this thing is a great little 15 watt. i still havent turned it up all the way cause im afraid to blow my living room windows out. the affects work but their not very customizable. the built in tuner is confusing so i just use my own. all the presets sound pretty good and combined with my rp70 digitech effects pedal, i can get all the sounds of everything i can play. the clean always starts with echo and flange effects when you switch to it, but all you have to do is turn the effects on then off again to turn them off. its kinda heavy but not much more than a 15w should be. bottom line: you can get some decent sounds from it and a ton more with an effects pedal added. bottom, bottom line: this thing is SUPER LOUD for a 15w.

This amp is probably one of the most popular amps out there, Because its the epitome of jack of all trades master of none. It has a pretty good clean, a pretty good crunch and 2 alright distortions, So it can be used to reach a lot of sounds. But none of these sounds are good enough to warrant buying this amp for just that one single tone. The effects on this amp sound very good for built in effects, however the lack of tweaking options allows for it to fall short. The amp is very easy to setup and dial-in, however you have to readjust the knobs every time you turn it back on. Now the one thing this amp does very right is its portablity. Its light compared to many 15 watt amps, and its one of the loudest 15 watt solid state amps I have heard. So if you need and amp for you to take to many places to show your friends what you can play and be "the guy who plays his electric guitar" at parties, this amp is just what you need. Also this amp is a very good beginners amp, easy to use, loud, and can hit a lot of tones. But if you need an amp to record with, gig with, or use for serious purposes, This amp is not for you.

really cool but a lil confusing

By devin

Comments about Line 6 Spider IV 15 15W 1x8 Guitar Combo Amp:

when i first got the amp, i wanted to take it back because its really confusing at first. the amp has so much stuff in it, thats what makes it great and hard to use. when i got it the thing wouldnt get an echo sound off of it. but once u get it strat its really cool and sounds great. i say when u buy get someone from guitarcenter to set the settings first because this thing can have 4 sounds saved in at once one from each clean crutch, metal, and insane. also it has like a built in effects pedal so this amp gets 5 stars.

cool little amp

By Fred T Gruber Jr.

from Apex, North Carolina

Comments about Line 6 Spider IV 15 15W 1x8 Guitar Combo Amp:

Last year, we moved to North Carolina but have to travel back and forth to NY for business and had been caring for my father, who was ill. At night I would play the guitar to relax after a long day and decided that I needed to buy an amp. My office/bedroom/living room isn't big so I needed something small yet still had a good sound to it. I think this amp has a very good sound for the price. I don't really use the effects (I also bought a Zoom g2 effects pedal). The distortion is great and I can get just about any tone I'm looking for whether I'm playing Zep, Van Halen, Clapton or whatever. It may not sound as good as my Laney amp in NC but it does just fine for what I'm doing. Whether you are a beginner or a novice/intermediate player for 20 years like me, This amp is fine.

Great Practice Amp! Great buy!

By Marc

from United States

Comments about Line 6 Spider IV 15 15W 1x8 Guitar Combo Amp:

Most of these reviewers talk about the constant hum and the Non-stoppable flange and phaser on the "Clean" setting. Do reduce the Hum, you need to lower the "Drive" knob. To get rid of the Phaser/Flange on clean, turn on clean setting and play with the "Phaser" knob and save your setting by holding down the clean channel for 3 seconds. that is how I did it. It is a great practice amp with great settings you can choose and it is good for the price. Obviously if your playing a gig you wouldnt be using this, but for practice it is THE ONE TO BUY.

Great little amp.

Comments about Line 6 Spider IV 15 15W 1x8 Guitar Combo Amp:

A little hard at first to get used to the various settings, but has really great sound!!! Volume is way more that I could ever use at home (I only turn up maybe 1/4 inch most of the time, The increase in volume happens quickly, so a little less sensitivity at the bottom end of the volume control would be nice. All-in-all I'm very satisfied.

Best Amp I've Ever Owned!!!

By Kevin Hance

from Woodinville, Washington.

