Amp Models:

Clean

Red LED: Crisp, shimmering clean tones and warm jazz tones.
Green LED: Glassy clean tones like those from the late 60s/early 70s. Inspired by a '73 Hiwatt Custom 100.

Twang

Red LED: Classic, glassy high-end with some snap and bite. Inspired by a Fender blackface '65 Twin Reverb and a blackface '64 Deluxe Reverb.
Green LED: Swingin' rockabilly tone a la vintage tweed. Inspired by a '53 Fender tweed Deluxe Reverb, a '58 Fender tweed Bassman, and a '60 Gibson Explorer.

Blues

Red LED: From gritty, swampy clean tones to syrupy smooth drive tones this was inspired by a mix of a '65 Marshall JTM-45, a '58 Fender Bassman, a '63 Fender Vibroverb, and a Supro.
Green LED: Early British rock tone made famous by the Beatles and the Stones. Inspired by a fawn Vox AC-30 with an updated and expanded tone control circuit.

Crunch

Red LED: Classic crunchy tone popularized by many early metal bands. Inspired by a '68 Marshall Plexi 50-watt.
Green LED: The infamous brown sound inspired by a '68 Marshall Plexi 100-watt with a few added extras - jumped input channels and a Variac transformer.

Metal

Red LED: Tight and punchy high-gain sound inspired by a Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier.
Green LED: Use this for aggressive high-gain sound. The mid knob sweeps the tone spectrum. Set to minimum for fuzz-pedal characteristics, set to noon for creamy, modern high-gain, or crank it for Class A carnage.

Insane

Red LED: Famed and feared bone-crushing, brain-piercing grind inspired by the Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier red channel.
Green LED: Short of a complete meltdown, this provides as much input-gain distortion as possible while retaining tonal definition and character.

40 years of been there, done that has taught me alot...mainly that you have to keep an open mind, especially in music! I have played dang near every amp out over the last 50 years and have my favs, but this Line 6 Jam amp is not only alot of creative fun to work with, but the modeling is very, very impressive. I can hear alot of dead-on sounds with most of the amp models. Simple to use, motivates the creative juices, and sounds so flexible and easy to dial in. I wont be packing up my other amps, but this is my go-to for writing and recording. And I will gig with this! Backing tracks alone are worth this just for practice and writing.

This amp was great when I first purchased it. The instant record and loop function is really cool to play with. It's also nice that a mic can be plugged into it for recording and looping vocals and or acoustic guitar. Saddly, I started experienceing issues with the amp after 6 months of home use. When trying to save recorded tracks to the SD card slot the amp would shut off and nothing could be saved. I've also started to experience issues with the recording and looping function not working. Very dissapointed with the quality.

Fricken Sweet

By Joe S

from Naples, Florida

Comments about Line 6 Spider Jam 75W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

Well, I got this as a b-day gift... and man-o-man, it is just simply amazing. I upgraded from a 15 watt amp with a Hot Head pedal, and this is trully amazing, it has everything I will ever need. I sat down with it at 8pm and didn't get done with it until 2am... thank god I live in the middle of nowhere! Too bad I live in apartments back at school, this will be such a tease! I would really recommend this amp to anyone. The drum beat function is excellent for learning tempo, too. Line 6, I give you an A++

Comments about Line 6 Spider Jam 75W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

this thing is great! its got all the settings you would ever need to shape your own tone. it has sooooo many settings to choose from. the only real thing that irks me is that the jam recordings arent very heavy. they arent good for any kind of metal solos. the same goes for the drum tracks. theyre good for blues and country and soft rock. the recording feature isnt bad except youll need one of those fbv pedals to make a half decent recording. well thats all i can think of to say for now.

A great little amp with a lot

By Marshall Brence

from Poteau, Ok

Comments about Line 6 Spider Jam 75W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

I bought this about 5 months ago and love it. It has a good amount of power (plenty for the practice room/bedroom). I haven't used it on stage yet, but will in about 2 weeks, so I will know about how the power is for live playing. I love the Jam Tracks. There is a lot of variety of styles and with a little tinkering, you can change speeds and keys. I would like to have it change key with changing speed, but it makes you practice every key and tempo. The only real negatives are the foot pedal board has to be purchased separately, there is not a line out to hook into a mixer, and there is no external speaker jack. However, it is easy to learn how to run, the recorder is cool and the jam tracks are great. I come home and can play with a full band even when no one is around. I like all the amp and guitar settings and you do have a lot of choices for custom settings. I used it for my son's wedding reception to run my Ipod and a mic through. It had plenty of clean sound for a big room and was easy to carry and set up. This is a neat little amp that is very versitile. I will use it a lot.

This isn't some kiddie toy!

By Rockin' Ricky

Comments about Line 6 Spider Jam 75W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

25 years of bands, recordings, and touring with just about every conceivable amp ever made. But I needed to have a variety available to me without having a room full of expensive amps, so I needed to scale down to a modeling amp to simplify things. Before the purchase though, I reviewed, played, poked, and prodded every available one. I thought Line 6 was just for heavy metal types, so I discounted it for quite a while. Well, I was very wrong! Not only is the various models on this amp fantastic and very real to the originals, but the "Jam" features have really brought out more creativity in my writing and practice and have even pushed me to learn styles I've never considered playing before! This amp is a must for any Serious Guitarist! Period!

