You can't plan for inspiration. It just happens. And in the time it takes to set up recording gear, the most inspired musical ideas can be lost forever. Next time inspiration hits, you can be prepared with the handy Line 6 BackTrack Recorder.

BackTrack ensures that your guitar licks, riffs, and songs will always be captured. Sitting alongside you and plugged into your guitar, this simple and sleek digital recorder is always listening and automatically recording every one of your revelations, epiphanies, and great musical ideas.

You never even need to press record, since the Line 6 BackTrack captures audio whenever it hears you play. Add BackTrack to your setup and let it run — on your belt or guitar strap, between your guitar and amp, or anywhere else. Always listening in the background, BackTrack can capture up to 12 hours of stunning audio.

BackTrack is super simple to use. After you play something brilliant, press the "Mark" button to mark that idea as special. Featuring a 1/4-inch output, the BackTrack recorder allows for easy instant reviewing of both marked and non-marked ideas.

Saved as WAV files to a rugged and reliable built-in 1-GB flash memory, the captured audio is easily transferred to a computer via USB 2.0 for storage or further recording, editing, or mixing. Plus, the USB connection recharges BackTrack to its full battery capacity of more than 8 hours.

Featuring a classic and low-profile look, the ultra-portable BackTrack recorder is so small and lightweight that you might just forget you're carrying it (until you're incredibly thankful that you are).

  • Works OK. Great for Price!

As reviewed by Chris on 12/13/2010

This product is nice to have but the settings that you can adjust for spaces between recording and starting a new track do not always respond the way you planned on them to. Even taking the time to adjust and tweek out some of the glitches from this thing, it sometimes makes you feel like it wasn't worth it. Now this is just my opinion but when I'm writing new songs and experimenting on new things to try to build a new song, it's a real pain when the line 6 doesn't even record all of it or it mixes it with 30 plus tracks that are 3-5 seconds long even after you went into you computer and its instruction booklet to make sure everything was perfectly set before you start jamin' away. On the positive side though, its portability is a real plus when you may be on the go with friends or other band members. Just be aware to adjust everything before you start and hopely they have fixed the bugs out of this thing because I bought mine the 1st day it came out.

  • Excellent digital duitar recorder

As reviewed by Marcelo on 11/18/2008

I bought the backtrack to record directly from the effects and to save loops recorded in the RC-2 (Boss loop station) I am recording in 48mhz 24bit then process the .wav files and mixing them in Audition (Adobe). Incredible good quality, easy to use, very flexible, you can loop, play and stop, mark tracks and the best part you don't have to press record or stop, y senses the sound in the input automatically. And there is no way you can delete a track unless it is connected to a computer (Mac or PC). But again you get 1Gb of storage with excellent sound, just think about CD is 44.1mhz 16bit :) 24bit is a killer and most players (like ipods will crash trying to play 24bit) do not support it but when you work with your master 24bit makes a difference. After you are done you just convert it to 16bit .wav file or MP3, AAC, Flac or whatever you like. It is a new product and surprisingly works great.

  • Great product!

As reviewed by Melanie on 1/3/2009

I am a drummer, but my boyfriend is a lead guitarist for the band Divine Tragedy (Pittsburgh, Pa) www.myspace.com/divinetragedymetal...I got this for him for Christmas and he absolutely loves it. It is very lightweight and small and has a clip that attaches to the guitar strap. It is very easy to use and you can play a saved riff from the device and play along with it at the same time, all coming out of the amp. Very convenient. My boyfriend hasn't complained about it at all.
