I was really hoping to like the Pocket Pod, since it was exactly what I was looking for. I wanted to be able to play guitar in bed, or when I'm travelling, with headphones and have access to various effects and amp models. I planned on using this to come up with new songs and to practice old ones. But even though it had all the features I was looking for, I was pretty disappointed and ended up returning it after a month. Build Quality - First of all, for the price, I think the Pod is too cheap feeling. The quality of the plastic and the knobs felt like it should cost about 1/2 as much. Usability - People complain about the difficulty in accessing the features, but I don't think it's much of a problem. You can't access all of the settings with the knobs, but you can tweak them with the software available online. Given that portability is a key feature, I can't find fault in a limited number of controls. You have access to all of the features you need. Sound Quality - This is where the product completely fails, in my opinion. The clean sounds were decent, and some of the really high gain or heavily modulated sounds were neat. But other than that, all the sounds were very thin and harsh sounding. I tried downloading the most popular sounds online, and they still didn't sound good to me. If you're looking for really high gain or metal sounds, and don't mind the digital harshness, it might work for you. I have a last-gen Digitech RP250 multi-effects pedal and I find the sounds to be much warmer and fuller. I'm considering trying out the Korg Pandora, or I may just hold off until something better comes out down the road.

Dam........... this POD is~~~~~!!

By tito

from Florida at the moment

Comments about Line 6 Pocket POD Guitar Multi-Effects Processor:

This Pod is excellent, it'll save u some money for getting every effect pedal out there because you get to make 32 unique effect urself. it's neat. the only thing i didn't like much is the band effects. alot of them sounds similar, just a few here and there that's slightly different. over all the headphone jack sounds great!!! without having to plug into an amp. neat! Small and light weight, easy to take it with me around the world.

Pocket POD

By dao

Comments about Line 6 Pocket POD Guitar Multi-Effects Processor:

I really like this POD. The only thing i don't like about it is that the battery runs out way too quickly. I used about a set of battery every two or three days. Battery is going to be a big problem for you if you buy this unless you get a power adapter which i going to get soon.

great little thing

By poncho gonzalez

Comments about Line 6 Pocket POD Guitar Multi-Effects Processor:

I've played semiprofessionally for 17 years and have owned from the cheapests amps and effects to bassman and deluxe reverb amps. I use my pocket pod with a crate power block and sounds amazing. I took the preset called BAD and turned the mids and treble all the way up as well as the drive (half way) and sounds like a real tube amp (with dynamics included).Tweak the knobs and find your own voice. I also own the POD 2.0 Both are great!

Dynamite comes in small packages

By Matt Jackson

from Katy, TX

Comments about Line 6 Pocket POD Guitar Multi-Effects Processor:

This little box has everything in it and more than my buddies original rack mounted pod. I can't tell you how versatile this pocket pod is. Any sound you want, it's in there. Any sound you want to create, done, just dial it in and your off to the races. Line6 has made me a permanent believer in their products. I won't use anything else for my guitar. I play a Gibson Les Paul Vintage Mahogany with Seymour Duncan '59s in it and the tone I get from this pod is awesome. Go Buy One Today!

Fantastic

By Lou

from New Jersey

Comments about Line 6 Pocket POD Guitar Multi-Effects Processor:

I have been paying mostly acoustic guitar for the last 20 years and never really felt the electric was my thing even though I have a Tele Standard for 12 years. A friend of mine has a regular POD and I played through it and loved it so much I bought a Pocket POD the same day. The unit eats batteries every 6 hours, so I bougth the AC adapter. I've been using it connected to my Mesa Boogie or Crate or headphones three to fours hours a day and I love it. It's great when you play a song with the right amp sound and effects!

Comments about Line 6 Pocket POD Guitar Multi-Effects Processor:

I am a U.S. armed forces member currently serving in Iraq. This little guy has been great. I've dropped this thing about 9000 times and it's never had any problems. If you're looking for a mobile effects processor that sounds great, this is what you need. I highly recommend it.

Stop reading! GO BUY THIS THING!!!!

By Eman

from New York

Comments about Line 6 Pocket POD Guitar Multi-Effects Processor:

I am always reading reviews but never write them..except for now. The reviews on here convinced me to purchase this thing for my home recording. All i have to say is that everything good that you have heard about this POD this absolutely true! I had trouble getting a good thick and heavy sound for my home recording using amps and mics..But only when i pluged this POD in is when i got the best crunch and heavy distortion that i was looking for. Its amazing how they made something so small sound sooooooooooo good. I was impressed to see how the amp sounds were so close to the real thing. This thing DOES sound like a 500 dollar pedal and its only 129 bucks!! My advice to you is to STOP reading and just buy it!! Honestly, there is NO WAY that you won't be happy with the performance of this POD. I am still in shock that Line 6 is offering this at such a low price. Im even considering buying another one as a christmas present, its so AWESOME. The construction doesn't appear strong, its plastic but for the price and the sound this thing delivers WHO THE HECK CARES!! Although I wouldn't recommend you playing with this on stage because it might not survive a kick or an accidental stomp...But then again, this WAS NOT meant to be a stage pedal. If you want a stage pedal then you're better off not buying this one and spending a couple of more bucks to get its big brother. This pocket POD is only for Jamming to the sounds on your MP3 player, Recording with a KILLER sound or simply jamming using headphones without disturbing others. I dont see how every guitarist can't benefit from owning one of these, ill say it again.. BUY IT and you wont be dissapointed.

