  • Versatile studio mic at a great price!

As reviewed by drew womack on 4/26/2014

Let me start by saying I sing studio backing vocals for a living so I have several large diaphragm Mics to choose from. I found this mic in a pawn shop of all places and decided to buy it after I did some research. It's a very strange mic with all its features(too many to list) I set up a shoot out between a U47, a well made C12 clone and my trusty $300 Shure SM7. If you are working in a home studio that's a glorified spare bedroom and u have issues with noise from outside or in, this is the only mic you need. I thought it was off as I was setting them all up. I could hear the ambient noise that the fan was making from all the other Mics besides the SM7. Bottom line... The LCT 640 was very smooth and had great characteristics as far as sound but at the same time has a proximity effect like an SM7. Killer!! Find you one!
