If you are not using ASIO drivers for your DAW, stay away!!! I use WDM drivers w/Sonar and you only get a L, R, and stereo output from the GearBox software. It will NOT work as a multi-input computer interface. Even when I set-up a project using the ASIO driver, the latency was WAY too long and there were far too many "drop-outs" for the unit to be of use when trying to multi-track. I'm a long time user of Line 6 gear, but this needs more work. Everything could probably be fixed with different drivers, but for now this will be going back.

Perfect for Home Studio

By Michael Stollaire

from North Hollywood, California

If you are looking for the very best option for the least price with the most options, you've found it. Line 6 simply IS tone, and this is the best deal I've ever seen. I invested $500, and saved thousands of dollars in studio costs, time spent traveling to and from the studio, etc. If you don't buy this gear, you have made one serious mistake. ~ Michael Stollaire

Awesome piece of equipment

By Randy Hacker

from Jefferson, OR

The Line 6 UX8 is an awesome piece of equipment. I purchased my unit about 6 months ago and for a small studio you can't beat it for ease of use and quality of product. There are plenty of inputs to do multiple singers and instruments and the USB interface makes connection to a computer quick and easy. Works well with Reaper and I'm pretty sure probably tons of other software. The price was right for me and, for the money, you'll get more than your money's worth. Line 6 hit a homerun with this product. With the POD Farm interface you get tons of excellent tones and sounds. Latency isn't an issue with this unit. (Even with my needing to be updated computer) The controls and inputs are super intuitive as is the POD Farm software. This is the second piece of Line 6 equipment I've purchased and, after my experience with the POD HD400, I decided to give Line 6 a shot at the recording interface slot. Not even a hint of disappointment. If Line 6 has an update.....the Line 6 Monkey comes to the rescue. Updating your equipment is as simple as connecting via USB and clicking a button. When I'm ready for my next piece of equipment, my first search will be Line 6.

Excellent for Small home studio or Road recording!!

By BobbyDrums

from Paradise Valley Arizona

Looking to build a studio in your home? This unit does what it claims 8 simultaneous tracks. I have the newest Mac's 2011's, use Logic Pro,Record drums PERFECT & scores the project, every instrument perfect! Use Pro Tools in studio and have started using Logic Pro at home in studio and at live gigs. Don't blame this Line6 UX8 when the problem is the computer and software you are using.

Great Product for the money!

By Lon

from Fayetteville, NC

Overal It does exactly what it says. You can hook up your guitar/bass/or vocal mic and add effects to it like you would your normal amp. To multi-track record you have to have an ASIO compatible recording software for it to recognize each of the 8 tracks. I was using cool edit pro 2.0 but now I have to upgrade to something else. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because I had to go online and search for X64 Bit OS drivers for it to work. Also the manual says nothing about multitrack recording I had to search the forums to find out why my software wasn't seeing the 8 tracks. The manual only talks about the guitar inputs. Seems to be built really well and after I found the correct software and drivers on the line 6 website it was fairly easy to install. I am glad I got this and expect to create some cool stuff with it. If you don't want to spend thousands of dollars this is the device for you especially if you play guitar.

Not meant for logic with a Mac

By RIkki Toker

from staten island, new york

The problem with this unit was that it looks good and looks like its built to last, but even with all the drivers updated, and all the customer support, i could not manage to get a clear sound coming from my monitors or the headphone jack. I am not a noob to recording, i used to have pro tools le with a digi 003 and that worked fine. The disc that came with the line 6 tone port ux8 was outdated and i needed to call customer support just to get the update. IF this product works for someone i bet it would be a good piece to have. But to be safe you're better off with an m audio profire 2626

Works Great

By Dave Meredith

from Bastrop, TX

Bought this at guitar center about a year and a half ago. I intended to use 4 inputs for two guitars, 2 for a bass, 2 for mics and two for a mixer with an electric drum kit. Ironically, they tried to turn me away from it because they said that the latency was terrible and that it wouldn't handle everything I was intending to throw at it. I bought it anyway since I was only planning on doing one or two devices at a time, but the device scales to the system it is used with, which was perfect for me. I can record all 8 inputs at once to seperate streams within sonar 8 without a problem with asio drivers. Works great.

Total CPU Hog!

By Robert

from NC

If you can afford the computer power that it takes to run this thing, then you can afford something better than this. It simply takes too much CPU and because of that its quality doesn't justify its cost.