Works Only For Awhile

By bill c

from CA, Gilroy

Comments about Line 6 Spider Jam 75W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

I've had this amp for almost a year and a half and it was great. Unfortunately, this amp has to be upgraded eventually by a SD CARD because when I turn it on it says on the screen that there is no FIRMWARE UPGRADE in the unit and the amp will not work until there is an upgrade. I had no idea that there even was a card slot in the back of this amp! I tried downloading the Firmware upgrade on the Line6 website but my Windows XP computer doesn't support the file for it and wont download. I'm not going to download another Line6 program that is supposed to help download a certain file from their website because those programs are like 70-55KB and taking up too much space. Line6 should warn people about this because now I have to get a new amp.

IMPRESSED WITH SPIDER JAM

By HAMMERIN' HANK

from morgantown wv

Comments about Line 6 Spider Jam 75W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

I have had the Spider Jam for about 2 weeks and for the most part am very satisfied. I jammed for hours with it right out of the box. The jam tracks and drum tracks are real recordings that you can really play along with. I wish it had a button for "fill-in" beats and endings. Being able to record and overdub is superb. The different guitar sounds are very good. The volume is excellent to "cut through" if playing in a live band. I would recommend spider jam for anyone of any level who wants to improve their guitar playing. My chops have improved dramatically in just 2 weeks of jamming with the jam track loops! My Spider Jam is worth every penny!

Great all in one amp!

By Joey

from sacramento, ca

Comments about Line 6 Spider Jam 75W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

People say that the amp sound quality is sub par. I don't know if it's because of the firmware upgrades or what but my amp is not muddy. This amp has an amazing preset selection of sounds from various artist all the way back to the 50's as well as multiple distortions built into it. When i need a rhythm to jam with this will takes care of me. if you're feeling like just playing your guitar switch it over to performance and the amp is extremely crisp, no background noise. I think if you take the time to learn about the amp and it's too many options to list here, you will be more than pleased with the performance and capabilities of the spider jam. The Line 6 website has complete manuals to download you should read as well as spend a couple of hours pushing buttons and learn the amp before you slam it. It's like getting an I phone or Droid and saying it sucks because you've never played with one before and they aren't great... this is the smart phone of amps and is easily the best 75 watt amp on the market for what you get out of it.

Good for practice

By Kyle

from Indiana

Comments about Line 6 Spider Jam 75W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

This is a very good practice amp and features a very fun and nice on board effects processor. It's very fun to record to and features nice quality when you do. The only problem with this amp is the inability when playing with very heavy distortion. The notes are not as distinct as a tube amp, and it will sound some what cluttered and muddy. That being said, I always plan on keeping this amp for practice. I would recommend the purchase to anyone learning or experienced players looking for cheap fun at home.

The Swiss Army knife of amps.

By High Voltage

from Seattle, WA

Comments about Line 6 Spider Jam 75W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

I am a bit of an old-schooler when it comes to my gear. I own a few vintage guitars, and a few nice tube amps. I had heard a lot about this amp for a while now from friends and other local musicians I know around town. I just wasn't so sure about all the fancy digital features and such. I am used to plugging it in, warming it up, and playing. If I want distortion, just crank the gain. But I thought I would give one of these a try. I really like the "jam track" feature. The tracks are all studio recordings of live musicians, not cheesy MIDI's. The recording feature is really cool too. The recording quality is quite good. It is really handy for working on your solo chops. Now for the not so good. Since there are a million and a half different features, sounds and effects, there is a bit of a learning curve for old-schoolers like me to get the sounds we want. It is a lot of dinking around with settings, scrolling thru menues and stuff just to get dialed in. Secondly the models and effects are good but not great. You can dial it in and get a fairly decent tube sound out of it, but it's not the real thing. Same goes with a lot of the other effects and models. A musician I talked to described it best. "It's like a Swiss Army knife. It has a zillion different tools on it that get the job done. But in the end a spoon is a spoon, a knife a knife, and you'll still need a saw to cut down a tree".

The best jam amp ever made!!!

By David George

from Dunedin, FL

Comments about Line 6 Spider Jam 75W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

