LowDown tone in a powerful and punchy combo.

The Line 6 LowDown LD400 Pro is a bass amp that offers venue-filling volume and LowDown tone in a powerful and punchy 2x10 combo package. Boasting a relentless, fully adjustable Rock tone, and 4 additional required tones ranging from R&B to Grind, the LD400 Pro bass amp offers power, versatility, and commanding tonal definition for the pro player.

The Line 6 LD400 amp also comes with a crucial set of 5 effects, led by a dedicated studio-quality compressor based on the LA-2A, and including a Smart Control FX Envelope Filter, Octaver, Chorus, and a full-featured bass Synth with fully adjustable parameters.

Designed for the gigging bassist, the LD400 Pro is a versatile amp that features an array of necessary ins, outs, and hardware, including an NL4M-series Speakon speaker output for an external cabinet, a balanced XLR direct output with exclusive A.I.R. processing, a 1/4" preamp output, and a pair of brawny 10" speakers ready to rattle some ribs and project your sound.

Amp Models:
Clean

Inspired by the Eden Traveler, this model is all about clean, funk, and fusion bass tone. It'll give you warm lows and punchy highs.

R&B

Inspired by a '68 B-15 Flip Top, this model is a tribute to those clean, fat, bass tones of the late 60's and early 70's. It is the kind of tone you hear on most Motown recordings, as played by the pioneering young bassist James Jamerson.

Rock

This model is inspired by the '74 Ampeg SVT which has appeared on innumerable recordings and arena stages worldwide. Now, all the tone of the head and 300-pound behemoth 8x10 cab is available without having to lookup a chiropractor.

Brit

Based on a '68 Marshall Super Bass, this model delivers the kind of overdriven bass sounds brought to us by late '60s British rock pioneers like Cream and The Who.

Grind

As the name would suggest, this is for the modern rock sound of the late '90s and the new millennium popular in bands like Alice in Chains, Mudvayne, and Rage Against The Machine. Based on a distorted SansAmp PSA-1 into an SVT with a direct clean bass signal mixed in, this model gives you that angry, clear, and punchy aggression that cuts through the mix and takes your sound to DEFCON 1.

Effects models:
Compressor

This pro LA-2A-style compressor is ideal for helping every bass player - particularly the ones who play with their fingers -- achieve a smooth and consistent signal at any volume.

Envelope filter

Based on a Q-Tron, this envelope filter effect can be heard on tons of major funk and rock tunes.

Octaver

Based on the EBS OctaBass, this effect produces a single note one octave below the note you're playing to add a powerful new vibe to your sound.

Chorus

Based on the much loved T.C. Electronic Chorus, this transparent, smooth, and expressive chorus was built for bass, and using it won't reduce your low end. It's an especially beautiful complement for fretless basses.

Synth

Sitting at the back of the model knob is this secret weapon that turns LowDown into a '70s classic bass synth. From funk to modern rock, this fully adjustable synth delivers incredible tones while tracking every dynamic move you make.

  • Quality Control Problem

As reviewed by DONALD COWDREY on 1/16/2012

I'm glad so many people have had a good experience with this amp. I had hoped to tell everyone how great it is. It has really cool features and sounds. The size and weight are manageable considering what's included. Also, thanks ABF Freight System for super-fast delivery. Now the sad part. After fiddling around with the amp for a few minutes, I realized I could not get the clean sounds I?d read about in other customers? reviews. Applying my deductive skills, I observed that when I listened to the pre-amp through head phones, it sounded great. So, the problem must be in the power amp, the speakers or the cabinet. I drove it down to the nearest Guitar Center, where the experts convened and concluded that the buzz was in the cabinet. They were very nice and offered to have a new one shipped to my house. So I asked myself, ?Self, how many bad products are you going to buy from this company before you ditch the company?? The answer turned out to be ?ONE and only ONE.? So? I down-sized and up-graded to a Markbass Mini CMD121P. Now I?m way over budget and will have to spend even more to get the amp modeling and synth effects that were included in the Line 6. I?m broke again and hoping my car doesn?t break down anytime soon because I can?t afford to fix it. Well, at least I have a good solid bass base to build on now. It feels better. I hope Line 6 can learn from this an improve thier quality control.

  • Line6 LD400

As reviewed by Scott Ashmore on 1/22/2009

This amp was exactly as advertised. Tones are great, clean and powerful. I play in a cover band that plays everything from new county to 70's funk and rock. I have been playing 30+ years and this amp has the sound I have been looking for with portability. It looks great and sounds fantastic with my MusicMan. I could not be any more satisfied with the Line6 LD400. I would recommend this amp everytime.

  • Just What I Needed

As reviewed by Kevin Deal on 2/17/2010

I bought the line 6 LD400 pro based on online reviews and product description. I have found it to be a very versitile and useful amp. I have been an Ampeg SVT user but got tired of lugging around huge heavy equipment and found this to be a good replacement. All the features are easy to understand and use. I bought this amp on Saturday afternoon and used it a a gig that night.I would recommend it to any working bassist.
