Comments about Lewitt Audio Microphones DTP Beat Kit Pro 7 Omni 7-Piece Drum Microphone Kit:
I am definitely impressed with this Drum Mic Kit. The uniqueness of the DTP640 kick drum mic was very cool to tinker with. A lot of live sound guys always put their kick mics far into the drum right up on the beater. This makes sense for a live show because you can capture the punchy attack of the beater, but you lose all of the low end because you are deep inside of the drum. This forces you to have to boost 50 Hz with a narrow Q to make up that lost bottom end. However, with that DTP640, I was able to pull the mic back with more of a studio recording technique and the condenser still captures that transient while the dynamic side produces that fat punchy low end. It was also cool that you can use just the condenser or the dynamic capsule in the mic. The mounts for the mics were great and sturdy also. This was important because I have used some mic kits that have bad clamps which wobble and don't hold. I used an LCT340 condenser mic for our percussionist, and it was perfect. It was clear and punchy, and I ran into no feedback issues whatsoever even on the small stage. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised and thoroughly impressed with the microphones' performance. Not only do they sound great, but they look and feel great.