My stage amp is a Spider IV 75, so I was already somewhat used to the setup on these amps. I wandered in one day to my local Guitar Center and saw this amp and wondered what the difference was between this and my Spider IV. One of the sales guys came over and showed me the basics of how the jam and recording works and I spent the next hour and a half in the store having an absolute BLAST playing with this thing!!! There was no question the amp was going home with me. Although the Spider Jam incorporates much of the same amp modeling settings as the Spider IV, it's missing some of the Spider IV's basic settings such as a dedicated Class A model. But by and large this can be compensated for with one of the other models. Other than that, it appears to have all the same settings and pre-sets of the Spider IV. What really distinguishes this amp is it's jam capabilities, which are truly remarkable. It comes with a large set of pre-made jam tracks covering almost any genre you can think of. You simply scroll through them and it will give you a sample of what that track is. Once you find one you like, hit the play button and start jamming with a full band. The recorded jam tracks were clearly done in a studio and are very professional. The looping is absolutely seamless on all the tracks I've tried. If that's not enough for you, you can record your own jam track by simply hitting the record, playing your sequence, and turning off record. This jam track can be saved to memory for future use. However, the best feature for me was the ability to incorporate other jam tracks via an SD card you slip into the back of the unit. Since I own a home recording setup I could easily create full jam tracks with bass, drums, guitar, and keyboard (even vocals if I wanted). I then save them off to the SD card, plug it into the amp, and then I can select them and play with them to my heart's content. I've even used this capability to create jam tracks for new songs we're learning and take the amp to practice sessions so everyone can get a feel for their parts. Admittedly, it's a bit hefty for a practice amp, but that's because it could easily be used as a backup for my stage amp if need be. If you're new to Line 6 modeling amps, be prepared to spend some time learning all the technology built into this amp. You can spend several hours or days just mastering the extensive modeling characteristics, much less the full potential of the jamming features. I would STRONGLY SUGGEST you download the Spider IV advanced guide from the Line 6 support site as this covers the intricacies of not only the modeling, but the range of settings available for tweaking the effects that come with the amp. Not all of the effects from the Spider IV are in the Spider Jam, but most of them are. This is one powerful little amp with great sound. Don't let the tube amp snobs fool you. They're living in the past and even they wouldn't be able to tell the difference between this amp and the tube amp it's modeling in a double blind test..that's been proven time and time again. I've played my Spider amp in all sorts of venues, including outdoors and I get nothing but compliments from both the band and the audience on how it sounds. And because we tend to play a variety of genre's, I'm one of the few that can match my amp to the style of music we're playing just by selecting a different stored preset. I even have a setting for my acoustic guitar that works extremely well and the effects allow me to compensate for the loss of body out of the piezo-electric pickups. Granted, all our instruments are mic'd so your mileage may vary if you're playing outdoors and have to crank the amp too high.

Great Sound and Price

By Pete Van Winkle

from Kennesaw GA

Comments about Line 6 Spider Jam 75W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

Got the Line 6 Spider Jam 75 after some UTube research and an in store demo. This amp sounds excellent. The Clean and Twang channels are very good. Real nice with the five-position switch in the second (or is that the fourth?) position near the neck. Little reverb, chorus, and delay... you get the picture. It's real good. The green Crunch channel sounds like my old a Marshall 100W with a Super Overdrive pedal - great 80's Hard Rock sound. Boost for solos is an unexpected extra. The fact that you can jam with this amp (without loosing any sound quality) is a true bonus. The backing tracks give you hours of noodling, testing, retesting, sucking, and improving. You can record on this and it sounds good? Yes! This is my first Line 6 product. Overall rating is excellent. Very impressed.

Good recording, good modeling, bad effects.

By Austin

from Colorado

Comments about Line 6 Spider Jam 75W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

The recording features only allow you to record and playback/loop your audio. If you don't push the button right when you are supposed to after recording, your loops get botched and you have to re-record. You cannot crop or alter your audio. The amp modeling is exquisite. You can go from pure Satriani's Always with You, Always with Me to Korn, to Killswitch engage to BB King and then to Rush. The effects are ok, but you cannot control the individual parameters. Turning the effect up increases its depth, volume AND speed, which does not allow you to isolate a specific sound. The jam tracks and drum tracks are okay, but there is not enough. Yes, there is about a hundred, but you have three country, one rockabily, one jazz, one ......... there will only be one or two of each genre, which is not enough for most people.

great practice amp!

Comments about Line 6 Spider Jam 75W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

wow. i love this amp:) i love the many sounds i can get. from a heavy metallica-like sound, to Jimi Hendrix, slash, even country. this amp has a tone for anything you want to play. The jam tracks are also pretty nice, like playing with a band, minus the band.this amp can also crank pretty loud! not being in a band, i couldn't say how big of a gig it would work for, but you can sure terrify your neighbors! $400 does seem pretty steep. But if you've got it, this amp is a lot of fun and well worth it! i would recommend this amp for any guitarist. Also, to whom it does concern. the FBV express MKII pedal DOES work with this the spider jam. I had to do a ton of research to figure that out. hope that helps. :)

Comments about Line 6 Spider Jam 75W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

I normally have something detailed to say in a review, but all I can say here is wow. That and my friends keep joking I need to keep and eye on them as they may have the Jam 75 on their back as they leave my house. This is a serious amp. It can make any sound imaginable. I play a lot of Indy and 90's and this amp can handle that and much more. It can store complex sounds to your liking, or be as easy as pie with the 12 plug and play pre-sets. I was consiidering the spider 30, and thank my lucky stars I coughed up the extra $100 on the Jam 75. I have a few friends with 30's, and all lament they did not get the 75. Amp technology has come a long way in my 20 years of playing and no amp exemplifies that more than the Spider Jam 75. Best buy I've made in a long time.
