Overview

Line 6's Relay G30 redefines the wireless experience for guitarists and bassists with superior sound, professional dependability, and refreshing simplicity.

The Relay G30 Digital Wireless Mic System provides a pure signal so guitars get a beautiful high-end sparkle and basses get a thunderous low-end punch, even at distances of up to 30 meters (98 ft. approx). The signal's clarity rivals that of the highest-quality guitar cables. Traditional wireless systems compromise their sound by rolling-off crucial high- and low-end frequencies and compressing their signals. Relay G30 offers superior sound with full bandwidth and zero compression.

Professional Dependability
The Relay G30 broadcasts its robust signal over the 2.4GHz band. This keeps the signal free from many kinds of interference. For added security, the system employs exclusive signal protection technology: it broadcasts an encrypted data stream on six channels simultaneously. Traditional wireless instrument systems, on the other hand, are susceptible to dropouts, static, and many other kinds of interference. Broadcasting over congested UHF bands, their signals may be affected by interference generated as far away as 100 miles, or more.

Refreshing Simplicity
The lightweight transmitter of the Line 6 Relay G30 remains out of the way of your performance, and the rugged receiver can sit on top of your amp or be added to your pedal board. The receiver offers bright and easy-to-read LEDs that display power, status, and battery life. Its standard 1/4" inputs and outputs deliver real convenience.

The mic system comes complete with transmitter, receiver, and all necessary accessories including cable, power supply, and batteries.

Attached to Your Guitar Cable?
For players attached to cables, adopting a wireless system introduces many questions: What will it feel like? Will it change my sound? Relay G30 sounds just like a cable, but it also sounds just like your cable. It features two EQ settings that match the frequency responses of typical guitar cables. Different players use different cables, but all players can use Line 6 Relay G30.

The Wireless Mic Revolution
Relay G30 is proudly ushering in a better-sounding and more dependable era of wireless guitar systems. It will inspire you to explore new areas of your music and the stage.

Consumer Alert:

Most users do not need a license to operate this wireless microphone system. Nevertheless, operating this microphone system without a license is subject to certain restrictions: the system may not cause harmful interference; it must operate at a low power level (not in excess of 50 milliwatts); and it has no protection from interference received from any other device. Purchasers should also be aware that the FCC is currently evaluating use of wireless microphone systems, and these rules are subject to change. For more information, call the FCC at 1-888-CALL-FCC (TTY: 1-888-TELL-FCC) or visit the FCCs wireless microphone website at: www.fcc.gov/cgb/wirelessmicrophones.

The Line 6 G30 suprised me! I have heard good reviews about their X2 wireless systems and decided to try out the new Relay wireless systems. I got this product yesterday and was messing around with it all day. I was trying my hardest to get interference and dropouts, but i couldn't. I ran up and down the stairs, outside, and even to my neighbors house...nothing. 100 ft is plenty of room for you to move around and chances are that your not going to be on a stage that's over that lengh. This is a product that you definately have to check out if you want to go wireless on a budget. Line 6 has done it again!

The wireless on the product is great. It really sounds amazing. The problem comes with the G30 transmitter that hooks to your guitar. The clip that straps to your guitar strap is held on by two very poorly designed plastic feet. On two G30 transmitters, one of the feet has broken off making the unit to where it won't strap onto the guitar strap. This makes having a wireless unit almost useless.

Both feet could not be glued back on. The only solution was to buy another G30 transmitter, but they are too expensive. I really recommend looking at another product because if you buy this one, you will most likely be replacing the transmitter unit due to poor design.

Exceeded expectations.

Comments about Line 6 Relay G30 Digital Wireless Guitar System:

This is an awesome wireless system. Now, I know the range of it is said to be 100ft, but i was about 130ft away from the system, and i was still getting a clear tone. Granted, i was in an open field, so there weren't any walls or barriers between the amp and I. I recommend you go out and buy one. It really is worth every penny.

Freedom alas!

