Overview

The result of a groundbreaking collaborative effort between living-legend amp designer Reinhold Bogner and renowned amp-modeling upstarts Line 6, Spider Valve MkII 112 40-watt combo amplifier offers the best of both worlds: brawny, boutique-style tube amp tone and the latest, most advanced Line 6 amp modeling with complete flexibility and deep editing.

Acclaimed amp tones
The Line 6 Spider Valve 112 amp has the tools and tones you need to build your sound from the ground up. It features 16 of the most advanced Line 6 amp models, which were inspired by the most revered American, British and European heads and combos. Each one was custom-tuned for Spider Valve MkII amps.

Get in front of sparkling clean tones inspired by a Hiwatt Custom 100, syrupy smooth drive tones inspired by a mix of a '65 Marshall JTM-45, a '58 Fender Bassman and a '63 Fender Vibroverb, British pop/rock tones inspired by a Vox AC-30 Top Boost, high-gain onslaughts inspired by a Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier and a Diezel Herbert, Class A crunch inspired by a Divided by 13 9/15, classic Class A breakup inspired by an Orange AD-30, and more! Store every gig's tones with the Line 6 Spider Valve's 128 user-programmable presets.

Need to shape your tone? Tweak the Line 6 Spider Valve amplifier's Bass, Mid and Treble knobs just like you would on the original vintage amps. When you choose an amp model, the EQ section behaves just like the EQ section of the modeled amplifier. Line 6 Spider Valve 112 MkII guitar amp gives you a complete, organic and fully authentic representation of its 16 vintage and modern amplifiers.

An instant sound collection of essential FX
Start smart and dive deep with the unprecedented control of Line 6 Smart FX. It features 20 brilliant effects, delivering unprecedented color, adjustability and routing options. You can tweak up to 6 parameters of any effect”including the intelligent Smart Harmony and Pitch Glide, and easy-to-use 14-second Quick Loop”and route it pre or post for an extraordinary collection of tone-shaping tools. Plus, you get every guitarist's required palette of colors including beautiful Delays, tangy Mods, lush Reverbs and more. Up to 4 effects can be used simultaneously.

Fully editable, deeply sophisticated
Line 6 Spider Valve MkII 112 is poised to become the workhorse amp for all kinds of pro players. Its seamless integration into MIDI rigs allows for quick changes to all front-panel controls, easy synching of your time-based effects (to themselves and to your drummer's click-track) as well as other time- and energy-saving features. Plus, two output modes deliver easy and effective solutions for direct-recording and gigging. Performance Mode lets you send a signal, which provides tube and modeling interaction, via the XLR out to the front-of-house engineer. Studio Mode bypasses the tubes to send the platinum-album Line 6 modeling only.

Brawny tube tone
Many so-called tube amps employ low-voltage "marketing" tubes to add authenticity to their "tube amp" claim. The Line 6 Spider Valve MkII 112 guitar amp boasts bona fide Bogner-designed preamp and power amp sections that run at lethal voltages (about 300 volts and 450 volts, respectively) to produce exceptional depth, tonal coloration and richness.

The signal from the Line 6 front-end flows into the pair of 12AX7 preamp tubes to produce creamy, cascading distortions and enriched tube harmonics. The perfectly matched pair of 6L6 power tubes then drives the Celestion Vintage 30 speaker to provide unprecedented sonic impact.

Exceptional feel
After being poured from the 12-inch Celestion Vintage 30 speaker, your tone soaks up the spanky thump of the tuned three-quarter closed-back cabinet. The result is a guitar speaker with tight low-end punch for a truly exceptional feel.

Handsfree control and more
Line 6 FBV foot controllers deliver out-of-the-box volume/wah, pitch control, preset control and more. FBV Shortboard MkII pairs perfectly with Line 6 Spider Valve 112 to offer complete, handsfree control of the on-board Line 6 Spider Valve MkII effects including Quick Loop, Smart Harmony and more. The guitar amplifier's bright and backlit oversized LCD makes it easy to see preset names and the chromatic tuner.

This amp was recommended to me by a helpful salesman at Guitar Center. At first, I did not like the idea of a "one amp fits all" -- the jack of all trade stuff has a tendency to be a bit gimmicky but not this one. You can dial in so many great tones with it. Rich, luscious sounds. I am hook on tubes. Best sounding amp that I have tried, period. It's a powerful amp to boot giving that it's 40w. Love the clean tone with all the modulations such as delays, chorus, flanger. Sounds just as good as separate pedals in my opinions. I was not as impress with the distortion channels, a bit muddy overall in my opinion. The one minor gripe is the built in tuner. While useful, it's a bit inaccurate and is hard to get the exact pitch easily. Still messing around with this amp but so far, I think it's a winner.

