GREAT PRACTICE AMP!

By Daehlatem

from Lehigh Acres Fl

Comments about Line 6 Spider II 15 Combo Amp:

I recently bought the Spider II amp for practice. I needed something that has great tone and distortion since Im used to playing through the Crate 350watt head and the GT415SL Crate cad. You can't really use that amp to practice with since its so loud. This 15 watt amp delievers just what I needed to practice and still have the sound I want. The Insane mode on this amp is great and the effects are awesome. Use the reverb and get some killer sound for the perfect solo tone, or use any other the other great effects and come up with great riffs. I recommend this amp to anyone who needs a small amp to practice your chops and still get a great sound/tone without having spend a lot of money.

Line 6 Spider 15

By RARic01

from Buffalo, NY

Comments about Line 6 Spider II 15 Combo Amp:

The Line 6 Spider II 15 is a versatile digital modeling amp that delivers a surprisingly wide range of tones that can?t be beat at this price point! It is great for home practice and direct recording at bedroom volume levels, but is also powerful enough to use in band rehearsals. The four unique amp models include: ? Clean ? Based on a combination of a the crisp, clear top of a Roland JC-120 Jazz/Chorus como paired with the deep, rich bottom of a Marshall JTM 45 stack ? Crunch ? Based on a Marshall Super Lead Plexi, with input voltage reduced via Variac and the lead and rhythm channels jumped, resulting in increased gain and tonal response ? Metal ? Based on a Mesa Dual Rectifier, enhanced for modern Metal ? Insane ? Like taking the output of a cranked Dual Rectifier into the front of a distorted Soldano SLO100. Additional features include: ? Two Smart Control FX knobs, one for Flanger, Chorus, Phaser, and Tremolo and another for Sweep Echo, Tape Echo, and Reverb. One effect from each controller can be activated at a time, for up two FX available at once ? Four fully independent user-programmable patches ? Effects parameters controllable via Tap Tempo ? CD/MP3 input jack for playing along with your favorite recordings ? Headphone/Direct Out for practice or recording ? Distortion boost ? noise gate ? 8? Speaker The Clean model produces a highly usable clean sound for Jazz, Pop and Rock, though it could use a bit more ?sparkle?. With the Drive maxed and the distortion boost engaged, it also does a nice overdriven blues sound. Crunch covers Blues, classic rock/hard rock, and EVH?s ?Brown? sound. Metal covers classic and modern Metal, while Insane takes it even one step further. Bash an open A power chord and it will ring out for days! The Spider 15?s single 8? speaker gives the impression of being much ?bigger? than it really is, with plenty of low end ?thunk?. The smart FX controller is an ingenious method for controlling effects parameters for any two of the six effects at once via two knobs, but does so with less flexibility and control over effects parameters than where dedicated controls are available for each effect.

Above average

By rachitron

from Tampa, FL

Comments about Line 6 Spider II 15 Combo Amp:

I bought my Spider Line 6 15w as a practice amp 2 years ago. At first, I was impressed with all of the functions right out of the box. There are so many chanels and settings that you can play with, but none of them are perfect. I find "crunch" useless, and I only play on "isane" and "clean." The ability to plug a cd or mp3 player in and play along with your favorite songs or record on the spot is a plus. I would recommend this as only a practice amp, and nothing more.

Effects in a box!

By Lacey

from IN

Comments about Line 6 Spider II 15 Combo Amp:

If you like messing with effects, you will probably like this amp. It's got chorus flange, tremolo, echo, and a few more. It also has 4 channels to choose from. I like the fact that I don't need to buy any effects pedals, just plug in and play. You can even create your own presets. It's got a bunch more stuff on it, but you should just play on one to see for yourself. I can't really think of anything I don't like about this amp.

The clean channel on the ...

By LeDzEpPeLiNrOx67

from Albany, New York

Comments about Line 6 Spider II 15 Combo Amp:

The clean channel on the Line 6 spyder II is the best channel on this amp. It is very clear and rich, as long as you turn the bass down, or else it will over power the highs. The crunch channel is alright but the tone is very shallow and flat. The reverb must be maxed out to get any depth to the notes, but it sounds ok for zeppelin tones. The metal and insane channels are just bad. I dont even bother trying to get a good sound with them because its not going to happen.

Stupendous Amp for the Money

By Gus Manchu

from Dartmouth, MA

Comments about Line 6 Spider II 15 Combo Amp:

Bought this amp in store after an impressive demonstration of it's features. Ease of use for tuning of 4 different is great. Tone is very nice for this price point. Each setting sounds good. Clean is very crisp and comes with a good echo. Crunch is very "Led Zeppelin". The metal setting is classic metal and the insane setting captures the sound of greats like Satriani and Vai. Great amp.
