Audi (which speaks volumes about their quality.) What struck me was not only that they were well made, but that they were by far the best looking strap locks available. Installation was easy. The screws were the same as the existing buttons, so it was simply unscrew the old and screw on the Loxx. The part on the strap attaches with a wrench provided. The strap is sandwiched between two very broad pieces of metal, so it isn't going anywhere. The guitar part is a small ball that is grasped by the part on the strap. Simply press it on and it snaps securely in place. When you want to release it, you simply pull up on the button and it falls away easily. You can snap it on and release it quickly with one hand. Very smooth and very well constructed. The manufacturer claims it will hold up to 220 pounds of force, and I don't see any reason to doubt them. Very solid product. With the strap off, the Loxx look very dainty compared to the original button, which I think looks very good. On the guitar, they are not much bigger than the original button so they still look great. No big hunk of metal here. There are a lot of strap locks on the market, and a lot of them are very good, but in terms of being well built and visually attractive, there's nothing better out there than Loxx. I can't recommend this product enough. If you love your guitar and you are in the market for a great set of strap locks to protect your baby, then you're crazy if you buy anything else.
I love these strap locks! I have always hated strap locks for the simple fact that they are (1)too bulky and (2)make the strap sit too far away from the guitar creating this awkward looking gap. These locks are very simple and minimal in design and sit very close to the guitar. Also, no need for twisting/pulling to put them on, simply push. I heard from a guitar center employee that they are made by the people that make the locks for lamborghini hoods. I'm going to buy these for all 7 of my guitars.
