Overview

The MX300 puts the great sound of a hardware Lexicon reverb-plus the ability to put that power to work as part of your DAW workflow via PC VST and Mac AU plug-ins-in one unit. Even better, the ultra-affordable MX300 comes packed with a significant portion of the capabilities from the powerful MX400.

All parameters of every reverb, delay and dynamic effect in this powerhouse processor are available inside any PC VST or Macintosh AU compatible DAW program. Just link your computer to the MX300 with a USB cable and control automation and recall parameters exactly as you would with any software plug-in. You get the sonic benefits only Lexicon hardware can provide¦without bogging down your computer's CPU with the extreme demands of reverb plug-ins.

Along with the unique hardware plug-ins for PC and Mac, Lexicon has also included MX-Edit Librarian software so you can store and recall custom programs or pull up an unlimited number of Lexicon settings. Do a serious side-by-side listening test of the MX300 versus comparably priced competition and units costing far more. You'll hear why Lexicon is the leader in reverberation effects.

Full arsenal of voice and instrument-enhancing effects includes 16 Lexicon reverbs, seven delays, genuine DBX compression, de-essing, and modulated effects that will make any performance sound better.

Lexicon designed the MX300 to be ultra-easy-to use in demanding live sound situations. Once a program has been selected, you have instant access to three parameter knobs - instead of having to page through extra menus. You can program a whole night of presets, and dial them up quickly with the dedicated program select knob and bright LED display. Like every product that Lexicon makes, the MX300 is designed to withstand years of jarring, jostling, load-ins, load-outs, brownouts and power surges. It's simply the most live reverb ever offered at this price.

The MX300 lets you switch effect routings easily via front panel controls, so you don't have to spend time behind your rack changing cables. Dual Mono sends the Left and Right input signals through Effect 1 and Effect 2 respectively. Each signal is then routed to its respective output, completely independent from the other. Cascade (Series) sends Left and Right input signals first through Effect 1, then through Effect 2, and then routed as a stereo signal to their respective outputs. Dual Stereo (Parallel) routes Left and Right input signals through both effects independently. Both Effects' output signals are then mixed together, and routed to both the outputs as a single stereo signal. _Mono Split sends Left input signal through Effect 1, while the Right input signal is sent through Effect 2. The output signals of both Effects are then mixed together, and routed to both the outputs as a single stereo signal.

Stereo routing provides a single stereo effect path for Left and Right signals. This routing removes one of the effect modules for users requiring a streamlined signal path with only a single effect for their needs - but taking advantage of all of the MX300's processing horsepower.

Comments about Lexicon MX300 Stereo Reverb Effects Processor with USB:

First, I am an analog guy and have NOT used the PC attributes of the MX300. Also, I did not buy this item from MF but wanted to put my review here.

I have this running through 2 aux sends on my board for live use and some studio work. One side for reverb and the other for delay. It has more than enough power to give you practically any reverb or delay known to man. I am only using this for vocals. Works perfect and does everything I want it to do. As stated in previous reviews, don't think you know it all, read the manual.

Comments about Lexicon MX300 Stereo Reverb Effects Processor with USB:

This has been a really nice upgrade from my previous effects unit. The reverbs really do sound fantastic. I like the LCD screen and menu setup... for the most part...
Really the only one thing I don't like about this unit is adjusting the wet/dry mix. If I were using this unit strictly in a send/return fashion, I would have zero complaints. But sometimes I need to plug it in in a linear fashion to audition the different presets. It's a bit cumbersome to go through different menus to get to the wet/dry mix area, and even then and soon as I switch presets, my previous adjustments are lost, which makes A/B-ing effects more difficult. However, the more I use it the more I get used to it, and find it less frustrating than when I first got it.

The VST aspect is nice. But it's really more VST-ish. You can't quite use it as a genuine plugin, you still have to create a bus to the unit, and that can be done with any hardware unit, not just this one. However, it does have S/PDIF I/O. If you want the full advantage of digital, you'll have to make use of the S/PDIF. The plugin GUI is controlled by USB. The GUI is nice and straightforward. I like it. The librarian software is simple and easy to use.
This unit does not come with its own USB cable, and I'm actually glad about that. It gives me a reason to finally use one of the other hundred USB cables I have from other devices.

It took a little getting used to, but I'm still really liking it.

