Almost too much to handle!
I've been playing for almost 9 years, and NEVER have I been so impressed with a piece of gear.
Some notes on this little bad boy:
BE PATIENT!!! This thing takes some getting used to...so enjoy exploring it's endless possibilities.
READ THE MANUAL!!! Cover to cover...it will help keep you from tearing your own head off and give you the ultimate understanding of what you're dealing with.
Get ALL of the software online before you start tweaking on the unit itself...the Gearbox software is AMAZING!
BUY THE EXPANSION PACKS!
It's WELL worth it, TRUST ME! (I only bought the Metal one, but that's all I needed.)
And finally...LEARN TO USE IT! Take the time to explore each amp, and how to shape your tone from beginning to end on it. If you dedicate some time to this thing, it will DEFINATELY pay off!
The day after I bought this, I literally threw my Spider II 210 back in the car and traded it for a mixer and some monitors...I will never own another combo amp again. Using this device through a mixer gives you better tonal control and response than any amp ever could. I have been able to replicate ALL of my favorite tones so far, without headache and heartbreak. The POD, in my opinion, is best for those who record, and run directly into a PA during live performance.
My only gripe about this miracle is that the footswitch was not included. That being said....it's perfect.
***A note to the bad reviews on here....I have read them all, and it seems to me that these people either didn't know how in depth you can go to get your tone or they didn't bother to play with it long enough to find out. I am a tone FREAK!!! And I assure you, with some tweaking, you can mimic ANY tone with this device...PERIOD!

Want The Tone Of The God's And More?!?!
Okay, when I first tried this out, I was amazed at how many options are in that little POD. The Possilities are endless! We will first start with distortion: I think all of the distortion/overdrive is very very real sounding. I ran it through my 2 guitars: a 1964 Gibson S-G orginal, and a 2000 Paul Reed Smith Custom 24. And then I ran it IN FRONT of a Fender Super Reverb. That amp is really clean! So, the best thing you can do get the full potential of the PODxt is to use a really clean amp like the Fender Super Reverb. Out of all the distortion I really prefer the Dumble super overdrive special amp model. I personally have used the Dumble Super Overdrive Amp and the POD model has the exact sound! Now the effects: the effects are extremely clear and crisp sounding! The chorus goes from a lite smooth sound to a dreamy deep sound when picking or struming. The Phaser has all the options for any tempo or beat. now, The Delay is very very good. Any type of delay is possible. If you like the Doobie Brothers China Grove sound, or the Pink Flyod sound, it is ALL there. And the good about these effects is they are EASY to program and use. So, when you are in the middle of a live gig, and you want to change to a different effect, you don't look like an idiot adjusting it in the middle of a song or SOLO for that matter! I have not listed all of the effects but you get the idea. Okay,
when you hook it up LIVE for example depending if you use an amp and if you want the amp to act as a monitor you will want to use the line out feature on the back of the amp. If you want to use the amp but do not want to use the speaker, you can bypass the speaker using the PRE AMP OUT feature if you have it. You might get a little feedback when using both the amp and the PODxt. So the best thing I have found on the market for noise reduction is the ROCKTRON HUSH pedal. Unlike other noise gates that chop off the end of the note, the HUSH pedal actually adds to you sustain and quiets BOTH the amp and PODxt. Make sure you run the HUSH pedal THROUGH the amp, NOT IN FRONT! Well, the last thing I will say is that I have been playing music for a long time now. I used to get frustrated with trying to find my exact tone or trying to get the right set up. BUT I finally found the right thing!!

Line 6 did guitarists right !!!
Thank you Line 6 for the new Line 6 PODXT Amp Modeler with Effects. Finally a solution that works for recording direct, no more getting evicted from your apartment because you needed to record a high gain amplifier. This wouldn't mean squat if the product wasn't convincing at the end product, the tone.finally real tone recordable anywhere, anytime.I still record guitar amps but now I can crank out real amp tones right into my laptop to log ideas when they happen. Most my podxt tracks end up being kept because they usally end up sounding great, no need to retake.Last thing, its updatable for free, what a deal!!!

Out Standing Floor POD
I had no efects pedals, for this last minuite gig I just received, but the place I was playing at, let me borrow this.
It sounded great throught my 70's Reissue Fender Stratocaster, and it was pretty good through my backup guitar, Gibson Les Paul Studio.
I had a great gig, and I could'nt be more pleased with it!!!
But I noticed that the tuner was inaccurate, so I would recommend this, with a Fender Pedal Tuner.

PODXT Rocks!
I started out using this at home for amp modeling so I could record into my computer. It works fantastic. I didnt need to mike my amp or use a mixing board. I then plugged it in live to my Mesa Boogie, set the controls on the amp to 5, and set the volume to 2, plugged in the Les Paul and the sound is incredible. I use it to play in our band live and its incredibly flexible. I can download amp patches for free. I purchased the larger FBV footboard and it is very versatile! I played at a gig with some guys who had Marshall stacks and blew their muddy sound away, plus had echo and other effects immediately available. I wouldnt trade it for anything and recommend it to anyone who will listen. The amount of money I've saved by not having to buy individual amps and effects is phenomenal, and I can sound like anyone out there or be original.
Several things to note: I considered buying the new Live floor model when it came out, but was concerned about dust getting in the electronics and getting scratchy sounds. Save your patches before upgrading the firmware because the sounds can change. Buy gig bags to protect your investment, its worth it.