I bought this based on reviews here.I was looking to downsize for gigs, but have multiple near instant access to multiple amp settings, which it delivers. Onboard effects I disabled to judge the amp's tone/switching. Initially, i was enthusiastic to replace my mesa triaxis/2;90 rig with something smaller/lighter to gig with. The spider valve doesnt sound bad onits own; however, when I played at practice ( with personal presets I programmed, again no effects)with the rest of the band, it left a lot to be desired. Very directional, and the amp either got lost in the mix(more often) or stood out as a sore thumb. very distracting to my performance which was noticed by every one else. It may be unfair to judge against mesa equipment, and i may be spoiled, but i did approach it with an open mind, knowing it wasnt going to match my rig, but hoping for something passable

Great Value

By Kenneth Kreider

from Herndon VA

I bought this amp to upgrade from the Spider IV 30 watt Line 6. I already had the FBV Shortboard and wanted the power of the tube amp. It really is a powerful combination of a modeling amp with the power of a 40 watt tube amp. My only complaint is that all of the presets are too loud! I had to go through all of them and reduce the channel volume by a factor of 3 or 4! Now I'm working on finding a good combination of presets to fit my style. Some of the original presets are cute but not very practical. I play my Taylor T-5, PRS Custom 24, and my Godin Strat all through this amp. I have only had it one month, but I think it is a keeper. It is a heavier amp than the Spider IV 30.

Portable, versatile, big sounding amp

By Ramon Minjares

from Diamond Bar, CA

I love, love, LOVE this amp. I also have the Spider Valve MKII HD100 half stack and love it as well, but I found I needed something I could haul back and forth easily to practice so I bought the Spider Valve MKII 112. Turns out I not only use this amp exclusively for practice, I use it 90% of the time for our gigs. Trust me, unless your doing large shows, it'll be plenty loud enough for most of your gigs as well. I love the Line 6 modeling capability, and I have all my presets dialed in so I can select whatever sound I need with my FBV Shortboard. I highly recommend this amp both for its versatility and effects, to go with portability and big sound in a small package.

Great Amp

By kevin Peters

from Cincinnati Ohio

I bought this amp with the FBV to use in a cover band that plays a variety of music from 60's to current. My previous amps included a Soldano Hot Rod 50 and a Mesa Dual Rec solo, as well as a bunch of smaller combo's (class A's etc). I've been able to dial in my favorite tones from the Mesa and Soldano, as well as a nice warm clean, a plexi type tone for 70's and 80's rock, and a great blues tone like my old class A combo. The amp does everything I need it to do, and more. It's relatively simple to use and the Line 6 software is handy for changing out what effects are used on each patch and backing up your amp config. Had a few other pro players play through it and all were very impressed.

TOP NOTCH!

By bryan mooney

from King of Prussia, PA

I have been in the process of looking for an amp that has a great tube sound as well as all the effects to boot. This amp really has it all. I have been purchasing and trading in/exchanging a bunch of amps the past 2 years (marshall stacks, combos, etc) and my search is over. I can get so many great sounds from this amp and it's unbelievable the combinations you can create. No other amp I tried had the great metal sound that this created. Add the FBV shortboard or Express for sure and you can download custom tones created by users on line6 website. It also allows you to add 56 more effects with the free download from the site with the purchase of the FBV board. This amp is LOUD too if you need it. You can also turn it down enough to play in your bedroom without sacraficing sound. This amp has it all and I won't be buying anohter amp unless this one breaks or needs to be replaced for some reason.

All the metal you want

By Michael M

from Sherwood, Or

I play mostly metal and was looking for a combo that I could practice and record with. Originally looking at Marshall combos when a friend who worked for Line 6 said I should check out the Spider Valve. I was thinking, "there is no way that a line 6 would get the metal tone's that I needed". I was wrong! From my Ibanez 7 String to my ESP 6 string this amp rocks! Tons of gain, and crystal clean tone. I am very picky with distortion quality and this is the only amp I would recommend for metal guitar players. I'm sold on Line 6!

Crank the master!

By Dan

from afghanistan

One thing that I found is that the this amp sound a million times better it you crank the master volume and turn down the channel volume (tighten's up the low end). I have had this amp here in Afghanistan with me for about 6 months no issues at all.

Sweet Amp

By John

from Santa Barbara, CA

This amp can get really loud! On less than a quarter of the way up on the volume knob it could be easily heard throughout the entire store. it sounds great even at low volumes too. The built in effects are cool, but it works better with other pedals, like Boss. You just plug them into the back of the amp. Itll work for just about any genre as well. Handles distortion extremely well. Given that it's also pretty cheap, I would reccomend this to anyone. Maybe if you're doing more gigging than you would go with the 212 or a 4x12 setup, but this is definitely good enough for a small or mid sized bar or something.

Best amp for playing different styles.

By Hebrews121

from Knoxville, Tennessee

The Line 6 Spider Valve 112 MKII 40W amplifier with Bogner Tubes has a very unique sound. You can dial in warm distortions, bright distortions, and just pure muffled distortions, but any distortion sounds you get is normally fantastic. Then as you slowly move towards clean you get into the crunchy sounds, which again are all over the place, warm, bright, full of echo, or no echo at all. Clean sounds amazing as well, I do wish you could get a warmer clean sound but no amp is perfect, which is why most guitar player's own more than one, but if you just want one, I would recommend this one for the job. Another complaint is that it is somewhat heavy and awkward to carry, but it doesn't affect the sound at all, of course.