Comments about Lexicon MX300 Stereo Reverb Effects Processor with USB:

I'm not knocking Lexicon, but my personal experience was this thing lasted 15 minutes and the main screen went out. The menus were kind of hard to navigate, but then again, I had just started to learn it.
Of course, Musician's Friend was their usual professional, helpful selves in returning it. I realize any manufactured product can make a occasional lemon, but I've decided to stick with my old TC Electronics M350

    Great effects unit

    By Filip Miskic

    from Undisclosed

Comments about Lexicon MX300 Stereo Reverb Effects Processor with USB:

Definitely would recommend it if you just need 2 or less distinct effects in your mix or whatever you'll be using it for. I can also see it being a better buy than the MX200 just because of the LCD screen and telling you how much of what you're adding to each effect. Also the power jack is IEC so it is much sturdier than the adapter you get with MX200.

    Great Unit!
Tons of features and menu's. The LCD gives you a lot of on the fly options and settings to program. I haven't used the software and not planning to use it with a computer. How it performs now for live is awesome.
Feels very sturdy and well constructed. No probs.
For the price, you can't go wrong with the quality of effects you get.

    Classic lexicon sound

    By DONNIE HENSLEE

    from Austin, Texas

Comments about Lexicon MX300 Stereo Reverb Effects Processor with USB:

I have been out of the live sound arena for quite a few years and am rebuilding a system for live venues. This processor is a delight to work with. The programmability and effects are just what I needed. being able to control it with a computer and have 2 independent effects is very handy. I have the complete song list programmed and am able to call up any song and have complete settings at my fingertips. The effects are very good for a unit in this price range and as such I am considering purchasing another unit as I normally use 4 effects sends. It is very rugged and has a positive feel to all of the controls. The learning curve is easy to master and well worth the time spent. Reverbs are very natural sounding and gives me any sound I have needed. I would highly recommend this unit to anyone in need of high quality effects

Very good delays and reverbs!!+ extras

    By Jacob

    from kingstree s.c

Comments about Lexicon MX300 Stereo Reverb Effects Processor with USB:

I almost went with a delay and reverb pedal to replace a older rocktron intellifex LTD, very good sounding unit for some players, just not for me. I was thinking of going with a delay and reverb pedal to replace my rocktron unit, and waited for about 6months to choose which setup to go with. I am very glad I went with the lexicon mx300. This unit is very very simple to operate and get a great results. 99 factory and 99 user settings. I like the way I can configure with effect outputs and it layers the effects diffrently. I mainly got this unit for the delays and reverbs but it also has a nice tremelo, chours, flange and a few other effects that you can tweak and really get great results. I am sure a person could take a handful of boutique pedals and do the same thing but the cost would be higher. My only gripe about the mx300 is that if you choose a sinlge effect and configure the outputs parallel you can tailer the effect in more detail, you can only do this with a single effect, I wish the unit could go this in depth while running 2 effects, which all you can run is 2 effects at the same time with this unit ,(I would not hardly ever use more than that anyways). But all in all I would give this a 5 stars if you are picky about your reverbs and delays, very easy to get what you want with the menu screen. I use a rack systen that is stereo, with a ibanez af105 guitar and this unit completes my tone, great unit and would recoomend to anyone who wants great reverbs and delays.

Lexicon MX300 Effects Processor...TWO for ONE!

    By Wild Nites

    from Boston (area), MA

Comments about Lexicon MX300 Stereo Reverb Effects Processor with USB:

This unit is WELL worth the money! It's like buying two effects processors for the price of one. It's being utilized in our PA effects rack Left side for reverb and Right side for delay and are run through seperate aux sends. I am considering purchasing another unit for a second setup..Great price for a high quality Lexicon product!

    Almost there!

    By Straight Dope

    from Oakland, CA

Comments about Lexicon MX300 Stereo Reverb Effects Processor with USB:

Lexicon effects! The MX300 is marketed as a stand-alone machine that will integrate seamlessly via USB as an AU or VST insert in your favorite DAW. The machine itself has a 2x2 i/o choice of 1/4", XLR, or digital coax. Best features in class. The problem, however, comes with the drivers for MAC OS X Leopard. I have had no success with the installation of the software for the MX series. This is the second time, recently, that I have purchased a hardware devise that employs faulty software. :-( I think the programming department needs to catch up with the sales department!
