Overview

The Line 6 Spider III 30 delivers 4 amp models”clean, crunch, metal, and insane”that cover a broad range of essential rock sounds. These basic sounds can then be modified with a selection of effects. Now you can rule the stage with the Insane model with its truly massive gain or explore your sensitive side in the studio with the Clean model. The Spider III will give you the dialed-in tone you want in an instant. Less tweaking. More playing.

Amp Models:
Clean: Red LED - Select this amp model and adjust the tone controls to get crisp, amazing clean tones, great warm jazz tones, and all the high-end shimmer you'll need with a generous amount of bottom end.

Crunch: Red LED - This sound was crafted during Line 6's studies* of the '68 Marshall Plexi 50 Watt. This type of Marshall amp was used by a number of early metal bands. Crunch provides a wider range of tone control settings than the original Marshall amp had.

Metal: Red LED - This Amp Model is based on* the Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier. Use this Amp Model to get a tight and punchy, high gain Metal sound.

Insane: Red LED - This model is Line 6's "dialed in for shredding" version based on* the Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier red channel. It combines the intensity and impact of Metal Red, but delivers more midrange and teeth for that bone-crushing, brain piercing insane grind.

Effects:
A great amp isn't the only part of a great guitar sound. With Smart Control FX, an exclusive Line 6 feature that automatically dials in different effect parameters, you spend more time playing and less time tweaking. Simply find the effect that you want, turn the knob to your desired intensity, and you're done. You can even use multiple effects at the same if you wanna get really crazy.

Effects Models (Up to 2 effects simultaneous)
Phaser
Chorus/Flanger
Tremolo
Sweep Echo
Tape Echo
Reverb

Ins & Outs

You can also use the same out with headphones for practicing in your bedroom. Want to play along with your favorite songs? Plug into the CD/MP3 input and you're good to go.

This is a great amp. It's loud, high quality sound, and has plenty of effects. Features - Great effects that work well with my Fender Strat. It can make great blues tones and it has great pre-set channels. The insane and metal channels are a little too much distortion for my personal taste, but with the drive adjustment you can tone them down to sound great. Only feature complaint is that I have heard that you can re-program the four channels, but the manual says nothing about it (or at least doesn't make it clear.) Quality - Great sound. I am a beginner, therefore I do not play in any concerts or small gigs so I wouldn't know about how it works live, but this is a great amp for practice. Plenty lound enough to get the house shaking. Value - One of the best amps in the price range. I've done a lot of research and this amp was one of the best options for the price. Overall - A great practice amp that gives you a wide variety of sounds that will be great for any style of music that you want to play. 100% recommended by me.

This is an good amp for practicing and jamming. Yet as you play it more and more and you are seeking more and more tone from your amp, this amp doesn't deliver. I have found it impossible to get a warm, deep tone from this amp. I feel the sound of the amp is rather superficial. It is a good amp for jamming with friends, and it is good for a non-tube amp, but if you want more out of an amp, this is not the one for you.

Amazing!

By Kevin

from Texas

I just got this amp as a Christmas gift...and I must say, I'll never need another amp for at least another 5 years! The sound is great, the reverb kicks (plus it's got chorus flange, phaser, tremblo, sweep echo, and tape echo). The 4 settings (Clean, Crunch, Metal, and Insane) are perfect for anyone who plays. The overdrive kicks aswell! The 12" speakers are insane for small gigs (comparing to the Marshall 30 watt which only has 10" speakers).

As a side note...

By LHOswald

from Enfield Connecticut

For the people who seem to have a problem with different effects being on while turning to a different channel, its because you can save different effects and tones to different channels. Alls you need to do is set the tone you want for that specific channel (effects on or off as well) and then press and hold the channel button itself for a few seconds until it blinks twice. Then the tone is saved and you wont have that problem of your amp buzzing, or having the Tape Echo on when you turn it onto a certain channel.

Versatile Little Amp

By Josh

from El Cerrito

I was all set to buy the little Marshall with the digital effects but decided to try out a Line6. I decided on the Line6 because it could do everything the Marshall could do, plus more. I really like the tape delay function and use that and the chorus almost all the time. The effects are also really fun to play around with so if you don't have a lot of money and want to play with a bunch of effects, this would be your amp. I really like all the different tones you can get out of this amp. You can crank up the gain on the clean channel and get a really nice fender sound. The distortion channels are really sweet! You can crank them up, add a little chorus and delay and you sound like an instant rock star. I also like the fact that this amp sounds good through the headphones because I play a lot late at night after my kids go to sleep. Build quality is excellent: I got the floor model that had been thoroughly pawed and it still works and looks great. BTW, I got it because GC completely sold out of the 30! Also, getting the Celestion speaker on the 30 is well worth the couple extra dollars over the smaller Line6's. The one drawback which is obvious is the size. You can crank it up quite loud and annoy the neighbors, but there is tons of feedback with my Epi LP that I find annoying. But overall, for a practice amp, it is an excellent value and a joy to play.