Comments about Line 6 Relay G30 Digital Wireless Guitar System:

I was really hesitant on buying this product. I was trying to decide if I should save up the extra $100 more to buy the G50 instead of the G30. I ended up going into a local music store and seeing it, and I ended up buying the G30. I am glad I did, there is no need to buy the G50. This "Plastic" is tougher than you think. It has a rubber casing on the sides of the reciever and the transmitter for grip, and the plastic is rather tough. The reciever is small and flat so it fits well in my BCB-60. The transmitter is pretty small and fits perfect on my back pocket. I was quite surpised about the tone this gives. I have always used the high end monster cables, but this actually blows them out of the water. I have a deeper tone now, and the thing that surpised me most, I HAVE NO MORE HUM! It is like a noise gate built in! This is the best $300 I have ever spent on my bass set up. I tuned my low e down to a low G and i still got a signal, so you people that play in heavy tunings, don't worry, this will pick up every note.

Great Wireless

By TJ

Comments about Line 6 Relay G30 Digital Wireless Guitar System:

I have not played out yet with the G30, but at home I had the receiver in the basement and I went out side and with out messing with the channel I was able to go 40 feet away. The tone is as good as everybody says. I can't wait to play out with it. The only thing that worries me a bit is that the housings are plastic and it feels less then the quality that I think it is. Only time will tell. Don't let it stop you from your purchase though.

Does exactly what it claims!

By John

Comments about Line 6 Relay G30 Digital Wireless Guitar System:

I have not been been moved to write a product review on any web site until now. Having had several negative experiences with other wireless consumer items such as headphones and in-car stereo transmitters, I felt sure I would be returning this the same day I bought it. It seemed too good to be true that it would actually work as advertised. To my complete and utter amazement, the darn thing works. And it doesn't just work half the time or most of the time or with caveats- it works all the time and works perfectly. No fading, hissing or any defects whatsoever in the output from my amp using this device. I'm just a hobbyist playing in the confines of my home so I can't comment on range or on whether it plays well with other wireless devices in a band setting. Reviews elsewhere compare it's plastic housing unfavorably with the metal housing of it's bigger cousin, the G90, but it's well made and looks pretty tough to me. I specifically picked this over the more expensive G90 because the G30 uses a standard 1/4" cable input on the body-pack transmitter. The G90 uses a T-something-or-other connector on the transmitter input and I have seen negative comments on Internet forums about it being delicate. I don't have the ears of a concert pianist, but my rig sounds just the same to me on wireless as it did wired. So if you are tired of getting wrapped around your cable at home like I was, do yourself a huge favor and buy this. You won't regret it.

you deffinatly get your money's worth with this one. i got it and started runing around my house and it sounded amazing. i was a little worried about the plastic encloseure, so i returned it and got the g50 instead just cause of that extra protection (also because the g50 has a little screen that i find to be more helpful) but anyways, great buy, this little thing has big power packed into it.

Comments about Line 6 Relay G30 Digital Wireless Guitar System:

WOW! I bought this wireless today and i have to say this is the most amazing wireless i have ever used! Ive used everything from samson to audio technica to shure and also line6 previous system the x2 and this new relay system is by far the best! i was a little bit hesitant to buy this at first because it was a new product and because it was their lowest model but i have to say this surpassed every expectation i had for it. it takes absolutely nothing away from your tone that you would normally lose with other wireless systems, if anything my tone actually got better! bottom line if you dont have this, buy it. it will blow your mind!!!

perfection!

By Russ Conklin

from Mogadore-Ohio

Comments about Line 6 Relay G30 Digital Wireless Guitar System:

I just purchased this G-30 unit today. I got it to go along with my Spider 4 120 amp and FBV shortboard MK II. Wow what a combination. I really like not being tied to the amp by a chord. I enjoy moving around when I play and this gives me total freedom. The sound is absoutley perfect with the wireless. It is so simple to set up and with a glance at the reciever I know the status of not only the reciever but the transmitter also. This is great because the transmitter is attatched to my guitar strap in a place that I cannot see it. Everything you expect from a Line 6 Product. Russ

WOW!!!!!