Comments about Line 6 Spider IV 15 15W 1x8 Guitar Combo Amp:

I bought this amp to replace my first amp, which broke, and when I saw the "15 Watt", I was expecting a pitiful practice amp... the price being lower then a fuzz pedal only reinforced that. After I looked at the warranty, and read the reviews, I gave it a go... WOW was I wrong! This amp is AWESOME!!! It totaly drowns out everyone in my band... AT VOLUME 5! It goes to 10! The reason it wasn't a 5-STAR is because the built in delay isn't any good (Use the Boss DD-7 Pedal instead, if you want exceptional delay), and the equalizer (Bass, Treble, Mid, and Channel Volume) don't change the sound that much. (The pickup adjuster on your guitar works fine with this one). Well, overall, I think it's a great amp WELL WORTH the price. Hope you like it; and thanks for reading my review!

Great practice or starting amp

By Shadowdragon

from St. Charles, IL

Comments about Line 6 Spider IV 15 15W 1x8 Guitar Combo Amp:

After finally deciding on my first Electric Guitar, I needed an amp. I was considering the spider 3, but I tried this amp. This amp is totally sweet! It gives you the high-gain tone you want, and the clean tone you need. It is superversatile! Not perfect: Needs a little set-up, if you don't like the effects being stuck on each model, and the if you want Chorus, you get flange too, and vice versa. Oh well. Still inexspensive and awesome!

Excellent little amp!

Comments about Line 6 Spider IV 15 15W 1x8 Guitar Combo Amp:

Amp was delivered about 3 hours ago, within 5 minutes I was able to not only figure out how to use the effects, but had also found the sound I was looking for! Amazingly good sound for such a small package, found it able to produce a decent volume at even a low level on the controls. Have hooked the output to my mixer, sound faithfully reproduced while recording. Would recommend this amp to anyone from novice to pro.

Great Practice Amp

By ExtremelyAggressive Man

from Los Angeles, California

Comments about Line 6 Spider IV 15 15W 1x8 Guitar Combo Amp:

I am suprised by this amp. This is by far the best 15 watt solid state for practicing old-skool metal or blues. I play a Jackson soloist and kv2 through the insane channel and I didn't have to tweak anything and it gave me a good sound for playing songs by Kreator Sodom or early Metallica. One word of advice tho: to play with a good set of headphones since the speaker sounds pretty lousy for playing at anything above 2. The speaker is still better than the other amp brands out there tho. This amp is very portable and I frequently take it places. I highly reccomend this amp. it is head and shoulders better than other 15 watt amps.

Excellent Amp

By Joey Tallakson

from Glendora, CA

Comments about Line 6 Spider IV 15 15W 1x8 Guitar Combo Amp:

This is basically the only amp ive owned so far, i havent been playing long but ive played others and this is by far the best in the price range, the insane setting is great distortion, and the echo is. Ive noticed other people reviewing it say things about when you put it on clean its not clean and theres flange. I think this is a factory flaw but it can be fixed. Put it on clean then turn both effects knobs all the way on then off, then this should be completely clean. Now hold the clean button down till it flashes then that saves this setting. Overall i HIGHLY recommended this amp for any beginner to intermediate players

Great Amp

By Born2Rock

from None of your buisness

Comments about Line 6 Spider IV 15 15W 1x8 Guitar Combo Amp:

I bought this amp a few weeks ago, because my old one had... err... "issues". I wanted a large-ish amp with a few effects (I don't like pedals) for a cheap price, so I got help from one of the employees, and I knew it was my soul mate. The effects are amazing, the sound quality is great, and it's a perfect size. Not as heavy as it looks. I greatly recommend this amplifier to anyone who is looking for a cheap amp with a lot of effects and a reasonble size.

a really good amp!

By Billy

from Hershey, PA

Comments about Line 6 Spider IV 15 15W 1x8 Guitar Combo Amp:

I upgraded my guitar from a Fender Squire Strat to a Gibson Les Paul Studio, with it, I also purchased this amplifier. I like it a lot, it has cool settings and effects so you don't need any pedals (but you are able to plug pedals into it) And you can even go onto the "Line 6 Spider IV 15" site online and get the exact settings to play famous songs like "American Idiot" and "Smells Like Teen Spirit." The only complaint I have is on the "clean" setting, it has a strange echo while strumming, its pretty cool, but can be annoying depending on the song you're trying to play. I recommend this amp to most guitarist! I also recommend playing this amp before buying it, just to make sure you like the unique sound and style. (For the most part it sounds like any other guitar amp, except for the "clean" setting like I mentioned.) Overall, VERY good amp!

Great amp once set up correctly.

