The one thing I didn't like about my line six was it wasn't a tube amp. I looked everywhere for a tube amp that had the verstility of the spider II, found nothing anywhere. Now the "perfect amp". There quite literally is nothing else to compare it to. Whatever I feel like playing is right there, country twang, rock distortion, whatever. Get it,thank me later.

Basically what Line 6 created was a modeling amp that contains a POD front end which feeds a signal into a tube amp; 2 12ax7s and 2 5881s (different for the head version). This is the same sound you can get if you stick your POD 2.0 into a tube guitar amp so there isn't much inovation going on here. The only difference is that the tube section is dialed in for the POD signal. The presets are nice but you'll only use around 4 or 5 of the 400+ presets. There will be a lot of tweaking to find your sound but this is the case when you run your POD 2.0 into your regular guitar amp. Caution! As you switch through the different modeling channels, the volume on this thing can abruptly change as each model has a preset optimized volume and tone setting . It is annoying. Also, after you switch channels, the tone knobs have to be moved around to activate them as each model channel's preset levels may not coincide with the postions of the knobs. There are some effects but nothing to write home about since they are very limited. No real connectivity. Made to run with a Line 6 foot board which will run a couple of hundred more. A lot of people are going gaga over this because Bogner helped design it. It's true that he wouldn't put his name on just any piece of junk but at the same time, it's like he's ready to cash in on his good name with this mass produced, chinese made amp. Buyer beware The amp does sound ok but I would take the beauty of a Marshall JCM 800 or a Fender Twin any day over this.

It

By CJ

from Andover Minnesota

This combo is "It". I've owned many different amps over my 20 years of playing. This amp can cover so many different styles it's not funny. I can't imagine anyone getting bored with this product. You never really run out of new sonic options. Compared to any "modelling amp" I've ever heard prior, this amp has a much more alive and organic feel. The Presence control can remove any hint of boxiness. Most presets have a bit too much bass for my ear. To really hit my target tones I've turned down the bass on most presets to around 9am, and upped the presence to at least the noon position. It's funny that reviews on other sites will state that this is not a tube amp from a purist perspective. While this may be true, we know many of the classic tones through history featured non-tube components prior to hitting the amp. Something amazing happens once the signal hits the power tubes on this amp. The more volume you play with, the more tonal payback with this amp. I'd definitely recommend this amp to anybody.

TONE

By JakeGibsonExplorer

from TEXAS

This amp has tons of versatility and pure tube tone!!! I prefer this amp over most of the top brands out there that cost 3 times this much. The built in overdrive, tuner, and noise suppressor are life savers!!! It takes a while to tweak the sounds you want, but i assure you, you'll find exactly what you're looking for. Also CRANK IT UP!!!! it does get insanely loud!!!! My favorite setting is Metal Blue- everything at noon and noise suppreessor activated. Amazing crunchy hotrodded Marshall tone!!!!! GET IT

Perfect amp!

By Jari Maenpaa

from Salt Lake City, UT

I have had this amp for over a year, no problems with it yet. I love the sound, amazing distortion and reverb. Not really digital sounding like most other Line 6's I played. If you dont have a grand or two for a Marshall or Mesa Boogie, this is a steal deal. I play alot of Wintersun and Ensiferum and this does the job. No matter what style you play it can do it all. The preset effects are rather lame with exception of a handful.

Line 6 Spider Valve 112 amp

By Tom

from Vancouver, WA

After playing around with some Line 6's, I loved the versatility and "fun factor" but found the tones less than satisfying. I was in the market for a tube combo amp with good tone, useable effects, and amp modeling that was atually pleasing to the ear for a decent price. After being continually let down, I finally found the Spider Valve and instantly fell in love. I've had mine for about 4 months now and still blown away with the versatility and quality of tone. I love playing metal and blues, but also play in church and need smooth, creamy tones and this amp fully delivers on all fronts. Just with my Schecter C1 Elite with SD Blackout active pickups, I can achieve pretty much any sound I need. Highly, highly recommended, especially for the price.

Amazing Amp

By John Brown

from sycamore, illinois

I bought this amp a year ago and it has done nothing but impress me. The effects are sick and the soft tube sound really blends perfectly with the effects. If you buy a fender or marshall combo you will be very limited but this amp really has unlimited potential. If you buy this amp you will thank me later.

ground shakeing loud

By brett

from memphis

I just got a spider 3 120w amp for christmas. when it was in my room it sounded great and loud. It had all the cool effects build in. It was a perfect ((practice amp)) not much more. When I went to my friends house to play it with a drum, you start to hear things you didn't hear in your room, And it was not quite loud as it seamed to be in my room. the other friend that was there had the 150w spider 3 half stack. It blew me away. So I thought I would try this one. This amp will make your hair stand up, when you paly a power cord. The louder it get the better it sounds. it worth the extra money. if you want a amp with a amp with a balls get.

Awesome Amp

By Doug

from Central City, KY

I have been looking for a tube modeling amp forever. I was not disappointed. This baby screams. Whether it is Fender, Marshall, Vox etc, I can dial them all up with the same sound of a tube amp. You can get rid of your effect pedals. The only thing missing is a head phone jack for late night jamming. Even with the jack missing, it still is a 10 +

Oh yeah!!!!

By xXZacHXx

from Tampa, FL

The amp is awsome, great response, awsome sound quality but the presets and effects are pretty weak. Most of the presets are very similiar, the echo is really weak and has to be turned up all the way to hear, at least with most presets. If you are expecting a Bogner save your money, but this is a really good tube amp for the price, but if you have a little more to spend look at krank or Bogners if you really know what you want.

Killer Amp!!!

By Anthony Frank TEN96

from Chicago

Hi, this amp is incredible!! The tones now with tubes are endless. I own alot of line6 stuff and this, by far is the best. If you want a tube amp with everything you need this is it. The shortboard is the way to go. I owned the hd 100 head, which didnt give me enough distortion, leads. But this amp has it. Bogner did a great job with this amp. Test it out, guranteed your sold. Great job LINE6.....
