Overview

The Line 6 Relay G50 Digital Wireless System provides a pure signal with a clarity that rivals that of the highest-quality guitar cables. Guitars get a beautiful high-end sparkle and basses get a thunderous low-end punch, even at distances of up to 200 feet. Traditional wireless systems compromise the sound of your instrument by rolling-off crucial high- and low-end frequencies and compressing their signals. This system on the other hand, offers superior sound with full bandwidth and zero compression.

Professional Dependability
Broadcasting over the 2.4GHz band keeps the Line 6 Relay G50's signal free from many kinds of interference. Traditional wireless guitar systems are susceptible to dropouts, static, and many other kinds of interference. Broadcasting over congested UHF bands, their signals may be affected by interference generated as far away as 100 miles or more. For added security, the Relay G50 employs exclusive signal protection technology, simultaneously broadcasting encrypted data streams to multiple antennas.

Refreshing Simplicity
The Relay G50 is a low-profile wireless system that's easy to use. The lightweight transmitter remains out of the way of your performance and its LCD displays channel number and battery life. The rugged metal receiver offers bright and easy-to-read LEDs that display power, status, and battery life. Its dual 1/4" outputs make it an easy addition to your pedal board.

Attached to Your Guitar Cable?
For players attached to cables, adopting a wireless system introduces many questions: What will it feel like? Will it change my sound? The Line 6 Relay G50 sounds just like a cable, but it also sounds just like your cable. It features EQ settings that match the frequency responses of typical guitar cables. Different players use different cables, but all players can use Relay G50.

The Wireless Revolution
Relay G50 is proudly ushering in a better-sounding and more dependable era of wireless guitar systems. It will inspire you to explore new areas of your music and the stage.

The wireless guitar system comes complete with transmitter, receiver and all necessary accessories including locking cable, power supply, and batteries.

Consumer Alert:

Most users do not need a license to operate this wireless microphone system. Nevertheless, operating this microphone system without a license is subject to certain restrictions: the system may not cause harmful interference; it must operate at a low power level (not in excess of 50 milliwatts); and it has no protection from interference received from any other device. Purchasers should also be aware that the FCC is currently evaluating use of wireless microphone systems, and these rules are subject to change. For more information, call the FCC at 1-888-CALL-FCC (TTY: 1-888-TELL-FCC) or visit the FCCs wireless microphone website at: www.fcc.gov/cgb/wirelessmicrophones.

In One word - This thing is AWESOME!! The quality of sound is not compromised at all,in fact I think my rig sounds better after experimenting with the cable simulation - you can't tell it's wireless. It's built like a tank and couldn't be easier to set up and use. I've been as much as 300 feet away in a hostile RF environment and it didn't even blink. A superior product from Line6 !! For the $$ You can't go wrong with this one.

I've bought two Relay G50's and as nice as they sound I've found that the collar that holds the wire into the transmitter will eventually crack and break since its made of plastic. This unit could be spectacular if it wasn't for this fatal flaw in the design. Also the clip that holds the transmitter unto the guitar strap could hold better. Having said that it's by far my favorite sounding wireless unit for the money. It doesn't change the tone of the guitar or if it does itۡs very little. I've never had a problem with outside noise bleeding in. I also love the compact design. I wish I could get a hold of the designers of the Relay G50 transmitter. This is a problem that could be fixed very easily. Unfortunately, in my opinion, this problem is a deal breaker for any potential purchases that I will make of another Line 6 wireless system in the future.

Comments about Line 6 Relay G50 Digital Wireless Guitar System:

Product is great buy. This was the first wireless system I've bought so I don't have a lot to compare to. But this thing gets no complaints from me. Sound is just as if I had a cord. Also very durable and very easy to use. Just turn it on and plug it in. I play bass and I didn't lose any low end with this system. The battery's did last the 8 hours just wish it was more! Overall a great product!

Comments about Line 6 Relay G50 Digital Wireless Guitar System:

This unit sounds really good now. When I first tried to use it, evidently the factory setting on the transmitter is RF2. I was getting dropouts and bad reception until I read a few blogs regarding the factory setting of the transmitter. Once I changed the setting to RF1, I got the sound and reception that I was looking for. I have played three gigs now with the transmitter working properly and the whole unit sounds really good.

