guys gals great thing but it screws your plugin your phone do not buy it
Nice device, it works perfect with Garageband. Better sounds and variaty if you use the Line6 POD app. I used to travel a lot, so this thing is my perfect company. I can jam and record quietly in the hotel room and loudly in my studio at home. As other reviews say, it is made in cheap plastic and the connection to the ipad is not to strong, but that doesn't bother me. I wasn't sure about the iRig and since I have a many Line6 devices i decide to be safe and get other L6 toy.It didn't dissapoint me once again. However I bought the iRig Mic to try the IK Multimedia devices and evaluate if I lost an opportunity with the iRig, but it was not the case. Very satisfied with Mobile In by Line6
I can't believe how much better this is than the iRig. It's quiet, the included software works really well and the models sound great I'd be giving this 5 stars except, I find especially on my iPad the mechanics of plugging this in seems a little wobbly. I'd also love to be able to get the line6 amp models to work with garage band, this may be that I just haven't figured this out yet. Worth every cent and highly recommended
I have been searching through-out the internet to get the real scoop on this device ? Most of the reviews were heavy on opinion and light on specs/facts. I would have to agree with most reviewers the Mobile In is rather cheaply made ? plastic and light weight. As an existing owner of other Line 6 products, I was excited to see what Line 6 could bring to the table but somewhat disappointed with the quality of the product case. The free download Mobile Pod from Itunes has a straight forward interface allowing users to mix and match modeled effects, amp heads, and cabinets. There are a few constraints here 4 effects before the amp and cabinet and 4 effects after the amp and cabinet. This should meet most player?s needs but the fact that there are no distortion effects in the effects list is a bit of a mystery? I realize there are the purest out there that insists all distortion should be amp distortion, but the adding of modeled distortion effects just makes sense. Although it is true there are thousands of patches available for free download from with-in the app, but many of them are the exact same patch with a slight almost non-discernable difference. The sound that are there are great!!! Many of the sound have stereo resonance (ping-pong delays, stereo reverb and/or chorus). The device brings in the Guitar signal much much better (the 2 muches were not typos) than any of the thru the headset devices (believe me I?ve tried them). This device is virtually noiseless, no crosstalk and lots more dynamic range (Yes you can use you Guitar volume control again). Finally, I have not been able to use the Mobile POD app with any other app ? including playing along with backing tracks ? But I am able to use the interface with the AmpKit+ app and the JamUp app, both of which allow the playing with baking track very smoothly ?unfortunately you have to give up the Line 6 amp models for the other in app amp models ? but still very useful. Over all I do like the unit even with the fore-mentioned limitations ? I would recommend it and give it 4 of 5 stars
The device itself is somewhat flimsy. It is made of cheap plastic and doesn't stay plugged in well. The sound from the Line 6 app is great. Typical Line 6 tones. The downside is that you can't really "use" them for anything beyond a headphone amp. There is no way to record the Line 6 tones on the iPad, and it's really too flimsy to use in a live situation. It IS a much better input device than the iRig, and allows you to use much higher gain settings than GarageBand. The problem is that once you hear the Line 6 tones, you realize how awful the Apple tones are. Line 6 needs to develop an app that allows you to really use this device. A simple recording app/DAW that allows you to use the device to its potential. They also need to make the device more rugged and stay connected better. I also think it should abandon the 1/8" inputs and go to pigtails, allowing you to use a normal guitar cable. This should include bringing out the line out signal that is present on the iPad connector, thus allowing the device to better work in live and mini recording studio applications.
I have owned this item for 2 weeks and I've spent a lots of "happy time" with it! I also own the iRig, the most legit competitor, and have for several months. The Mobil In sounds absolutely fantastic! The other is quite noisy. Considering it was a new technology (iRig) I was prepared to accept a degree of imperfection since I really only planned to use it for practice. The Line 6 sound quality is as good as my Pocket Pod! I would consider using this in the studio and maybe even in a live show (but only as a novelty as it is not quick switching between sounds. I have an iPhone 4. Perhaps it's quicker on the 4S or the iPad. Play it through a decent set of headphones or external speakers with some bass response as the built in speaker is not loud enough to hear over the sound of the guitar itself and produces no low end. Another great app, other than the Line 6 app, is PocketAmp as it lets you play the iPod at the same time so you can jamm with your favorite tracks! I do not work for anyone that would benefit financially from recommending the item or the app. My only complaint: You have to use the supplied 1/4" to 1/8" cable (or any other, or an adapter.) With the iRig you can use any 1/4" cable. The Mobil In also has an 1/8" stereo line in! Hopefully future editions of the Line 6 app will allow you to record as I have been very inspired by some of the sounds.
