I purchased a Vox AC15C1 amp. Great amp by the way, but does not have on board channel switching. Prior to purchase I was looking for an ABY switch to accomplish the channel switch. None that I saw online fit the bill for one reason or another. This Live Wire ABY was recommended to me by the salesperson and I'm glad he did. Solidly built pedal. Only needs 9 v (battery or adapter) to power the LED's. Bright blue LED's are very visible even in bright light. Capable of switching channels or using both channels together. Can also be used to connect 2 guitars to one amp as well. Quiet switching too. Am extremely happy I found this pedal.

I bought this ABY pedal to toggle between two amps. One is a tube amp and the other a solid state. While the build quality of this pedal is good, it degraded my tone (on the tube amp). It seemed to remove the lows and highs from the signal path to the amp, leaving me with way to much mid-range. It also seemed to attenuate the signal to a noticeable level (less sustain/ring-out). It's almost as if the pedal was acting like a band-pass filter. It's possible that I got a bad pedal - but if that's not the case, I would not recommend this pedal to someone that is particular about their tone, and wants to preserve it. Sound wise I have to give this pedal a 2, and for build quality and functionality I give it a 5 ? hence my rating of a 3.

Works like a charm!

By Henry

Comments about Livewire ABY1 Guitar Footswitch:

I was searching for an affordable ABY box and stumbled onto this little fella. It has a solid metal chassis and really sturdy buttons. The LEDS shine REALLY BRIGHT BLUE. I use a 9v adapter to power it. It has flawless and immediate switching between my two preamps (Mesa Studio Preamp/Lee Jackson GP-1000). It's not noisy at all. Zero hum. I can tell it's gonna last a loooooooong time. Plus, the design looks great!

Bought one - used two shows - the "B" selector LED stopped working. Took back to Guitar Center - they traded it out - that one lasted 2 months and the "B" selector LED and switch went out.

I went back and bought the Morley. Maybe got two bad ones from Live Wire but I bought cheap….and you usually get what you buy.

Just an "A" switch and a door stop

    By T-Bone

    from Frisco, TX

Comments about Livewire ABY1 Guitar Footswitch:

You know, it really helps when the A and B jacks both work. The A jack works fine, but the B jack gives me absolutely NOTHING. Spend the extra money and get the Morley or Whirlwind, they are much better.

Comments about Livewire ABY1 Guitar Footswitch:

I should have read the reviews before buying this, but it's the only one the store stocks and I was in immediate need. It worked for literally 30 minutes before it stopped grounding properly on the B channel. It's got a massive buzz in the B channel now when you are on the A channel, and my equipment is all brand new and highly shielded. Guitar Center should remove this product (and ideally, this terrible manufacturer) from their line of products entirely. Now I have an hour drive to go return this **** thing.

      Noise bleed issues

      By STACY FENTON

      from Osceola, Ia.

Comments about Livewire ABY1 Guitar Footswitch:

I bought one of these awhile back and never got around to using it until the other day. I used it to A/B between 2 amps and it never completely shut off either amp. I've never used one of these so maybe that's common. I kind of doubt it though. I probably should have got one of better quality, live and learn.

      Exellent ABY switch

      By Jay Kim

      from New Zealand (International)

Comments about Livewire ABY1 Guitar Footswitch:

It is cheap yet VERY good switch box indeed. I've using it for almost a year now and I had no breakdowns or any other problems with it. I have no noise when I switch between the A,B channels and when I use both the A,B at the same time there is nothing that lets me down. A great switch box for a good price.

I've used the same LW ABY pedal for 3 years now. That's with gigging 2-5 nights a week, every week. Has a 1-year warranty, and usually the crew at GC will help you out if something goes wrong. Can't get that with Morley.

        i love it!

        By Josh Caffey

        from Tulsa, OK

Comments about Livewire ABY1 Guitar Footswitch:

Some reviews say this pedal is noisy, some reviews say it's great. I figured I'd try my luck, spend the 50 bucks and I'm SO glad I did! I was pretty mad when I first plugged in and got a bunch of noise, but after an hour of trying different configurations I learned that it was actually a bad cable causing the noise. After swapping cables, all is well. No noise whatsoever, not even when switching channels. If you're having a noise issue, make SURE it's the pedal causing it and not something else! As for the "tone killer" comments, I can't really speak to those. I'm running both channels to the same amp and I love the sound I'm getting.

        Hums like crazy!

        By Daniel

        from Albuquerque, NM

Comments about Livewire ABY1 Guitar Footswitch:

I bought the pedal so I could toggle between two guitars going to a single amp. The construction is solid and it does what it's supposed to do, but I could never get a clean sound out of it. When I first plugged in the guitars and turned on the amp, I got a horrible hum that was so bad it completely ruined the sound coming through the amp. I tried using different cables, using a battery instead of the 9V power supply, and nothing helped. The only thing that lifted the hum was when I touched the metal shielding of the instrument cables going into the box, but who wants to play guitar with one hand holding and instrument cable?

Comments about Livewire ABY1 Guitar Footswitch:

Needed to be able to switch between 2 instruments going into the same pedal board/amp. This does that, but there are some problems.
          1. Significant reduction in tone quality!
          2. Slight volume difference between channel A and channel B
          3. Slight volume drop on both channels compared to bypassing the pedal
          4. Doesn't fully mute either channel.
          5. If both channels A and B are selected, both suffer an unusable reduction in volume and tone quality.

On the positive side, the construction quality is good. Seems like it will last a while even through tour abuse.

Overall it does what its supposed to do just not at a professional quality. I'll be looking to replace this soon.

Comments about Livewire ABY1 Guitar Footswitch:

I use this ABY box to switch between two full 6505+ stacks and it does the job just fine without any loss of tone as far as I can tell. Its not a full bypass so you get a little bit of bleed into the other amp but I'm playing two high gain stacks so who cares right?