Comments about Line 6 Relay G50 Digital Wireless Guitar System:

Ive used this wireless system while playing in a Contemporary Rock Worship Band. I will admit that I was concerned of "letting go of the cord" thinking I would loose Bottom End. I don't worry about that any longer! Another concern that I had is that every band member is on wireless systems and the 150 people that are in the house carry cell-smart phones and I haven't lost signal one time. I set the Cord Feature on half and I cannot tell the difference in this unit compared to a cord. The ONLY con, and it may not be a con as I don't stare at the battery indicator, is when the battery's fail there isn't any warning. But again, I cant and don't want to stare at the battery indicator while playing. With that said, this Wireless System hasn't failed me yet and I don't expect it to!

8 out of 10 times, I get red lights on reciever. Doesn't work. I've switched the transmitter function back and forth from F2 to F1, still nothing.

        Great Wirless Product

        By RICKY

        from New Baden, IL

Comments about Line 6 Relay G50 Digital Wireless Guitar System:

This is a great wireless system. The bandwidth is very reliable. When I say reliable, understand that I make sure I don't have any competing 2.4 ghz wireless products in close proximity, and if there are, I try to use a channel far from the competing wireless device or devices. I almost purchased the G30. Thank God I didn't. My friend's G30 cuts out for a quick nano second from time to time. The G50 comes with two exterior antennas. That little extra makes the difference in performances. I haven't dropped yet, even with my friend's G30 receiver 15 feet from me. You will get close to 8 - 10 hours of battery life. I would suggest using lithium AA batteries, this may prolong your play by a couple of hours. That is why I love the battery and signal display on the receiver. If it's hard to see the labeling (most likely it will be hard to see), just remember that the battery display is on the bottom. The tone quality is outstanding. I read a customer's review about sustain problems. I haven't experience any sustain issues. I can hold notes on my bass, as if it was going through a quality wired system. All in all, it is a great wireless product.

        Untethered Atlast

        By John

        from Endicott NY

Comments about Line 6 Relay G50 Digital Wireless Guitar System:

I have been thinking of purchasing a wireless unit for some time. Read a lot of reviews and poled my fellow gigging musicians. I work 6-8 gigs each month and wanted a solid performer. When the Line6 G50 went on sale this fall, I pulled the trigger. This unit is made of steel. After 10 gigs I am thoroughly satisfied. Sound quality is excellent. The batteries (2 AA's) last 2 gigs.

Not a Bad Product, 2.4ghz systems are better

        By SAMANTHA

        from Riverside,Ca.

Comments about Line 6 Relay G50 Digital Wireless Guitar System:

well for most part not a Bad "Product" now "ANY 2.4ghz System(also called Digital) are better than the UHF and VHF so not a bad idea to check the newer systems out...even ones with "Limited Range" now, for "Ours" my son Purchased one of these and a "Pretty good Product" the Cases are "Metal" and feel solid for those that "Care" the Bodypack(transmitter) doesn't have the "Screw in type" cords many have or HAD problems with, and there EASY to set up! the Receiver is also Stout, had a good feel and Indicators you can see when Knowing what to look for,but in General you shoudnt "Need To" but in case you do? easy to "Distinguish" another plus if a "External" tunner say needs to be used? can plug to its Aux out made for this, Range good! unless you "Van Halen it" and have a Bigger Stage? then you wouldn't be Buying a $288.00 system? and Interference almost Nill considering it is on the 2.4ghz band...unless you get some kind of EMP Pulse!! now the kinda Odd but not really Bad? "TONE" now this one is my "Son's" in my BAND we use Sure Systems, I "Personally Use" a Sure GLXD-16 system my only thing was the "CABLE TONE" now I would "Imagine" if this is something you really needed? then I suppose so? HOWEVER, for "US" we could hear a "Difference" in TONE the "Cable TONE" adjustment is just like if one was to "Roll the Trebble DOWN" if you need to "Muffle" your sound this is a Viable Option however "Adjusting your TREBBLE does the Same thing, and I play ROCK/Metal so my son plays more just "Rock and Rollish" 70's type so sounds GREAT !!! for me you cant "HEAR" the "CRACK or CHIRP" you would hear with a "Cable" even with cable tone OFF, think old school RATT or "Scropions BLACKOUT" the "Snap" you would hear when the "Pick hits those Strings!" if your into Smashing pumpkins,greenday,smashmouth,Foo-Foo-stuff,things like that or into 7-string "Fart-Tone" these are Great!!! newer wireless has great Definition great range! better than UHF and VHF systems even Inexpensive ones. but between the Sure GLXD-16 which doesn't need a "Cable Tone" control? but the Sure systems are more! and for there new price on the Line6 G50 not a bad deal!! if starting out or "Intermediate Musician" a sound buy, and Battery Life is GOOD! and have Options for a High and LO battery Consumption setting on the Transmitter, shure system has "Rechargeable Lithium type battery" and "Tunner Built in" now one thing I like to NOTE, we did use a 6foot Mogami Insturment cable, not sure if many would "Spend this" on cables? but we did notice a Difference in those compared to the $14.00 cables to use for "Patch cords" but even in "Studio" I use Evidence Audio Cables, Equipment used Marshal JVM 410H(Blacktube) and ENGL Special Editions in 1988' Marshall 1960A cabs with "GreenBacks" Now with a "Cheap 14.00-40.00 guitar cords we could not hear "Too Much Difference" with MOGAMI cord was "Noticeable between GLXD and G50" GLXD "Sounded Better" so if getting up there might want to check out Sure GLXD16 or GLX-D systems, for Mid range the Line6 is a Good Product! check it out.

