Solid amp with a great sound. The app works great and I love that I can stream music via blue tooth and play over tracks. I'd buy this amp again.
I recently purchased the 75W model and it works great! It sounds great with both my electric and acoustic guitars and works well as a Bluetooth speaker. I was a little hesitant to get the 75 vs the 150 because I wanted to use it as a party speaker, but I'm perfectly satisfied now, it even puts out enough clear sound to use for Friday night tailgates, with full presence and depth in an outdoor setting. The 8 inch amp speaker provides rich bass tones and is still powerful enough to rattle the windows in my house. For a young musician on a budget, this amp is the best value and quality for the money because of the vast range of tones and sounds as well as output capability and can be used for all styles and settings.
2 Days ago Line 6 pushed their new update for Amplifi Remote App onto the Apps Store and this new update is version 1.01 which does not work on iPod touch or iPhones anymore, because the developers didn't test very thoroughly, or they just fail at programming..and the lameness of Apple's control freak status when it comes to managing people and software give no rooom or tolerance for rolling back or reverting to older software versions so anyone buying these amps just be aware you won't get to use it much without Line 6 fixing this issue. The new version just crashes upon program launch and won't load or work at all. Having said all of that, the amp is a great product, at least in theory, and when I got to use it after forking out 450 for the amp and another 250 for a new iPod touch for one day, I was impressed with the effects and tones. Perhaps some day soon if Line 6 can improve their software engineering department prior to releasing problematic software, people may even be able to use the product they bought!
I like the amp and the concept of marrying it to the Bluetooth speaker. Problem was that the Bluetooth was really flakey. I had to put my iPad or iPhone directly on top of the amp. And even then it was hit or miss. When I returned it, they said I was far from the first person with the same complaint. Wait a while for the inevitable upgrade.
I was a little reluctant at first but after using it and with my iPad I can say is Wow. I like the sound. I play a strat and sometimes solid state amps sound kind of brittle Not this amp? it sounds very nice (clean)? nothing over done. even with out the iPad it still is capable. I am happy with the purchase it sounds as good as any amp that I have ever heard. Has USB connection so you can hook up to Garage Band or others. I love the size and seems to be made/designed well too.
After this amp debuted at NAMM I was really excited for it as I do a lot of my practicing using the POD Farm Software. This amp (using the iOS app) has a lot of those same models and effects as those in POD Farm. My wife and I were also looking for a new music player for a room and with the bluetooth capabilities of the Amplifi, were hoping this would be a great solution for that. A week after it was introduced i went to GC and played on it at low volumes and ran a few songs through the bluetooth connection, it sounded decent and i was excited for it so i picked it up. After getting it home and really putting some time in to it, i found a lot of the clean setting to be pretty good, however, the high gain amps i felt had a very "tin can" sound to them as well as noisy even with a noise gate going on. The bluetooth music playback wasn't what i hoped for either. It works well as something to jam to but the bass output is very poor. While a song was playing and i switched between the music player and the amp setting I always got a half a second pause in playback as well. I found the bluetooth connection to be unstable as well. Sometimes it would fire right up, others it would fight me to stay connected even while being right next to the amp. My iPhone is a 5s and not even a month and a half old btw. I also found using the app became tedious as well. I originally loved that feature, don't get me wrong the interface is easy to use and works fairly well, i just found it to be cumbersome to ALWAYS use the touch screen compared to just turning a knob on a amp like I'm used to. I love the innovation and have used and will continue to use Line 6 products for years. This amp has potential but i think it needs more time before truly being good. I ended up returning mine and picking up a Spider iv 75, which so far I'm much happier with.
I absolutely love this amp! Sounds great, love the ability to stream music and play thru it simultaneously, solid build quality and for 75W, seems plenty loud enough for my needs. Being able to easily use the amp for general bluetooth streaming is an addd bonus, and made purchasing this a no-brainer! While the ios app seems like a relatively bug free first effort, I'm sure we'll see continued improvement and additions to make the amp even more useful. I liked the fact that I was able to essential re-flash the amp with a software update via the app. The tone suggestion feature is very cool, and it also allows you to search the cloud for sounds. Being able to download your favorite sound configurations to the amp for use without the app is also very handy. It would be great if the usb connector on the back of the amp (the manual says it's for future use, usb type 2 connector typically found on printers) could be used to charge the device your running the ios app on. Special thanks to Austin and crew at the Arlington location for taking good care of me!
I saw this reviewed at NAMM. Bought it without even trying it out. I have a couple of yamaha thr10 s already and love them, so that's your reference. The AMPLIFI is a very cool piece. Love the Bluetooth interactivity with my iPad. Easily connects once you have downloaded the free ap. you can control your tones with your iPad and the AMPLIFI across the room. Name and store your own presets to your iPad. Accesses your iTunes and plays em through the AMPLIFI while you play along. Another cool feature is on some songs there are tone suggestions for playing along. The sound....well...the tunes part sounds just like a good boom box..but the guitar sounds come through a bit nasally, IMHO. Not horrible, but some unpleasant mids there...I've tweaked the sounds a bit but that nasal sound is just there...maybe the 12 in speaker of it's bigger brother the 150 w version solves this. That was the one I wanted but wasn't in stock. Overall, it's a very cool piece with lots of flexibility and tech, easy to use and sounds good.
