Edit, store and share, all via computer
The Line 6 Spider IV Edit software (a free download from Line6.com) is an editor/librarian for your Spider IV 120 tones. Bask in the glow of your computer while you edit presets, create backups, and even email tones to other Spider IV players.

Smart FX
Smart FX knobs put award-winning Line 6 effects at your fingertips. Easy to use, Smart FX let you spend less time tweaking and more time playing. Quickly add or remove any amount of the 20 lush reverbs, exceptional echoes, tangy mods, and more. Make all your adjustments on the fly-all the knobs are on the front panel. Up to 4 Smart FX can be used simultaneously.

Go deeper into FX

Deep dive into your effects like never before! Every effect is fully adjustable up to 7 parameters deep, including pre- and post-amplifier routing. Sculpt your delays, mods, reverbs, pitch effects, and more with unparalleled control.

Spider FX Infusion
What's better than more effects? More effects for free! Line 6 Spider FX Infusion (a free download from Line6.com) more than doubles your amount of Smart FX. Beef up your Spider IV 120 with 28 additional overdrives, compressors, delays, reverbs, mods, and wahs. You'll have more effects than any other modeling amplifier!

Pitch effects (Smart Harmony and Pitch Glide)
Smart Harmony is Line 6's first intelligent pitch shifter. It's fast-tracking and easy to use. Harmonize using major, minor, pentatonic, whole tone, and other types of scales. (Don't worry, you don't need to know music theory to use Smart Harmony).

Pitch Glide is most effective when used with an FBV MkII foot controller. Use the foot pedal to smoothly shift your tone up or down to any interval within a four-octave range. The effect can be calibrated to semitones, or to 10-cent increments to create cool chorus/detuning effects.

Quick loop
Quick Loop is a 14-second sound-on-sound looper that's ideal for writing songs, practicing solos, jamming, and even dialing in your tone. Easy to use, Quick Loop's controls are all on the front panel. Connect an FBV MkII foot controller for handsfree control of the looper functions.

Simultaneous FX
Use up to 8 effects at the same time! Pour on the colors and textures with all 4 Smart FX, set the adjustable Boost and the Noise Gate, activate Quick Loop, and connect an FBV MkII foot controller to kick on the volume/wah pedal. How many other amplifiers can do that?

Speak up
Celestion guitar speakers are world renowned for their exceptional definition, clarity, and feel. And that's just what they give to Line 6 Spider IV guitar amp. The 2x10" Celestion custom speakers help clean tones sparkle and sing, creamy overdrives respond to the intricacies of your picking, and searing brutal tones launch themselves from the cabinet.

Manual mode
Manual mode draws a more traditional amplifier experience out of Line 6 Spider IV 120. When Manual mode is activated, all front-panel knobs work independently of one another. (Out of Manual mode, choosing an amp model may adjust the settings of the other front-panel knobs.)

Stay focused
To get the whole story of Line 6 Spider IV 120, you need to turn one around. It features a perfectly tuned three-quarter closed-back cabinet. This provides a tight, punchy, focused response that you can't get from an open-back guitar speaker cabinet.

Tune up
You'll always sound your best with the Line 6 Spider amp's built-in tuner. No need for an external tuner or additional guitar cables, this invaluable tool is integrated into the amp's front panel. Activate the tuner with the push of a button.

Window to the soul
A large, two-line LCD is your window into Line 6 Spider IV 120 amplifier. This is where you can deep dive into effects and adjust their parameters, scroll over 500 presets, see the tuner interface, name your user-created presets, get a visual representation of where your Smart FX knobs are set, and more.

Downloads and upgrades
Keep your Line 6 Spider IV 120 guitar amp up to date with an FBV MkII foot controller. Connect the Spider IV 120 to Line6.com via an FBV MkII foot controller to receiver valuable software and firmware updates and upgrades. These updates may include new features, presets, or effects.

Foot controllers
FBV Express MkII delivers handsfree channel switching; FBV Shortboard MkII is a full-on remote control. They both feature a full-sized volume/wah pedal, chromatic tuner display, bright LEDs, durable footswitches and chassis, and more. They keep you at the foot of the stage instead of tied to the front of your Line 6 Spider IV 120 guitar amp. They also feature USB connectivity for keeping your Spider IV 75 up to date. (Foot controllers not included.)

This amp is simply amazing. And it is loud. My room is downstairs and is surrounded by concrete. And i only had the volume at 2 and it rattled the walls. This amp has alot of good settings and it only takes 5 minutes depending on how well u work with amps to figure this thing out. It is very good for metal and all types of music. The effects are great and the best part is i can switch channels between songs without using a pedal and screwing things up. Overall this amp is really great. Even tho people are buying the 75 watt and the 150 watt this one is just as good if not better than both. Get this amp!

