Consistent

By Dawn

from Northern California

Comments about Legere Reeds Tenor Saxophone Reed:

I've been playing with a Legere for about 4 years in a Swing Band. I know I can count on my reed to play at any time. I hate fooling with wood reeds, so the Legere really works for me. I play on a 2 1/2. The sound is warm. It lasts about 6 months, that's rehearsing 1.5 hours a week, plus practice and gigs) It tends to get a little "muddy" when it's wearing out, so I like to keep a back up. I'm going to try the WW plastic reed to compare.

Awesomely Dynamic

By Paul Schneidmill

from Oxon Hill, MD

Comments about Legere Reeds Tenor Saxophone Reed:

I determined this particular Reed to be awesome from the first note I played after connecting it to my Otto Link Super-tone metal mouthpiece! Even though I'd not used a synthetic Reed in many years, I was awed by its immediate playability and lack of limitations! I fully intend to get another one for my Alto. This Reed is indescribably good!

Great Reed

By Zack

from Merryville Louisiana

Comments about Legere Reeds Tenor Saxophone Reed:

Ive been using this reed to gig and for high school marching band, i tend to play hard so it took a while to find the right size but the reeds are great, i used a 3 at first and it would go out on me pretty quick and i moved up to a 3.25 and it would last longer about a month or so and im now using a 3.5 and it is perfect for about 3 months and it pays for itself over and over again. GREATTT REEEED

Pros

  • Long Life

Cons

  • A Buzzy Sound

Best Uses

  • Practice Alltissimo Range

Comments about Legere Reeds Tenor Saxophone Reed:

I loose the robust sound that my horn has. So I am sticking to the low cost cane reeds. They offer a better sound and don't compromise timbre of your horn.

Closest to cane

By BarryWithaby

from Winchester, VA

Verified Buyer

Pros

  • Always Ready
  • Closest To Real Cane
  • Consistent Sound
  • No "break-in" Period

Cons

    Best Uses

    • Very Flexible

Comments about Legere Reeds Tenor Saxophone Reed:

I play an LA_Sax custom tenor saxophone with a Berg Larsen metal mouthpiece 105,1,M. With cane reeds, I use the metal Berg Larsen ligature. I've tried three other brands of synthetic reeds and in my opinion the Legere are the closest to real cane, but a little brighter, therefore, I use a Rovner fabric ligature to tone it down. NOTE: the Legere reeds do not seem to "break- in" or wear out; I advise purchasing a strength that is .25 to .5 less than what you use for real cane reeds.

    Great Reed

    By Don

    from Memphis, Tenn

Comments about Legere Reeds Tenor Saxophone Reed:

Tenor Studio Cut 2.75 or 3 - they work really well for me. Good response, great altissimo (as good as cane), good lows and good projection and power. Overall, very nice - highly recommended Great job Legere

Not much response for the money

    By Lonnie D.

    from Columbia, South Carolina

Comments about Legere Reeds Tenor Saxophone Reed:

This is a very expensive reed and I had not tried one before. I won't try another one any time soon. The reed was only minimally responsive with at best a muted, muddy tone. My expectations for a reed that costs this much run pretty high. This one was very disappointing. I'll stick with cane or Fibracell reeds for now.