By Fluff

Comments about Line 6 Relay G30 Digital Wireless Guitar System:

I have tried many wireless systems and have hated every one of them. I LOVE the feel and tone you get from a good old fashioned cable. I read about the G20 and had to try it. The attack, the sustain, the feel and the body is all there when you play a note or chord. You will find yourself grinning because you just can't believe how good it sounds. No squelch or gain adjustments either. What your guitar is putting out is what the wireless puts out. Amazing. The distance is rated for 100ft, but will go 300 with ease. Even work in elevator shafts!!! Get this now.

Comments about Line 6 Relay G30 Digital Wireless Guitar System:

just unreal that a wireless can actually sound better then my custom made mogami cable. in a A/B comparison the cable sounded like a blanket was over my cab, G30 was nice and sparkling. Apparently this wireless adds some type of small drive and presence to the front end of the amp. Though most of the time any color from a digital unit would be bad Line 6 nailed it with this unit. Excellent and amazing I bought this over the G50 because it takes just a regular 1/4" cable. ZERO noise, ZERO interferance and the range is just fine for the medium to large stages my group, Ratchet, plays.... excellent job Line 6 P.s this is running through 2 Carvin Legacy half stacks with a G Major fx system Buy this

Package sucks

Comments about Line 6 Relay G30 Digital Wireless Guitar System:

The G30 works well, but it does not work for 8 hours on a set of AA alkaline batteries. It also breaks easily. The metal clip is attached to the back by two plastic hooks and since they are plastic they will break as I experienced. If one breaks it cannot be held on to the clip so you can't use it, unless you put it in your pocket, which is uncomfortable and feels wierd having it transmit so close to your.....
Also, the battery compartment door sucks. It does not close flat since the batteries are forced towards it so hard with too strong of springs. This makes the door not close flat, and it is only held closed by a little tiny plastic tab that locks it closed. Again, plastic, so it will break or with the pressure, slip and the door will open spilling the batteries when you are running around the stage.
So think about these issues before buying this or any other Line 6 Relay. It does not matter how good the electronics perform it the package design was poor.

Comments about Line 6 Relay G30 Digital Wireless Guitar System:

This product is all but perfect. Everything that has been said about it is mostly true, however, the durability is very lacking. Keep in mind that this specific model is made out of plastic. I am about to go in to exchange my 3rd unit for yet another. The clip is always the first thing to break off, which can be done without as it can fit in your pocket, HOWEVER, it is frustrating when this happens WHILE PLAYING. Obviously, you do not want to drop any wireless unit you own, but you would like the comfort of knowing that IF it fell, it would still be okay. This specific units battery compartment latch breaks from a 2 foot fall... If you don't do anything crazy, wild movements on stage or are willing to invest in a case to hold the unit, this product is perfect. For my overly-active stage antics, it is just temporary until I buy a more durable unit.

    By Matt

Comments about Line 6 Relay G30 Digital Wireless Guitar System:

I went through many wireless systems before I settled on this one. It is simple and effective. It has NEVER had a single problem since I've gotten it. I also prefer it to the G50 because it's simpler, it doesn't have any external antanae's and it takes a 1/4 to 1/4 cable from the transmitter to the guitar. And of course the tone is absolutely perfect. I've even read articles about how the signal makes it to the speaker faster than a cable when tested side by side!

    What were they thinking?

    By Steve

    from Houston TX

Comments about Line 6 Relay G30 Digital Wireless Guitar System:

The tech specs on the Line 6 website claims approx 8 hours of battery life. After 4 set of quality alkaline batteries I averaged just over 100 minutes before the G30 shut down. In other words this will shut down on you in the second set. And you have to power down the receiver to get the system to reset and resume transmitting. And the battery door latch needs a redesign, very hard to get it to close and latched. I have returned it for a refund.

    Failed when I needed it

    By Sheldon

    from Sioux Falls, SD

Comments about Line 6 Relay G30 Digital Wireless Guitar System:

I found the sound quality to be great. The construction is poor quality for the money. Plastic, I felt like it could easily be broken. My first attempt to gig with it was at a nice venue that has it's own Wi-Fi connection (I've read strong wifi can cause interference). During soundcheck it worked fine but once there were people there with all those smartphones it must've interfered with the signal (appx 500-600 people). I grabbed my guitar, turned it on and my signal was about half as loud as it should've been. Instead of trying to mess around with it I just used a mogami cable. Fail. Upgrading to the Shure GLXD16.

