I love this ukelele. I got it as a christmas gift, and picked up all the notes and chords in only 4 hours. It is a great instrument, and has very good quality. It sounds unbelevable for its size, and the strings are awesome. The strings are Nylgut strings, and last a long time. I recomend this ukuelele to anyone who likes to collect guitars, and have fun. You won't regret buying it!!!

I bought this uke so I could write some soundtrack music for a Hawaiian vacation video. When I received the uke, I tuned it...and tuned it...and finally got it tuned, but not to standard pitch. I attributed the tuning difficulty to new strings, so I wasn't too bothered about it. After learning all the chords in the little book that came with it (which was a nice inclusion), I started strumming some little tunes that sounded fun. However, I had to keep tuning every minute or so. While I continued tuning, I could feel just how cheesy the tuning machines are. The gears began slipping and I could only get it tuned by pitching all of the strings a step low to avoid putting extra tension on the gears. Once I got past the tuning difficulty, I noticed that there was some dried glue slopped on the neck and at least one of the upper frets that made playing higher on the neck impossible. I also found that the intonation is off, which compounds the tuning issue. When I started playing guitar many years ago, I always had the philosophy of not "cheaping out" when buying an instrument. I failed to follow my own rules in this instance. I won't make that mistake again. I will be returning this stick of chinese firewood for a quality ukulele. Do yourself a favor - spend a little more money for a quality instrument, be it for you, or as a gift. The avoided frustration of trying to learn to play on a cheap instrument will be well worth the added expense.

Extremely Pleased

By megan simpson

I absolutely love this ukulele. Granted, it's my first one, but if your anything like me, you will fall in love with this uke. I am 16 and wanted to simply play the uke for my own pleasure. I did hours worth of research and settled upon this one. I've had it for a few months now, and I couldn't be more happy. I have 100% self taught myself how to play- it's fairly easy and the results are extremely pleasant! Love this uke so much!

Great Value !

By James Bassler

from San Diego CA

I bought this for my 8 year old son who shows interest in playing guitar. Before I put a bunch of money into a guitar, I thought a uke would be a good starter. Plus his fingers are still too small to play a full size guitar. This plays like a dream. It has very sharp clear tones. It's fun to play. It stays tuned. I played every Uke they had at the store and chose this one. I only get to play it when my son is asleep because he and his sister won't put it down. The action and sound quality are great. If you buy this you won't be disappointed.

Perfect ۡ̏starterۡݕ_ uke!

By Lucas

from silver spring, MD

Iۡve been a guitar player for more than 15 years, spending a lot of time doing punk, hardcore, noise rock and metal. The distortion is almost always on ۡ̏10ۡݕ_ and the volume is usually cranked. But sometimes you want a different approach to interacting with your instruments. Maybe you heard some solo Eddie Vedder or had a nice day at the beach and thought, ۡ̏You know? Volume is great, but itۡs not everything.ۡݕ_ If that resonates with you, try stepping into the world of ukulele playing. And when doing so, start here with the LU-21C. Youۡll quickly see that the uke responds better to a calm touch ۡ itۡs a bright, encouraging little instrument that has a sweet, natural character. If youۡre a guitar player like me, consider it to be like going from playfully wrestling a black lab to gently playing with a puppy. Precious, to be sure, but rewarding as well. I made the transition to the uke via the Yamaha Guitalele (which I also reviewed on this site), and Iۡm glad I didnۡt stop halfway. Learning on the LU-21C has given me a good testing ground to delve deeper. With a few basic transpositions (think of the 4-stringed uke as the bottom 4 strings of a guitar, pitched up to the 5th fret, with the ۡ̏lowۡݕ_ string set an octave higher) it doesnۡt take long to go from shredding a strat to plucking out melodies on the Lanikai. I genuinely love this instrument, but after only a month, I realize its limitations. It doesnۡt hold tune exceptionally well (remedy: get one of those Snark clip-on tuners and keep it with you at all times). And the intonation isnۡt spot on. In short, I need more. Iۡll probably upgrade to a Lanikai zebrawood acoustic/electric with a cutaway in the near future ۡ until then, Iۡll be happy with this inexpensive little gem. For the price and the pros (nice sound, easy playability and handsome looks), you wonۡt be disappointed with the LU-21C, even if you decide itۡs not your bag. If you play this uke and hate it, youۡre only out a hundred bucks. On the other hand, if you like it and want to keep going, youۡll want to upgrade sooner rather than later. Itۡs an okay hobby instrument, if youۡre into just having a lukewarm approach to playing (which is, of course, totally fine). But in any case, itۡs a good, affordable and decently-constructed bridge into a larger world of playing that rewards the patient practitioner looking to carve out something unique and ۡ can I say it? ۡ even beautiful.

Great Uke at a great price

By Lazlo

from Suffern, new york

I got this Uke under recomendation from the salesman two weeks ago. I've played guitar for over 45 years and was looking for a new instrument to quickly play/learn that was inexpensive if I lost interest and it had to be something I could transport on my motorcycle on road trips. This is a great Uke, has bright, loud sound and is well constructed for the cost. It does tend to go out of tune, but uniformly....I attribute this to the nylon strings and don't find it to be a problem. I recommend this highly to anyone looking for something new and interesting.......and at the price it is not a toy Uke but a well made instrument.

speechless.

By anonymous

from fresno, ca.

if i could rate this uke with an unlimited amount of stars, that unlimited number is most likely to be limited.. (: i give it 100 stars. so, i went and bought this ukulele on the 15th; still pretty recent. i've only had it for a couple days, and i'm so incredibly in love with it. all in all, i've had to tune it about 20 times since then, but it's only because since i bought it, (i'm proud to say) i have not put it down at all. i really have no clue to why i'm writing a review on it, because it's my first and only uke so far, but i really love it. it has the really attractive white lining and the medium-dark brown color to it is amazing. if i could change anything, i just wish it was easier to hold onto, it's a bit slippery, but no uke is perfect.. anyways, the looks are great, and the relationship between me and my uke is undying and never-ending. (: i absolutely love it. if you're buying a uke, i honestly have no clue to what you should get, but as long as you want to learn it and play it (also, love it), then any uke is good to start with. just don't leave the beautiful thing alone in your closet and let it collect dust. i'd be upset if that happened ):