Comments about Line 6 Relay G50 Digital Wireless Guitar System:

This this works great! Doesn't color the sound much if at all and Im very happy that it takes "AA" batteries instead of 9 volt. Will be purchasing another one so I can use a different one with each guitar (i.e. Acoustic, electric or bass) as I switch guitars quickly on stage and have different levels set for each one.

        G50 is a great product

        By Alan

        from Mebane, NC

Comments about Line 6 Relay G50 Digital Wireless Guitar System:

I have tried several wireless systems. The G50, unlike most of the others, sounded like my cable. It was the only system to truly sound like my wired rig. It's fairly affordable, very portable, and does a super job. Sound quality is as good as I could have hoped for. Now I have to master the urge to leave the stage ... Believe it or not, my band is thrilled!

        Solid Piece of Equipment

        By Craig

        from Lancaster PA

Comments about Line 6 Relay G50 Digital Wireless Guitar System:

I've been looking at wireless systems for awhile and finally made the move - definitely glad I did. I narrowed my search down to the Shure GLX-D or the Line 6 G50. Both systems were extremely clear with no tonal loss. I guess the tone loss came with the older systems but certainly none with either of theses systems. I ended up going with the Line 6 because it was a few dollars less expensive so essentially I was paying for a pedal board tuner I didn't need because I already have one. To make this review a bit easier I'll list some PROs and CONs with regards to the Line 6 PROs - Solid hardware all around - Extremely clear signal - Ease of use and set up - Has a feature where you can select cord lengths to simulate resistance. Frankly all it does is rolls of the tone a bit which you could do with the tone knob on your guitar but hey - thought I's mention it. - Cost, it is the priced the best of wireless systems with the same features. Like I mentioned if you aren't in need of a pedal board tuner you may want to save the $$s. CONs - Batteries, Not sure if this is a pro or con yet. The Shure system has a rechargeable battery system where the Line 6 has Double AAs. This means another battery sucker on in the line up. However, I have had other systems with rechargeable batteries and when they wore in a bit the life span dropped off and you were kind of stuck with it. So it can go either way depending on how you look at it. - Battery Life, Still experimenting with this one but when they claim 8+hours I believe this assumes you are just turning it on and letting it sit there. Mine went from +4 hours down to +:25 minutes pretty quick when I was actually playing. I'm going to do some more work around how much functional time I get out of a set of batteries but I maybe something to keep in mind if you are moving to any wireless system. - Tech Support. I have several Shure products (mics etc) and can tell you their tech support it top notch. I have not had to exercise the tech support for the wireless G50 but I do have a Line 6 HD400 and if the support is anything like that it will not get good marks. Essentially Line 6 tech support is other users who hopefully have had the same problem and will share with you how they got around it. Their customer blog is the main tech support. - Transmitter clip for belt or guitar strap. I put mine on my belt because I can switch between guitars easily. The clip on the G50 is a monster. Guess it is also a PRO cause it isn't coming off once you get it on but if you need to switch out quickly you may have some struggles. Not a big deal but thought I's mention it. There are after market holder you can get that I am looking into. Will leave it at this for now - hope this helps you in your search!