Comments about Line 6 Relay G30 Digital Wireless Guitar System:

First of all like I the G 30 so much I bought two (for the second transmitter). The problem is the second transmitter starter having problem. I called the warranty department at GC, they said its still under factory warranty. I sent it to the factory authorized repair on 07 Sept, on in November the repair center still had even looked at it. Called Line 6 they had me go pick it up for the repair center. Now Line 6 is giving me the run around and its 05 Dec on shipping it to them. It would be nice just to deal with my local GC and not waste my time with a warranty call center for GC or the manufacture warranty. My local GC should handle it all. Just a heads up when buying the extended warranty.

Killer little piece for the money

    By STEVE

    from St Louis, MO

Comments about Line 6 Relay G30 Digital Wireless Guitar System:

I play in a rockabilly band using an old 1948 Kay that I have set up specifically for that purpose. I have wanted to have a discrete wireless system for some time to allow me to control feedback better and also allow more stage movement. I have tried a couple Audio Technica pieces I had laying around as well as a Shure PG all of which altered the tone and also cut out. I saw the G30 on sale for $199 and figured I would give it a shot. I read the reviews and it looked OK. Anyway, this little piece is killer. I really do not care about huge range as I am 15 feet from my amp. That distance drastically reduces my feedback and also gives me a better idea of stage balance. I use an Ampeg SVT350 and (2) Mark Bass deep 2X10 cabinets with one on each side of the drummer on angled amp stands. The bass is set up w/ a K&K piezo under the fingerboard running into a little Schatten preamp attached with Velcro also under the fingerboard. This is wired in parallel to a Schaller magnetic pickup attached to the end of the fingerboard. It allows me to have a master volume and is very discrete. The little line 6 is also under the fingerboard w/ Velcro so I can see the status light and get to the On / Off switch. I put an On / Off switch in the preamp and eliminated the 1/4" jack completely by soldering it directly to the other pickup volume control along with an LED so I can control it separately for volume or completely eliminate it and I then also have a Master Volume control via the Schaller. The G30 is incredibly quiet and does not color the sound at all. The claims of it sounding like a cable are true. Unfortunately the claims of battery life are also true. I put new ones in when we start then change them after the second set just to be safe. It takes maybe 30 seconds. It is just a matter of keeping a 12 pack of AAs in the back of the amp, well worth the hassle. I don't know what people keep saying about the batteries not fitting, mine is never a problem no matter what brand I use. I would definitely buy another one of these if anything ever happened to this one. 2.4 GHz for $200 is a steal.

    Are you kidding me???

    By Alan Hendricks

    from New Albany, IN

Comments about Line 6 Relay G30 Digital Wireless Guitar System:

I just got this wireless system a couple weeks ago and have to say it is one of the best investments I have made in a long time. I was very surprised because not only does it NOT color my guitar tone at all but it actually has a clearer/brighter sound than when I use cables! (I don't use cheap cables but I don't use Monster ones either) The difference is like going from an old cheap cable to an expensive Monster cable! As far as the construction goes these are plastic but so is every other wireless system. The transmitter pack is pretty solid feeling and the clip is very rugged and sturdy. I see a lot of people saying they have trouble with the battery lid not closing. I haven't had this issue at all. The receiver is a bit "cheap" feeling BUT lets remember it's meant to be mounted to your rig and left alone. I love it because it is the size of a effect pedal so it is mounted right on my board. I play electric and acoustic at a church every week. We have about 2,500 people in our church so our sanctuary is huge. I can walk around the whole sanctuary (during rehearsal not service lol) and never once drop signal. I even put my phone, laptop and iPad right next to the receiver trying to cause interference but it NEVER has any issues. The battery life is great too. I get about 6 hours of use out of it before it starts blinking red. I definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a DEPENDABLE, GREAT QUALITY wireless!
