The only cable for your Vax and XTL or Vetta II

By Strat Matt

from Davenport, Iowa

Comments about Line 6 Variax Digital Cable:

This is the only cable you should use to connect your Variax to a POD XTL or a Vetta II amp. It is constructed well and works perfectly, I've heard alot people try and make thier own cable and end up frying thier Variax or amp. Don't do it!! It's not a regular ethernet cable, just buy one of these and protect your investment! GC has the best price on the net, so look no further!

Great cable to use also with the TC Electronic G System

By Steve Freund

from Pasadena, California

Comments about Line 6 Variax Digital Cable:

After searching for the Cat 5 cable mentioned in the TC Electronic G System manual (Cat 5 in XLR housing), I arrived at the Line 6 Variax cable by accident. It is the prefect match for the G System when separated into a rack/floor unit. TC Electronic is not in this country and was not able to give advice on where to get this recommended Cat 5 cable. Here it is!!

Should have bought this a long time ago

By Chris Greenwood

from Glendale, AZ

Comments about Line 6 Variax Digital Cable:

I had held off buying the interface cable because I already had everything I needed to plug in and go. After receiving a gift card recently, I decided to take a look at it again. Seemed like it would be convenient to have one connection and no power issues, so I decided to get it. Being able to hook a second guitar into my POD XT Live is a cool feature when I am teaching, but being able to switch amp AND guitar settings with a stomp is just brilliant. It makes switching tones, especially from a clean acoustic or 12 string to the crunch of a Les Paul so much better and simpler. If you have a Variax and an XT Live, this is a must have!!

2nd VDI cable for use with JTV59 (new)

By Pete Folberth _

from Cincy, Ohio

Comments about Line 6 Variax Digital Cable:

I just purchased this VDI cable to be used with my JTV59P(Korean). Functionally it works fine with one exception, the new cable material is VERY stiff. The source of this stiffness is the outer jacket material. I have a ~1.5 year old VDI cable that I use with a JTV69(K) and that cable is limp like other typical 1/4" guitar cables, no issues. The new VDI cable is so stiff, that even at room temperature it retains loops and kinks (trip hazard) after 2 weeks in the studio. Line6 goofed up with the change in material. I'm an electronic engineer and have designed custom cables for DOD uses, and jacket material is typically a difficult trade space for ruggedness vs. compliance (limpness). IMHO, Line6 should go back to the old material or Alpha Extraguard 2 type jacket. Also suggest using adhesive lined 4:1 heat shrink vs the thin material used for the end strain protection (with the Line6 logo printing).

Great for your Bose PA tone match to base extension.

Comments about Line 6 Variax Digital Cable:

I have a Bose Model one L2/ B2 Bass module with tone match PA, and needed a longer Digital cord than the 18 footer Bose provided from the Tone match to the unit. Variax offered a 25 footer to do the job. Got the first cord, but had to send it back due to one end not fitting into the system (must of been a slight defect). Received the replacement cord a couple of days later, and it works great. I'll keep the 18 footer for a spare. If you are using it for a Bose PA, you will have to "play with it a little" in order for it to click into the slots, due to a tight fit. The end are much more durable that the original cord that came with the system.

    A must have

Comments about Line 6 Variax Digital Cable:

If you have a POD and a Variax then this is a 'must have' cable. I use an HD500X and a James Tyler Variax 59 and this is a flexible, sturdy chord that connects easily to both guitar and board. Long enough to allow the occasional walk around and makes connecting/disconnecting to the guitar much easier.

Comments about Line 6 Variax Digital Cable:

I have been use Line 6 products for years and they make a good gear. But, recently I put together a "Dream Rig". With a DT50 HD, Variax JTV-69 and POD HD500X. The Line 6 Variax Digital Cable is a must-have for connecting all the pieces together. You can use a Standard CAT5 cable. But, this cable has a housing at both ends that locks into guitar and POD to protect it from damage, and that itself is worth the price of admission. It also keeps the guitar powered when plugged in, saving the battery life in your guitar. Don't jam without it.
