  • Solid and Clean

As reviewed by Mark Rakemaker on 4/25/2009

I'm going to keep it short: Amazing! I would put this up against my high dollar rack mount interface any day of the week. It's very well built, laid out well, and it sounds great! I realize that they made this to sit between your computer keyboard and monitor, but I think that they need to consider a rack model with the same guts and jacks, too. The listed features are all true and right on. I've even run this as a stand alone mixer in a pinch. I think that this is one of the best IO's out there. This is not some little lightweight piece of disappointment. Try one and see for yourself. Good software bundle, too.

  • Great!

This little device is awesome! Its so easy to set up and works great with garage band 09. You can record 6 tracks simultaneously. If your going for a small, cheap recording device for many tracks, this is for you!

The hardware and features of this audio interface is solid! It is a very well built device. The pre-amps and A/D converters are top of the line quality. This interface does not currently have drivers for OSX Snow Leopard! I can't comment for the Windows drivers, but I know they don't have ones yet for Windows 7, but Vista 32 and 64, I believe they do. However, they do have beta drivers available, but they're not on their website. You will need to contact their support and they'll email them to you. If you purchase this, I recommend emailing Lexicon for the drivers, as it takes them a few days to respond. That way you'll be ready to go as soon as you get the U42S! Lexicon has not given any dates as to when they'll fully support snow Leopard. That being said. If you need to make sure your interface is going run no problem either run an OS that they currently have tested, working drivers for. If you want to use the cutting edge OS, and Snow Leopard is a very nice upgrade, then go for the IONIX, you get a lot of features, it's a very sexy looking device, which is one of the biggest selling point for me, it looks awesome on my desk, and I love the level lights bouncing up and down! It sounds great at a very nice price. It's well built, and the hardware will last a long time. Also having two headphone outputs with their own volume controls is a killer feature! Great for those times when you're collaborating with someone in the studio and need to keep quiet so you don't disturb the peace.
