  • Tone killer....

As reviewed by Jay Linton on 3/1/2012

I bought this ABY pedal to toggle between two amps. One is a tube amp and the other a solid state. While the build quality of this pedal is good, it degraded my tone (on the tube amp). It seemed to remove the lows and highs from the signal path to the amp, leaving me with way to much mid-range. It also seemed to attenuate the signal to a noticeable level (less sustain/ring-out). It's almost as if the pedal was acting like a band-pass filter. It's possible that I got a bad pedal - but if that's not the case, I would not recommend this pedal to someone that is particular about their tone, and wants to preserve it. Sound wise I have to give this pedal a 2, and for build quality and functionality I give it a 5 ? hence my rating of a 3.

  • Exellent ABY switch

As reviewed by Jay Kim on 1/9/2012

It is cheap yet VERY good switch box indeed. I've using it for almost a year now and I had no breakdowns or any other problems with it. I have no noise when I switch between the A,B channels and when I use both the A,B at the same time there is nothing that lets me down. A great switch box for a good price.

  • Way Better Than Morley

As reviewed by Dave on 5/2/2011

I bought one of these to replace a Morley ABY, as that box was noisy when it did work, and then just died. I used it to switch from one bass to 2 amps. With the Live Wire, I still get some hum from one amp, but this is more than likely due to the amp itself, rather than the ABY (with the Morley, I'd get noise from both amps). The big plus is the 9v AC jack that runs off of Boss style connections, where as the Morley had to have a battery for the lights to work, and thus had to be unplugged when not in use. I've gotten very use to having the lights on my ABY, so I didn't just buy this because it was cheap. I had considered buying the Radial BigShot, but the footswitches are a bit too close together, and there are no lights on that unit. Great unit fir a great price.