Basement shaker

By Chuck

from Temple Ga

I,m a married father of two,I spend most my time driving back and forth to work. But when I can I have some old buddies over for a jam. When I first bought this amp It was with the intention of jamming in the bedroom maybee with some headphones. Everthing I try in the store seems to sound good there, then ok at home. This amp here shakes the basement, It's loud enough for drums. The clean channel does crack a little over half way but if your looking for something to make some noise in the 200.00 price range this is it. Add a fbv express pedal and you get great control with a surprisingly responsive wah pedal. If your used to a morley, crybaby, vox, whatever, it will take some getting used to but for a combined price of just over 300.00, its the best 300.00 I've spent on music in 15 years!

Good little amp with big sound

By Arrival59

from Ohio

I just bought this and being a progessive rock guitarist and also playing for a total of 40 years this little amp has some big sounds.I have seen just a few bad things written about it but if you read the manual to get your own presets and tweak the treble mid and bass while tweaking you'll find the sound your looking for more than likely.I'm not crazy about the reverb(wish it was better) but it isn't bad.But in this price range and to sit at home and play this little monster rocks. Some try to compare it to the Vox Valvetronix Amps.Don't do this.Try both out and see which amp fits your playing style's better for they are both good. But i have to give the tonality to Vox and easier presetting for live or even studio performance. But you need the footswitch(which is proprietary to their line only)to change your settings. Also tried the 15 watter,it's good and loud for an 8" speaker. But the tone is helped out in the 30 watter by the 12" Celestion.Overall it's a good amp for the price.

Mad Awesome

By JayRock6706

I Played this amp in the store with an epiphone les paul and the sound and quality was mint and so are the effects on it. I played on mostly metal but the insane was good too.

Great for everything

By Mike Conte

from Norwalk, CT

I was looking at the Spider III for $200 in the store but they had a Spider II on sale for $140 so I went for it. It has the exact same power and features in addition to looking the exact same so I'm not sure what's up with the price difference. I love this amp though it has a bunch of fun effects and can deliver good power. Also fun to use as a speaker for a party with the mp3 input port.

Pretty Good

By colbythedude

from Miami

This amp is AWESOME for the price range! It has a good quality sound, but as stated previously, it does sound quite digital. I own a Dean MLX with this amp, and it has awesome metal tone on insane. The only complaint I have about it is when i turn it on after previously have used it, the volume gets turned up way higher when i touch no knobs, therefore almost blowing up. I had it set at a not so high volume, turned it off, but when I turned it on it shreiked high enough to make someone deaf. It is a MAJOR turnoff, but you could probably get used to it. I have only owned it for 2 days anyway. Its great price though, it should be worth at least $250.

Pretty Good Amp

By Jordan

from Wayne, New Jersey

I got this amp with a Yamaha Pacifica after playing acoustic for about a year and at first, knocked my socks off with the insane setting. The metal distortion could be better, but for the price its great. The clean isnt wonderful, but gets the job done. It repuires a bit of patience because whenever you switch to clean, the tape echo goes on, even though you don't have it turned on. You can turn it off by simply turning it off with the knob. Overall, its pretty good for practice, but i wouldnt reccommend it for live performance or anything else.

Very chunky

By Bart

from canadian, ok

I love this amp for the price. Of course I play a lot of metal, punk, drop d type stuff and this amp sounds great for that. Effects are great. Owners manual is a little vague and not very comprehensive but you can find all kind of amp tricks and set ups online.

LINE 6 Spider III 30 Watt Combo Amp

By Dissonance

from Fairfield, CT

before I bought this amp, I was actually looking at a Marshall MG 30, which i liked, but I saw this thing and tried it out. I was totally shocked. I play an acoustic electric, so it's hard to get a good electric and acoustic sound out of one amp. This gave me both. The presets that come with it are great, but I made my own and overrode them. I can get any sound I want out of this thing. My favorite feature may be the Noise Gate (The manual explains how to use it.) Using the Noise gate i can get ridiculous drive out of my guitar, but getting an articulate sound out of every note.

Decent.....

By Nickyb567

from New Jersey

I bought this amp about a year ago and it sounds decent. If you're looking for an amp with everything you want at the turn of knob or push of a button its here. Although most of the channels sound good metal sound horrible. If you're like me and want some sexternal effects and pedals get a something different. Goof for beginners but not much else.

Perfection.

By Zac

from Queen Creek

The Spider II was alright, but the Spider III is INSANE! The channels are perfect for changing parts in a song. Maybe you want a Clean sound with a bit of tremelo. Save it and use that later in the song. Maybe you want an insane metal sound with some chorus flange and phasers. 3 different sounds at once! THIS IS THE BEST AMP I'VE EVER USED IN MY LIFE!

This is a sweet amp for those of you who live with kids or in my case in the barracks. You have to tweak the amp a little bit to get the sound that suits your style but once you get it this baby screams. I play this amp with a Les Paul and a Dimebag wah pedal and I am addicted. BUY THIS AMP. Semper Fi

Great Amp

By WickfromSC

from Conway,SC

If you are looking for a Jammin/Practice Amp this is the amp for you. It has more than enough power to get over drums when Jammin. The effects are excellent. I can dial in any sound I want for Lead or Rythum. I did a lot of reseach before buying and I couldn't find a amp that came close to the Spider for the price.
