I've gone through plenty of Hohner harmonicas. Replacing those Hohner harmonicas have been getting increasingly expensive. Even the Hohner replacement reeds are getting expensive. Now we are free from the Hohner goosestep, thanks to Lee Oskar, which makes a harmonica that is, at worst, just as good as the Hohner counterpart, but at a lower price. Also worth mention is that the Lee Oskar replacement reed plates are also available for a lower price.
What's not to like? Quick, easy, inexpensive, and the harp is like new again. I got tired of throwing away a $40 instrument when the reeds went south, so I switched to Lee Oskar harps because I could replace the reed plate. It's a no-brainier.
I play blues and I like the tone that says "hey listen to me". Some of my harmonicas I've had for almost ten years and only now am I replacing the reed plates. Try them they are to me worth paying for the quality becuse they sound good, last long and have reed plates you can replace. O by the way I do wail on them so they do get a workout when I play. I don't regret buying them and yes they are my first choice when I think of harmonicas.
