Lexicon Alpha USB Audio Interface

I just purchased a Lexicon Alpha USB Audio Interface and I am very impressed with the sound quality and ease of use. I'm using a P4, 3.2GHz PC with 1GB of RAM and a 40GH harddrive. I just installed the software and plugged the interface in and started recording. I have not run into any latency or sound clipping issues. Sounds very good for a Sennheiser E835 mic into the XLR input. Recorded from my line out on my Marshall JCM 2000 into the Instrument Input on the front of the unit, and from a single mic in the middle of the room during a full rehersal. The Cubase software it comes with is user friendly and the reverb plug in sounds pretty good for being digital. This unit also acts as my main sound card. Great for laying down tracks for other band members to hear or for recording a live practice session for review. Might want to go with something better if you plan on selling your music. Could have used another XLR input, but for the price this unit and it's features are very good.

Lexicon Alpha

Got myself this little brat, cause i wanted a cheap temporay solution, until i get my hands on Phonic 24 channel FireWire mixer. First thing i have to say - there was no way i could install the drivers from the cd that came along. Small bugger - downloaded the correct ones from Lexicon website and they worked just great. I was pleasantly surprised about the fact that all setup was performed automatically. I just plugged everything in and started to record. Weird thing - i have a relly annoing noise when using Alpha with Cubase Le, though it works absolutely perfectly with Cubase SX. Overall this is a great device for its price - good audio quality, easy, hassle-free setup and very good bulding quality. Although i would like if there was a S/P DIF in/out on it.

Nice little piece

I've owned my lexicon alpha for about a month now, it works great to record piano, vox, acoustic guitar and hand-drums; the flexibility of having a 1/4 inch input and an XLR input is great. I can plug in my acoustic electric and sing through a separate mic at the same time. It's not a proffesional quality device, but at $100, it's a huge improvement over my previous 16-bit, computer mic recordings.

nervous at first

This recording interface works exactly as described. We are using it for professional radio recording of voice only. We did not want to use Cubase since we were already familiar with Adobe Audition. Adobe did not like the Lexicon at first. It was screaming noise...a real nightmare...but...as usual, it was pilot error. Some tweaking of Adobe and this thing is perfect. So now we use this with a laptop. This is a great product worth much more than the price!

Awsome For the Price!

Just bought this little thing a couple of days ago and all I can say is that for the price it gets the job done, many people have compared this interface to some more expensive ones and say that this one sounds bad and it has a lot of clipping but you just have to know how to set up the sound and levels. As far as the set up my major problems where activating and registering the Cubase LE and I tried this interface with Sonar 6 Producer but had some trouble so I gave Cubase a shot and yes I got it working and I think that its pretty easy to record with Cubase and the Alpha interface. So yes its worth it if your looking for something to get you ideas on or to do a little demo.