Awesome!

By Marco

from Sydney

Comments about Line 6 Pocket POD Guitar Multi-Effects Processor:

Wow, this Pod is excellent! I got one for christmas and I really like it. Its a great tool for when your on the go, having a midnight jam, or recording to your PC, and its much smaller than any of the other Pods, it literally fits in your pocket! It has dozens of effects built in and heaps of presets. I find one of the coolest things is how you can download tones from the net and create your own with the Vyzex software. The only couple of things I dont like about it is the poor battery life (but I will get an adapter soon) and you cant plug a footswitch into it, so you pretty much cant change between clean/distortion in the middle of a song. But then again, thats not really what this Pod is designed for. Overall, I think the Line 6 Pocket POD is a great and useful tool thats amazing for the price!

Great sound Poor computer interface

By Kirk

from United States

Comments about Line 6 Pocket POD Guitar Multi-Effects Processor:

This product is good for practicing. It has some great sounds in a small package. I was let down with the computer editing. The software has a lot of bugs and line 6 seems slow to relase patches to fix the problem. If computer based tone editing is not important to you then it is a great product.

WOAH, 120 for this??

By J. Bones

from New Jersey

Comments about Line 6 Pocket POD Guitar Multi-Effects Processor:

Now I don't own one of these things but I have seen it used first hand. If your new at guitar don't buy one of these, trust me you'll be dissapointed. The batteries run for about 4-8 hours, so not much use there for the very active player. It's only capible in studio as on stage its impossible to switch between effects. And It's not worth it. I own a DS-1 Distortion by Boss, this thing couldn't make half the tones that my distortion could, and trust me the Boss was so much better, and only 39.99!! So take my advice by a multitude of pedals not one effects processor, and you won't be dissapointed.

Comments about Line 6 Pocket POD Guitar Multi-Effects Processor:

If you are buying it to mess around with on car trips or in your dorm, good deal. If you are trying to use it with the internet to get metal tones, save your money unless you are a computer whiz. It doesn't work with windows xp unless you are a computer programmer. Same with windows 2000. I don't know about with macintosh.

Great Sounds/ One Complaint

By Steve

from NEPA

Comments about Line 6 Pocket POD Guitar Multi-Effects Processor:

Killer sounds. Great to record with (need 1/8" to 1/4" plug). Easy to use. One complaint: sometimes when you plug it in, it won't work. You'll just get a clicking sound. You'll need to unplug it and start over. Basically rebooting it.

Great for Travel

By O-G

from La Porte, IN.

Comments about Line 6 Pocket POD Guitar Multi-Effects Processor:

This POD works great. I use it for traveling for business along with the TravelerGuitar. The combo works great. I was really impressed with the sound quality. I use the POD X3 Live normally and didn't expect to get the same sounds but it's very close. I get some great sounds, software works well, plug in the IPOD and I find myself playing for hours at the hotel and on layovers at the airort. It's small so very portable. I have no complaints. If you want something small, portable, inexpesive but still sounds great I think you should try this.

Great Tone... while it lasts

By JOSH ULCH

from Detroit

Comments about Line 6 Pocket POD Guitar Multi-Effects Processor:

I've had my Pocket Pod for about 18 months. It has fantastic tones, easy to setup user presets with the computer, works great for recording. By far, the best tube like tone for any multi-effects unit on the market. If it was based upon that alone, I'd give it five stars. But I took one star away because it only has a 90 day warranty. I've never seen a guitar product have such a short warranty except for something like strings. The unit developed a nasty hum and its out of warranty. Took another star away because the Pocket Pod developed a nasty ground hum that wouldn't go away unless you touched the outer jack of the guitar cable. (I changed guitars, cables, and reversed the polarity of the Line 6 power supply, no dice). Tried to contact Line 6 and their "authorized" repair center wants $65 just to look at it. Really? Half the price of a new unit just to look at it? great tones, poor reliability.

Great Product

By William LaBerge

from Austin, Tx

Comments about Line 6 Pocket POD Guitar Multi-Effects Processor:

I think its important to take note, that a lot of the reviews done on this item are from 08' and 09'.. The software and firmware have had a lot of updates and tweaking done, the tones are what you would expect from Line 6, Glorious. I haven't downloaded user tones yet, but there are thousands to choose from. I scooped this up at a pawn shop, but its well worth the money, I have a small practice amp, and this thing along with a daddy o...blues sounds are awesome, metal sounds are great, I'm very happy with this, it packs a lot into a small item, the tone is VERY good. I'd say the only downside is that its NOT a pedal. I set mine on a coffee table sit on the couch and jam. Its PERFECT for practice and I'd even use it for recording, love it. Buy it!
