The Line 6 DT50 HD Guitar Amp Head is an amplification system that is able to configure and adapt its analog components and digital modeling in real time.
This means that when you select a model, the DT50 Amp instantly reconfigures the tube power section to provide the optimal tone. The digital section monitors the tube power section and can adjust the DSP in real-time.
At high volumes, the tubes provide more distortion. At low volumes, the modeling delivers more of the coloration. The digital section now “talks” to the analog section, and vice versa.
The Benefit? Great tone and authentic feel at all volumes all the time.

I just received my DT50 HD and was at first skeptical about the tone of this monster. I am running it thru my new THD 212 cab in paisley and despite the mismatch in colors they mate very well to the eyes in appearance. I think the amp sounds decent by itself with some tweaking but linked up to my HD500 this monster just becomes GODZILLA! Line 6 has really got something fantastic going on here with this duo linked up. It will take alot of tweaking to achieve your personal tone though. There really is alot of variables which have to be set to make up your presets; but with patience and determination you will achieve an array of fantastic tones! Adjusting the master volume on the amp in conjunction with each preset's individual amp volumes seems to be the key set up for getting the right tone stack as well as an even level throughout your presets. This can be tricky and time consuming to do but worth it in the long run. This whole combination of the DT50 HD and the HD500 will require time and effort but I have to say, of all the gear I have had come and go through my entire life, this technology is certainly the most exciting, authentic feeling, deep, rewarding and just plain fun I have bought to date! I took another gamble on gear opting for this set up vs a Fractal Audio Axe-fx Ultra, which is top shelf, and believe for the money can't go wrong with this rig! I also have JTV69 on order to complete this master piece rig. I believe this is going to be my final holy grail rig when it is all set up, being very portable, compact and every tube tune and effect possible! Sure there probably will always be Gas inclinations but I also have other fantastic tube amps and great gear and great guitars to counter that. The amp is built pretty well and has features that make sense and that are practically functional. Despite being built in China which is the modern reality of affordable technology, this Bogner designed amp is really good! I recommend this amp highly!
This is a monster amp. I really had reservations about spending this much money on an amp, but it is well worth it. I use this amp in combination with the POD HD 500. I have had the POD for a long time, but the learning curve is still steep and some models are useless (the Bogner Pre-amp is underwhelming and has no volume compared to other amps). The sounds of the amp alone are gorgeous. Don't rely on the reverb in the amp, it is very one dimensional. The L6 link is amazing. I paired up this amp with the Line6 412 with V30s. I will say I went into the store and tried out a Marshall JVM 210 that sounded great, but the DT50 sounds just as good and is much more flexible in options.
