Variax 600

Comments about Line 6 Variax 600 Guitar:

This is an awesome guitar, but not if you are a purest. If you're looking for something with a sound close to original without having to buy 20+ top guitars, this one is for you. Great sounds! Awesome flexibility when used with the Pot XT Live and the Variax workbench.

Great great versatile guitar

Comments about Line 6 Variax 600 Guitar:

I got the Line 6 Variax when it first came out and it really is a great guitar. All of the models sound amazing and even the acoustic models give a very realistic sound. This is the only guitar I use for playing live or recording because it pretty much does everything. If you have the cash, go for it you will not find a better value.

Comments about Line 6 Variax 600 Guitar:

I now have owned the Variax 600 for 6 wks. It's sound is super close to what it says your playing. The 12 string selections are right on. The Rickenbacker sound is really perfect, sounds just like George Harrison. The only thing I would like to see changed is the knob positions, the guitar selection knob should be the one closest to the strings. In a dim lite room I have a hard time reading the print on the knob. Other than that, the guitar is well worth the money,,, Job well Done...........

Simply amazing

Comments about Line 6 Variax 600 Guitar:

A fantastic way to take a wide range of instruments to a gig or recording session. Sort of feels like a Strat to hold and play, so it's very comfortable. The modeling is very close and unless your a purist or had one of the modeled guitars to compare it with, you'd never know the difference. The foot controller is a little "chincey" in that the LED mounts are flimsy. But the supplied cord and power supply seem to work well. A nice touch is being able to move often used sound models to one of the "custom" positions. This makes switching sounds a lot faster at gigs. All in all, a great value.

never a noise issue..ever!

Comments about Line 6 Variax 600 Guitar:

I was reading one review that said that if you are a purest then this probably isn't the AX for you....well that is very true. If you are used to single coil noise and a dive bomb tremelo then this is probably not for you. I have played clubs where the ground loop hum is horrible for someone with a traditional guitar, especially with overdrive or distortion settings not to mention single coil pickups, but you will get NO 60 cycle hum or noise at all from this guitar. I have both the 700 & 600 series of Line 6 Variax guitars. I believe the 700 is made better and more stable. I have had no problems with the 700. The 600 however just never holds tune very well, always needs tweaked harmonically, the rotary sound selector falls out and the volume pot had to be replaced because it broke (free spining all the way around)! I will say that the fine people at Line 6 sent me a new volume pot TOTALLY FREE, THEY EVEN PAID FOR THE SHIPPING....and the customer service representative appologized for this problem over and over again. That was refreshing!!! I used to have a 500 series and sold it to buy the 600...I wish I would have kept the 500 (which Line 6 does not make anymore). The 500 was made better with a standard tail piece. It was a very soild made instrument. If you are a dive bomb tremelo user this is not the guitar for you since when you dive to too far the string looses contact with the hexaphonic pickup which is located on the bridge right in front of the saddle for each string. So you won't be able to reproduce the Eddie Van Halen dive bombs on any of the Variax guitars. But for normal use the sounds are great and very useful...especially in a studio / recording setting. There is no noise and tons of sounds to chose at the flip of a switch. I know I'll keep my 700 but I think I'll try to sell my 600 since I've had so many issues with it. Oh by the matter if you decide to buy the 600 or the 700 series you will need to replace the tuners. Line 6 does not install locking tuners from the factory and you will need those for these tremelo guitars, especially if you like the bridge to float. I installed Sperzel locking tuners on both of mine and the 700 even needed a replacement nut too because it comes with a "bone" nut and the string kept getting pinched even when you put graphite in the string slot. All in all it's a great guitar for the money...a nice quite AX and a whole bunch of guitar tones too!
