  • Good Amp For The Price

As reviewed by Chaz Okerstrom on 10/30/2011

I've owned this amp for about 6 months, and its decent. For the money, it's one of the best out there, but I recommend investing into a tube amp, with much better sound. I'm not bashing this product, the effects are good, and the interface is very easy to use. This is for beginners only, if you are serious about guitar invest in a more high end amp!

  • Great songwriting tool

As reviewed by Arnold Hablewitz on 4/28/2011

Practice amps typically have a reputation for being one-trick ponies that aren't even good at the trick. I love this amp because for only about the tones are incredible, the FX are cool and useful to tinker with, and I'm finding it easier to really "feel" what I'm trying to write at home. In my band setting, I use a Mesa/Boogie half stack. When I write something at rehearsal...I hear every nuance in my playing, I hear what's working, what's not, what mistakes I'm making, what I need to work on, and it's very inspiring, but previous practice amps that I owned lacked that "feel" to them. On my old practice amps I hit a palm mute, it has no resonance. I hit a chord; I can barely make out the pitches. With this line 6 chord, it doesn't matter what setting I'm on or what FX I am using. I hit a Cadd9 chord...and I can tell it's a Cadd9 chord. I switch it to the "metal" and "Insane" settings, and every palm-mute is a nice, heavy chug. The clean setting sounds like a very rock clean, but tweak the EQ and you can get a nice bluesey tone or even a jazzbox-sound on your neck-pickup. The crunch channel admittedly is the only thing I don't like...it's supposed to sound vintage, but to me it sounds like a clean amp with a Tubescreamer in front...not very rewarding. The metal setting is nice and saturated, but with note-definition and clarity, and I can really crank out some great, technical riffs without missing a note. The "Insane" setting is essentially the "metal" setting but with a lot more gain, so sometimes not as clear, but very inspiring for playing leads all the same. The recording out works great too. Running into Reason, although it doesn't come out studio-clear, it comes out way better than you'd expect a $100, 15-watt amp to sound on a recording. I would buy this again. If nothing else, it makes practicing at home a far more rewarding experience.

  • Decent...

As reviewed by William Bradley on 4/25/2011

I got this amp a couple of months ago just to use for rehearsals, and it's pretty decent for the price. The only problem is, that whenever I switch to a different channel, I have to reset my settings, then put them back the way I had them before switching to another channel. (Ex *All of this is BEFORE I fix my settings*: the Clean channel was to quiet and fuzzy, the Crunch channel was to vibrato-y and too clean sounding, the Metal channel was EXTREMELY loud & grainy, and the Insane channel had the same problems as the Metal channel, just not as loud.) But, other than that, it's a decent amp to use for rehearsing, and small gigs (Parties, small clubs, etc.)
