Public Service Announcement: Latency Kills
Recording with latency is like driving with your eyes closed. Line 6's ToneDirect monitoring allows you to record and monitor a fully processed tone while virtually eliminating latency and taking all the guesswork out of recording great-sounding tracks.
What's latency? Latency is the delay caused by the time it takes your guitar signal to travel all the way through your hardware interface, through your computer's processor, through your plug-in software, back through your hardware interface, and out of your speakers or headphones. This delay is heard in your monitoring signal and makes recording almost impossible. With a POD Studio KB37 interface, latency is something you won't have to worry about.

Comments about Line 6 POD Studio KB37 USB Audio Interface with POD Farm Plug-in:
I bought the KB37 a couple of weeks ago to use as the main midi controller/usb interface for my home recording rig. I use a Macbook with Garage Band and Logic installed, and like to keep things as simple as possible. The KB37 arrived quickly, and installation of the software bundle went smoothly. I was able to use the keyboard functions immediately, and the guitar followed quickly after tweaking the audio output setting on my macbook. I'm still learning to use all the features, but so far the KB37 has filled the niche I bought it for. It comes with a lot of software to play with : Pod Farm, Reason Adapted, and Ableton Live are especially useful in my opinion. The KB37 itself has that Line 6 "plasticy" feel, but seems solid enough. I wouldn't expect it to be REALLY road worthy, but it's not designed for that anyway. For a bedroom recording rig or small studio this is a valuable addition. Although I was impressed with the overall quality and features of the KB37, I deducted one star from this review because of a couple of issues: No manuals are included with the unit or any of the software. From what I understand, this is typical of Line 6 products, and support is primarily expected to come from online faqs and user forums. There is a bare bones online manual for the KB37, but it's not very detailed and I was left with questions. I actually had to rely on internet searches to get answers to a few questions I had. I consider myself moderately familiar with digital recording technology, and I still had to bring in a couple of more informed friends, and spent a couple of hours before we got everything functioning perfectly. One thing to keep in mind is that the KB37 acts as an outboard sound card, so it may be necessary to toggle between it and your computer's sound card for it to function as expected. Once we figured that out, we got everything running smoothly, and the KB37 did not disappoint. So, if you're new to working with these kinds of interfaces there may be a learning curve to overcome, but it's not insurmountable, and the unit delivers as promised. Reservations about the lacking technical support aside, the KB37 delivered. I'm now able to track guitars, voice, and midi instruments with one well thought out piece of hardware that provides lots of features in a well thought out platform that doesn't take up much space. I'm quite pleased with this purchase.