I actually don't own one of these amps, I've been playing through a Spider III 120W for about two years though. I've played these amps in stores, and I can't say the sounds have really improved much or anything. I bought by spider because I use it for gigging in my band, and since I also sing and play piano in addition to guitar, I didn't want to ever touch my amp during the show besides turning it on and putting the master right. This worked perfectly for that purpose; creating and savings sounds was easy and wonderful. It was always reliable. Truely a great solid state amplifier. However, it is now useless to me because, quite simply, tube amps put this thing to shame. The layout was perfect, and the sounds were great for a solid state amp, but I just can't use for shows anymore; it sounds too fake. It's even more noticably fake-sounding on recordings and just sounds pretty awful. Then again, this is coming from a guy who mainly uses clean sounds, very light gain sounds, and heavy sounds. No metal or anything; if that's what you're into, this amp might turn out much better for you, i don't really know. All I know is I'm selling mine.

Just flip this chromium switch...

By Michael Bozich

from Apple Valley, California

There are other amps, like the Peavy Bandit 112, the Fender Mustang III and even Orange Amps offers a modeler. For two hundred more you can get a all tube Peavy screamer. But what this amp excels at is emulating all of those. The Spider IV has a line out for DAW work on the computer, but no studio direct line, so you can't play the amp and play through a PA, you have to pick one. The amp will interface with a computer if you buy the FV MK2 shortboard, at a price of 99 bucks. The new firmware for the amp boosts its effects and tweaks the sound slightly. You will have to, for example, recreate or tweak some of your presets if you go from a stock amp without a shortboard, to an upgraded amp with a shortboard. What else? The 120 is loud, sounds good on low volume but will get up there. I imagine the 150 is nicer if you plan to gig, but I've heard it doesn't sound as good on low volume. If you play mostly low volume stuff go with the 75, as I've heard it sounds best. That's it, the amp is a great metal screamer stock, but will imitate any sound you can dial in. It has harshness, as it is digital, but I'd hardly go freaking nuts and say it sounds like a hell's-chorus of otamatones. It sounds nice, and for recording and experimenting with different styles and tones, it's a great pick.

Spider 4 days

By Dan Armstrong

from Roswell, GA

I bought this guitar off of guitar center last spring after saving up for some time and obtaining a $100 guitar center gift card for my birthday. I kept pulling a Calvin and asking every day after school if it had arrived in the mail yet. When it finally did the first 2 things I realized about it was that it was big and heavy. And this is just me looking at it on my porch. I manage to slide it down the steps to my basement and it hasn't moved from that room since. I open it up and see a manual that has some suggestions but really, find your own tones. Personally i liked green dot on clean, crunch, and high gain, but you just have to find whatever works best. It comes with what seems like endless presets and I ask myself if I had to pay extra for these. I play a fender strat through this amp and it sounds very quality but it takes some time to be able to find the sound you're looking for. It's overall a very good electric amp but i think next time I'll try a vox or fender because i was slightly dissapointed with the tone but that might be my guitar. Nevertheless, i still enjoy playing on this beauty everyday and having fun at it. IT has

beeeeaaaast, if you don't like pedals

By Chuck Hughes

from Spokanistan

Awesome amp. lots and lots of possibilities with and the effects. pretty good quality sound with a good guitar, it might take some work though, getting all the tone and boost settings right, but other than that its an excellent amp if you don't want to use pedals. only pedal it will take without freaking out on you is a simple Wah, i haven't tried volume, but everything else takes the sound quality down to "tin can". don't use pedals.

Amazing with the footswitch.

By Jake Carr

from Summerville SC

i got this amp about a month and a half ago, and i loved everything except the distortion, it was lacking gain, even on insane green. but i just bought the FBV Express MKII footswitch, and used the FX Infusion. i downloaded a tube screamer to boost my distortion and the sound is incredible, reminiscent of an ENGL amp. need i say more? 5 stars.

Rockin Amp!

By Aaron

from Tacoma, WA

This amp rocks. I got it for Christmas. I used to have a small 50watt practice amp with a multi-effect peddle plugged into it. I have not even touched that stuff since I got this amp! Clean tones rock! but when Im ready to turn up the noise and distortion, this thing is born ready. It does not like to played at low volumes. The distortion comes out very fuzzy and kind of dull. I wish the distortion, even when turned up to volume for a gig, was a little more crisp. It will match the sound of a band like Five Finger Death Punch easy. But Id prefer a sound more along the lines of Metallica or Pantera. Which this amp, dont get me wrong I love it, does not get that sound out perfectly. Gets real close but not quite all the way. I love the amp and would definitely recommend it to ANYBODY playing any style of music. It gives great blues, country, jazz, classic rock, rock, metal and whatever sound you can think of. This amp kicks you in the face and it is one of the best amps out there.

Great Amp

By Riechard

from Saginaw, MI

I went into guitar center to buy some picks, and I had some spare time so I asked if I could play the Gibson Explorer that was in stock. I ended up at this amp, and I absolutely loved the 'Insane' tone, but I'm used to a 20W amp, so I wasn't completely aware of how loud it can get, or how sensitive the volume knob was. I accidentaly blasted through the whole store, (which was incredibly embarrasing) and temporarily lost hearing in my right ear. The moral of the story: Dont practice with a 120W amp, use those for gigs.
