A fun buy

Comments about Lanikai LU-8 Tenor 8-String Tenor Ukulele:

The uke itself looks real nice. Very sharp looking, with pearl (looking?) tuners, gold gears, and slotted heads. I would suggest buying an 8 string replacement set of strings and restring it when you get it, cause the factory did a so-so job.I am pretty satisfied with this uke. Its a great size and shape. The sound is truly where this uke shines. The different octave strings are a treat and give it a truly unique sound and doubling the strings really gives this uke a ton of volume. My only qualm with the uke is that its hard to keep it in tune. Although, I restrung it and its getting easier to get it back in tune. If it stayed in tune all the time, or most, I would have given this 5 stars. I bet you could take it to a local guitar shop and see if they have any recommendations. If you have a chromatic tuner, though, each string is only ~half step out of tune when you leave it for a day, so it takes 5 minutes to get all the strings back in tune for a fun session.Really good uke. Its really growing on me. The sound is where this uke shines, like I said, so if you can deal with the minor inconvenience of having to tune up every time, you'll be happy you bought it.

Incredible, Rich Sound

Comments about Lanikai LU-8 Tenor 8-String Tenor Ukulele:

I received one of these for Christmas 2007. It has a beautiful sound. I get compliments on the sound as well as the volume at my local ukulele group meetings (yes, those do exist!). Definitely worth the extra cost if you are comparing this to the standard 4-string or even the 6-string forms. The physical body and fretboard of the instrument feels so much more sturdy than my soprano ukulele.

What a kick!

Comments about Lanikai LU-8 Tenor 8-String Tenor Ukulele:

This is a sweet instrument that has a marvelous tone. It's not really a uke; not quite a guitar either. It's hard to say just what it is, but I love it. If you don't have an eight-string uke already, then here's your chance.
