The Line 6 DT50 112 Guitar Combo Amp is the most compact of the DT50 series with an amplification system that is able to configure and adapt its analog components and digital modeling in real time.
This means that when you select a model, the DT50 112 Amp instantly reconfigures the tube power section to provide the optimal tone. The digital section monitors the tube power section and can adjust the DSP in real-time.
At high volumes, the tubes provide more distortion. At low volumes, the modeling delivers more of the coloration. The digital section now "talks" to the analog section, and vice versa.
Matched with a custom Celestion speaker, the DT50 112 gives you great tone and authentic feel at all volumes all the time.

While I can't say that I have been able to spend a great amount of time with this amp, I can say that from the time I have spent with it it really is a great amp. 1.) That "popping" sound is the actual analog components switching inside the amp. 2.) Some of the amps work differently with volume levels and they may need to be adjusted between different voicings. Also consider the fact that this amp gives you the option to switch between two presets, Channel A and Channel B. This saves the amp voicing, whether its class A or class AB, and whether it is set in pentode or triode mode. All the knobs however keep the same settings as what you see, in no way do they change because they are "whizzywig" as they call it. Before you listen to these reviews, I would definitely say spend some time with the controls before deciding on this amp or not, because I definitely love it.
About 3 months ago I purchased the POD HD500 which I love. The only problem I had with the POD HD500 is that I was not getting consistent tones when running it through the PA. I decided that the best fix would be to get a dedicated amp, whether it was a Powered Speaker, Tech 21 PA, or the DT50. At first I wasn't considering the DT50 only because of it's price point. I watched some YouTube reviews and it really got me thinking. At the end I decided that I sick of chasing tone and it was time to just go with the best, so I bit the bullet and purchased the DT50. There are no local store that carry the DT50 so I wasn't sure what to expect in person. When I received the amp I plugged it in (without the HD500) and started playing with the voices. I found that with the amp alone I could EASILY dial in great tones in all 4 voicings. Then, I up the HD500 (Using "PRE" models) and after a few adjustments I was happy as can be. The DT50 really brings out the models in the HD500 thanks to the tube technology. I've heard some people say that the amp was too difficult for them to understand but I don't see that. It is VERY easy to use with or without the HD500. I love how you can automatically set different voicings, pent/triode, Class AB/A, and the POD HD will remember these settings and switch them when you select a different patch. The DT50 channels A & B can also be switched w/ the POD HD or with a standard single button footswitch. (When using the POD HD you don't have to worry about switching channels on the amp)Another great thing is if anything is to happen to either my pedal or amp, each unit it capable of operating by itself. As far as the look and feel goes, this amp looks awesome! The only bad thing is the weight, but that comes with any tube amp but I'm glad I went w/ the 1x12 solely for this reason. Basically, to sum it all up, I love this amp, and I am finally able to achieve the versatility I have been looking for without sacrificing any tone. I play in multiple cover bands and no matter what sound or tone I'm looking for I can get it!
I have owned this amp for a week now. I have it paired up with the PODHD400 and it works perfectly. This amp truly is multiple amps all in one, and each voicing is awesome. I was never into Line6 until I tried out the new PodHD series. With the new HD modeling everything has changed. Line6 completely nailed it this time. Everything on mine works perfectly, sounds great, and it looks good too. It is easily apparent to anyone this is a flagship amp. I suggest anyone interested in this amp check out the full product description on Line6.com- everything they brag about on there is 100% true when it comes to the DT50 amps and HD pod series.
