Started with the floor pod. Lot's of fun, but really just a toy to play around the house with. I thought this product would be a little better for live, and it is. It is pretty complicated and you have to read all the instructions to get it right. Line 6 offers a gillion "patches" on line so you can sound like anyone you can think of. Tons of fun, but pretty complicated.

well i mean i got it thinking i was going to sound amazing, and that i was going to sound amazing... turns out that ive only used enough times to attempt to figure it out... maybe im just an idiot but i think its too complicated of a system for the average person to figure out on their own... i'd say its a bad choice kids... go for something more probable...

I run my pedal thru a Jet City 2112 Combo Tube AMP and with the Line 6 POD XT Live I can obtain almost any sound imaginalbe. With this pedal your options are limitless. The dials and function are easily adjustible to dial in that perfect tone your looking for, however, you really need to do your homework to figure out how to program the unit. Nevertheless, the POD XT is still easier to program than most pedals. Unlike most pedals, the POD XT is well built and extremly durable and it is so much better than buying individual pedals. Furthermore, the POD XT is powered by an adaptore and there is no need for batteries. Thus, you never have to worry about changing batteries before each gig. If you looking for a great effects pedal board, this is it!
Let me say, right off the bat, that I love line6 products. I've been a sound guy and a guitar tech for more than 20 years and I have seen a ton of the red beans and the floor units. They've all been versatile and highly reliable. When I got my PodXTlive, I was actually looking at a Zoom 9.2tt. But this one was on clearance and the Zoom was on back order. So I knew I couldn't go wrong grabbing the Pod. Needless to say, when I got home and got this thing all set up, I wasn't disappointed. I'm a tweaker and a tone junkie so this thing can, and has, kept me occupied for hours. I'm stil looking for that elusive sweet spot, the holy Grail and I know it just might be inside of this thing. The PodXTlive is built like a tank. It weighs a ton but it's also solid steel, so I know I'm not going to break it. The wah sounds on it are so good that I'm taking back the Vox wah pedal I bought. I'm not going to need it. I bought the line6 add-on expression pedal so I'm all set. This Pod is so versatile. Imagine going from a Van Halen brown sound to Brad Paisley at the push of a couple of buttons. It's amazing. I'm ready to rock, or twang, or whatever
I've been playing 8-10 hours live a week for over a year, and this single piece of gear has become my single solution. It's all I use, and I get amazing tone. And not by soso standards; this gives me studio tone wherever I go, live. It sounds as good as any recording you've heard, and I'll never give it up. IF YOU TAKE THE TIME, it will yield the results you need to play the music you love. And the USB out leaves out the need for an interface for recording. At home, I use it all the time, and the connection is flawless.
I had my unit(my PAL)for a little bit over 6 years now, and believe me, this unit went through some serious beating from me. I live in a tropical island where the temprature, humidity and the high salt content in the air really takes a toll on any electronic device. Imagine six years of hard gigging and this unit will not quit. It kept my setting that I had dialed in and mastered flawlessly without degrading through all those years. It even went through a surgery where I have an electronic tech rig it to permanently secure the power supply cord due to my neglegence. But finally my old friend quit. The volume/expression pedal broke and the pedal was stuck in off position, and once again it quit because of my neglegence. Never... I say again, never leave this unit inside your car for 4 days when the ouside temprature is about 110 degrees farenheit, because it will be about 3x the actual temp inside your car. It will melt any plastic or rubber component that it has inside. I visited 3 Guitar Centers in Washington state last June during a visit and all 3 stores are sold out!! Can you believe that! That should tell you something. I attempted to order the same unit online and it was also out of stock! So... to my old PAL! goodbye, I will definitely miss you! I went ahead and purchase your big brother!! the PODXT3 Live.........
First off, I have to say that I'm not a hardcore guitarist, so for those who'd like to discredit this review, it's fine by me. From my experience with this PodXT piece of hardware, I love it. It has more sounds then I can shake a stick at, and the ability to work with GuitarPort software helps me to make personalized sounds a lot more easily than I could otherwise. I also enjoy using the AUX in jack to play along with songs from my iPod or my computer (it makes learning some songs much more feasible, in my opinion).
I was at guitar center looking for a multi-effects pedal. I had tried numerous BOSS and Digitech pedals. After almost giving up and just getting a bunch of pedals, I tried out the XT Live. The sound was very clean, and the channel switching could not get any easier. The rectangle shaped buttons are actually very durable and not too big or too small, as to the X3 live, which had very small buttons, which were hard to operate standing up. The 2nd screen displaying the channel was also very bright and easy to read standing up. The overall construction is very rugged, solid metal. I literally can't even think how this could get any better.
This pedal is absolutely fantastic, it has basically every effect and amp style you could possibly want, it's built mainly of metal so it's very sturdy, the sounds it comes with are great, but what really comes in handy, is the online patch library, line 6 has an online patch library that has every sound you can ask for, even some of your favorite guitarists sounds, the few downfalls I've found after having the pedal for awhile now are, the expression pedal, it is a wah and volume pedal, and it works amazing, but after awhile, the pedal gets a little lose, making the sound a bit off sometimes, and the knobs are very touchy, the slightest move can raise the volume exponentially, but besides that it's an amazing pedal and highly recommended for all kinds of music, the sturdy build makes it great for gigging, tho it's always recommended to by the bag, for you never know what can happen next, 5star 100%
I bought this pedal last year used, and I absolutely love it. I just wish it would have been made 20 years ago, before I bought all these amps. Sounds great direct to recorder or an amp or P.A. with some tweaking. Its unlimited as far as sound and the different changes in sound from one output source to the next. Its best to COMPLETELY study the manual everyday to get the good out of this grape! You will learn a lot of history from this manual also, as it is based on old effects and amps, as well as some new ones! Tweaking is the key to getting what you want out of this unit...
I bought one of these bad boys with four of the extra modeling packs pre-installed. It simply blows my mind how good it sounds, and how much is on it. The tone is what you'd expect from line6, and the usability both on the floor and when plugged in using Line6 Edit on the computer are awesome. Highly recommend you buy this pedal!
Ive had the the POD XT LIVE for about a year and it is great. It can make any sound that you can think of. I'm very satisfied with it. Buy it.
