Comments about Legere Alto Saxophone Reed:

Do not rely upon the strength chart on the Legere webpage. While it may be a guideline, these reeds aren't cheap and Guitar Center does not accept returns! I learned the hard way. However, the company Legere has fantastic customer service and did send me two more reeds. I generally play a Hemke 2.5 reed and found that even the 2.14 Legere was too stiff for my likes. Hoping it will soften up so I can get some use out of my investment.

        Love It!

        By Christina Gibson

        from Washington, DC

Comments about Legere Alto Saxophone Reed:

I play alto sax mostly in a big-band, with some long rehearsal sessions. I am very pleased with the sound from this Signature Series (Strength 2) reed. I've used Legere synthetic reeds for several years now and have been extremely pleased at their longevity. I especially appreciate their inherent quality not to dry out during band performances. Bottom line, this one is my favorite.
Great sound, great feel and very long lasting.
Sale price is a good deal, considering the longevity of these Legere reeds.

        Surprise

        By Christina Gibson

        from Washington, DC

Comments about Legere Alto Saxophone Reed:

I play alto sax at an intermediate level and was looking for something a bit easier to blow so I was surprised and dissapointed that this 1.75 strength reed felt more like the 2.5 strength cane reeds I try to use. Typically, I use strength 2, whether synthetic or cane. I do use other Legere reeds and have been extremely pleased at their longevity. I especially appreciate their inherent quality not to dry out during band sessions. When I first joined the group, the sectional leader was skeptical and made me prove the sound. He was pleased and dropped his challenge to my using synthetic over cane reeds!
The only downside for me regarding this reed is that I was expecting a strength 1.75 to be easier to blow than strength 2. It wasn't and seemed to me more like the 2.5 cane reeds I try to use. That said, I have been extremely pleased at their longevity. Their inherent quality not to dry out during my band rehearsals/performances is a fantastic feature, and the sound produced is great. An early performance experience I'll never forget -- I was playing a solo at a party. It was wintertime and the fireplace was going. I wet my cane reed, and got through my first number just fine, but as I began the second piece, the only sound produced was an almost inaudible pftttt... not even a squeak as the reed and my mouth had completely gone dry. Live and learn! I quickly came to trust the Legere reed which has never left me high and dry!
        Long lasting, nice tone.
Discounted price and free shipping can't be beat!
