I just purchased a Lexicon Alpha USB Audio Interface and I am very impressed with the sound quality and ease of use. I'm using a P4, 3.2GHz PC with 1GB of RAM and a 40GH harddrive. I just installed the software and plugged the interface in and started recording. I have not run into any latency or sound clipping issues. Sounds very good for a Sennheiser E835 mic into the XLR input. Recorded from my line out on my Marshall JCM 2000 into the Instrument Input on the front of the unit, and from a single mic in the middle of the room during a full rehersal. The Cubase software it comes with is user friendly and the reverb plug in sounds pretty good for being digital. This unit also acts as my main sound card. Great for laying down tracks for other band members to hear or for recording a live practice session for review. Might want to go with something better if you plan on selling your music. Could have used another XLR input, but for the price this unit and it's features are very good.

Dont Buy!!!! Worthless Piece Of Junk!!!

By Derek M

from Smithtown, NY

Don't buy. I got this product yesterday, plugged it into the computer, and tried using it with some existing software i already had. on playback i started hearing all these popping noises and crackling... i thought it was the software.. so i tried downloading cubase and cubase is the hardest software to download.. so after two hours of trying, i gave up... brought it back to the store and they tried it on cubase 7 and it was the same problems... Dont Buy!!!! I got credit and i am saving up for a higher quality product.

Not Compatible with Logic or Garage Band

By Jamie Tucker

from Salt Lake City, UT

It shows up in the interface menu, but it just sound like clipping. Not usable whatsoever in Garage Band or Logic Pro. It does work with any program that is not actually for producing music, such as web browsers and iTunes. I find that pretty bizarre that it will handle system sound, but not application sound. I actually asked the people at Guitar Center specifically if it works with Logic, and they said "yeah, it should". But, no it does not. This one is going back ASAP.

Unrealiable junk

By COLE SMITH

from BIG BEAR CITY, Ca.

I bought this thing and within 1 month it stopped working. Was weak to begin with and mono only. Once it went bad it won't even work with Audacity let alone cubase or anything else. Do not buy this Peice of junk unless you like wasting money. Their factory warranty is useless( pay your own shipping costs etc.) What a joke. Now I will buy something better even if cost more. You get what you pay for always. I gave one star only for working a month.

Not Impressed

By Brandon Nolde

from Escanaba, MI

First off, this thing does the job for recording. Zero latency, this is good. The outputs sound great, but the inputs are garbage. All the inputs are mono. I tried hooking my iPod into one of the line in jacks, & it comes in mono, even with a stereo 3mm to 1/4" adapter. I would recommend something with stereo inputs if you plan on using an iPod, Zune, etc.

Great little interface

By Manny Beetz

from TX

I bought it for $50 at Guitar Center and never looked back. I use it for recording my vocals and guitar tracks It does what I want it too till I upgrade in the future. Also I use it for my main Audio sound and have the M-Audio AV 40's hooked up to it. I just plugged it into my IMAC and it did the rest selected the Input and output for the Lexicon so I don't have to mess with it when I track in garageband. Personally I wish these interfaces would ship with Pro Tools instead of Cubecase though Great buy for my needs.

Singer/Songwriter/Producer

By Adrian

from Fort Worth Texas

I really like this box and have used it off and on. When using the 16 bit configuration I never had a problem. But when I have it set to 24 bit, I can be monitoring for a while through external monitors or through the headphones and all of a sudden, the signal seems to drop and there is a loud static like changing to a blank television station. I have to immediately remove headphones from my ears if the volume was up loud. It's a great device. When it is working normal, the sound quality is great. I'll check for firmware updates.

cheap but useable

By nic

from glasgow

ive used the alpha to produce tracks for labels.bought it as a stop gap after a 2 year break it sounds ok, but the build quality and drivers are very poor the unit has frequently crashed and now i use the free aiso4all driver as its more stable and has lower latency. if you want to produce anything other than demos get something better like an m audio im selling mine as soon as possible

WOW

By Darrell

from San Antonio, TX

I bought this to use a mobile recording setup for my church. We have a small budget and needed a way to record the sermons. THIS WAS THE PERFECT SOLUTION. Inexpensive but not cheap. The sound is amazing. No bells and whistles just in's and outs. Just what we needed.

Affordable, Easy

By SDB, Inc

from San Diego, CA

Bought this in store, not bad for the price, "plug n play" so very little needed to get this up and running (with the included install discs) Seems to work fine with Windows 7 and SAM Broadcaster, which i uses for streaming an Internet Radio Station. CONS: Can only get vocals in right side (mono) off the mic. Cubase software is decent for a limited amount of use and effects needed