By William

from Youngstown, OH

Comments about Line 6 Spider IV 15 15W 1x8 Guitar Combo Amp:

I bought this amp and was a little discouraged at first. Each model comes factory set and the clean model has a little echo on it which is unapealling to me. To clear things up you have to change what you want on a certain model, then hold in that model's button for 2-3 seconds and it will be set. Once i set up the thing it plays like a charm. Can produce any sound. Good for beginners on a budget. Real loud too!

no

By Danny

from providence, RI

Comments about Line 6 Spider IV 15 15W 1x8 Guitar Combo Amp:

the downfall of this amp is the distortion. it also doesnt sound that good, but its $100 so i wasnt expecting anything that amazing. but anyways when you palm mute on any gain setting, the note has this wierd bassy ring. its so difficult to describe accurately. to make it worse the higher the volume, the longer and more noticable it becomes. it is the amp, ive played my guitar on many other amps and this has NEVER happened to me. the only way to get around this is to turn the bass nob all the way down, and the mids and treble all the way up. this makes your amp sound awful, but you can at least hear the notes without that dreadful problem. it is so bad i cant use it. im never using any line 6 product again, that is how bad it is.

This lil' Spider's got a nasty bite!

By Matt

from Maryland, USA

Comments about Line 6 Spider IV 15 15W 1x8 Guitar Combo Amp:

I was at my local GuitarCenter, looking to find an highly-portable, compact guitar amplifier that i could bring around to practices without the hassle of lugging around a large, heavy guitar amplifier. I then started to pick around in the main room, testing various Marshall, Fender, Peavey, and Crate amplifiers, ranging from 10 to 30 watts, plugging in every kind of guitar you could think of in each amp...Strats, Les Pauls, PRS guitars, Schecters with EMGs, all with my Floor POD acting as the effects, pretty much the works. Then i came to the Line 6 Spider IV 15-watt amp. It wasn't really as imposing as the other amps i tested, but something told me to give it a spin, so i did. I plugged in a Fender Strat, and then i plugged in my Epiphone Les Paul Standard (Upgraded with Gibson's Ceramic pickups), and i was able to dial in several tones that sounded very similar to songs like "Crazy Train" and "Back in Black", tones that i wasn't able to nail down with the other amplifiers that i tested. After about half an hour of playing various songs through this amp, i was amazed that i was able to dial in that many tones with a 15-watt modeling amp. Now that's what i call a deal! This amplifier is a cut above the rest of those modeling amps. I highly recommend this amplifier for guitarists that are looking for something to jam around with in their bedroom or something, but if you are looking to perform onstage, this amp, despite how good it is, just won't cut it in terms of volume. If you are going to perform on stage, i recommend that you take it a step up, and go for something that's about 100 watts.

Frickin'. Awesome. Amp.

By Born2Rock

from None of Your Buissness, You don't need to know

Comments about Line 6 Spider IV 15 15W 1x8 Guitar Combo Amp:

I needed a new amp, and I wanted a reasonably big one (my old one is TINY) and one with at least one other effect besides clean and distortion (I can't afford any pedals). I needed all this, and a cheap price so I asked one of the employees. He showed me this amp, and before he showed me any more, I knew I wanted this one. I got it, and I have no regrets. The insane is, well, insane! The distortion is awesome, and the clean effects are siiick. I'd recomend this to anyone who's on a tight budget.

Pretty flippin sweet

By Christie.Guitarist

Comments about Line 6 Spider IV 15 15W 1x8 Guitar Combo Amp:

Okay, I got this amp like, yesterday. I read that you can edit the channels, and you can. That was the only thing I found that was slightly confusing but after reading the manual, I caught on pretty quickly. I also have a Spider III 75w and this Spider IV is almost as good. It's compatible with my Line 6 FBV Express Pedal, which is pretty awesome :D The only thing I find a little confusing is the built in tuner, everything else sounds great. I'd give it 5 stars if I knew how it works without using the pedal, but you'll need the Express pedal if you want to tune your axe. The insane setting already has the drive to the max level and I think it's a screamer. It sounds amazing. I love Line 6!

Sick nasty

By Eimaj

Comments about Line 6 Spider IV 15 15W 1x8 Guitar Combo Amp:

This amp has a huge variety of sounds that it can make. 2 simultaneous effects with 4 different levels of distortion. For the price, this amp is one of the best i have used. Volume goes high enough to hurt my ears even with only 15W, and holds the sound integrity. In this price range there is no other choice.
