plug in and start jamming
Right out of the box this thing is cool. I was intending on just buying a Guitar Port so I could practice in hotel rooms via my laptop, but decided to spend a little extra cash on the UX2 and am so glad I did. The presets are great and plentiful, and tweaking your own sound is easy and addicting. My Les Paul still sounds like a Les Paul, and I lose hours playing with this thing. The Gearbox software is great, but their online stuff needs a little tending to. I still haven't been able to record anything. Perhaps I'm mistaken, but it seems that Ableton's Live Lite recording software is a demo; unless I drop another 189 bucks for the upgrade, I can't save or burn anything. I know a lot of sampling/mixer types that love Ableton, but without being able to save my work, it is fairly useless to me. But according to the info, this great little unit will interface with other software, so all hope is not lost. I love how easy this unit is to use and can't believe how good it sounds for the price. I would recommend this little "studio in a box" to anyone wanting a good interface and some awesome sounds and very flexible features. The Ableton issue is the only reason I didn't give it a 5.0 overall.

Great with Apple Garageband
I am writing songs in Garageband on a Mac and this UX2 is a great audio interface - it so simple to make it talk to my mac and there is no latency issue at this point!
GEAR BOX has some really nice tones when i track guitars and i love the visual interface for tweaking the sound patches.
All in all i love this box as it makes recording really quick and easy and it all sounds really nice and has a large library of editable sounds to play with!!!!!
All i want to know is how to buy some more sounds for it from Line6.

AMAZING gizmo
I am not a professional musician, just a hobbyist who has day job and a family. Therefore, I write songs late at night and hate losing time with gear set-up, cables, tuning, etc. NO MORE!! The fabulous Toneport UX2 allows me to keep everything hooked up and ready to go all the time. But make no mistake fellow musicians, this nifty apparatus will not compromise sound quality for such advantages. No, sir. It boasts the well respected Line 6 GTR modeling drivers along with very nice and time-saving Vocal and Bass presets. For those lucky enough to have the time to tweak the almost-infinite array of FX and parameters you'll find the software to be a very deep well of sonic posibilities.
The Port itself feels a little light and cheap plastic but remember that most of its magic relies on software anyways. The jacks and knobs, however, are tight and precise. The VU meters besides making it look super cool, are a great visual aid.
This in one great-performing USB port. Period.
P.S. The Intel-Mac driver is now available and runs without hiccups.

Pretty good
If you want to layer on guitars for blues tracks, metal rhythyms and solos, look no further. This interface has the tones, beats, everything you need to get started on recroding. If you have a mixer that improves this a lot, your band can record with this little thing! Plug your guitar straight in and get great tones from many to choose from or make your own!
